"This hotel was incredible for many reasons. First off, the view of the islands in the bay is breathtakingly gorgeous. You can hang onto the edge of the beautiful pool and gaze at the beach, water and islands below. There's an outdoor lounge and a restaurant with really good food. The service is top notch. The rooms are clean and spacious. From the balcony, we could hear howler monkeys down below, as well as dozens of exotic bird species. I can confidently say that this was the best hotel...

"Castillo Tambor was a shot in the dark for my wife and I. We had never been to Costa Rica before and weren't sure what to expect or not expect. We arrived late and were graciously welcomed by hotel staff. She was very helpful and welcoming, ensuring that we were happy with our room prior to leaving. "My wife and I stayed at Makanas for 10 nights on May 2024. We definitely enjoyed our stay. The studio is nice ans has everything for the stay. The staff (Vane and Leysi are the best) was awesome and prepared the best waffles and gallo pinto ever for breakfast! I would HIGHLY recomend that if you did not rent a 4 wheeler or a car, find somewhere else to stay because Makanas is very far as a walking distance from either bars/restaurants/supermarkets, and taxis are extremely expensive "
