This was our first trip to the Thousand Islands area of New York and we couldn't have asked for a better place to stay for our week away. My wife and I are busy professionals and we enjoyed the ability to relax in this very comfortable and laid-back location. You can't be much closer to the St. Lawrence river unless you are actually in it. We also enjoyed hanging out by the pool one afternoon.
We stayed in Boathouse #1. Having the kitchen allowed us to make meals that we would take outside to enjoy at the dock tables, under the shade of the large trees, or in one of the two gazebos while watching the activity on the St. Lawrence river. Even without the kitchen we could have used one of the multiple community grills to cook on which we did one evening. Clean towels, wash-cloths, linens, body-wash were provided. There was a TV with satellite in the living room and the bedroom.
We walked into downtown Alexandria Bay on numerous occasions to catch a boat tour of the islands, to visit Boldt Castle, to shop, have lunch or dinner in a local restaurant, etc. A number of restaurant choices exist and the Uncle Sam boat tours offer a range of tours to select from.
Nick and Amy were very friendly and were eager to lend a hand or provide answers to questions about the area if needed. There are also a few season-long guests who are very friendly and make this a welcoming place to spend time.
I would definitely recommend staying here, bring your watercraft and enjoy what the property and the St. Lawrence river has to offer!
One helpful hint: bring the phone number when you check in and give it a call when you arrive. Nick or Amy will meet you and give you the keys and the details.
