The Amanda’s location within the old city walls makes it ideal for visiting the main attractions besides being close to the sea front and promenade.We loved the charms of the 1950’s furnishings and fittings including photographs and other artefacts depicting Istanbul’s history. Our room was extremely comfortable with lovely pristine bedding and beautiful towels. The friendly reception staff gave us great advice about how to see all the sights on our list. We also loved the rooftop terrace where we enjoyed breakfast with a great views of the sea and Blue Mosque - only topped at night when the Blue Mosque is magically transformed by lightning. The evening menu has lots of choice at a reasonable price while the range at breakfast includes a mix of traditional local foods. If we return to Istanbul the Armada Hotel will be our first choice to book.

The only friendly staff I would say is the cleaners. The rest were abrupt, quite arrogant and didn’t want to solve the issues we faced. I’m a little baffled that this hotel is 5*. Out of all the countries we have visited, the service was the worst here.
