Perfect family getaway just two hours out of the Twin Cities! Sandy beach, 22 foot Weeres pontoon, water trampoline, clean lake, volleyball court and more, you'll never be bored at The Lake House!

Welcome to The Lake House on Lake Burgen! Our 6 bedroom cabin is located on beautiful Lake Burgen with a sandy bottom for swimming, fishing and fun! Relax on one of the large decks, take the pontoon out on the lake or sit on the dock and enjoy the sun. The Lake House sits on beautiful Lake Burgen, which is a 182 acre lake that is stream fed. Located just 4 miles from downtown Alexandria, Minnesota. We have a 22 foot Weeres pontoon available for rent as well, inquire about specific rates. We also require the pontoon to be filled with gas prior to departure, please ask for more details when booking. One canoe, two kayaks, paddle boat and a 20 foot water trampoline are included with the rental. There is also a sand volleyball court in the backyard, fire pit and hammocks for you to enjoy.

The house is an open floor plan on the main level connecting the kitchen, dining room, living room and living room so your entire group can be together. The kitchen is fully-equipped for all your cooking needs with a double oven, 5 burner electric cook top, coffee station and all the basics you may need. There is also a half bathroom on the main level and a bedroom. On the back deck you will find a Weber gas grill for your use.

Downstairs there is a second living room for guests to enjoy with games and a smart TV. There is also a 3/4 bathroom, small air hockey table, foosball table and Big Buck Hunter arcade game. You will also find two additional ovens and a second fridge/freezer.

Upstairs features the master bedroom with a king size bed and three additional bedrooms with queen size beds. There is a full laundry upstairs as well as a full bathroom. Lastly upstairs you will find the Madeline Room, which is a hit with kids! It can sleep 6 comfortably in beds.

License #1866 - Overnight capacity is 12 people ages 6 and up with children 5 and under not included in the total, but all occupants are counted for rent purposes. Additional overnight guests past 12 people will be an additional small fee. Not more than 12 additional daytime guests for a total of 24 TOTAL guests on the property (aged 6 and over) are permitted by Douglas County VRBO requirements. Owner may have additional requirements. Parking is limited to 12 cars with on street parking during the daytime but only on our side of the road -- NO OVERNIGHT PARKING IS ALLOWED ON THE STREET - NO EXCEPTIONS.

Burgen Lake cabin

Terrific location for family vacation

Our family of 9 adults and 9 kids enjoyed a lovely week at this beautiful property. The house and the property are well kept and perfect with many bedrooms. Our family mostly spent each day fishing and swimming, the beach front is exceptionally nice for our big group. The property manager, Amos is the best, so helpful if you have a question.

great family outing

The house and the location were perfect for us. We enjoyed the water even though the weather was not as warm as we would have liked. There were many little things that were so nice - prepasted toothbrushes, baking supplies, and hillbilly tupperware containers for leftovers- we had a wonderful time and would love to return.

Family Anniversary/Birthday Getaway

Overall the property was perfect for all 6 adults and 6 children! There were plenty of rooms for everyone! The dock was huge and perfect for all the children to catch lots and lots of fish! Bonfire pit was beautiful next to the lake and my children loved the big sand volleyball course that they actually used as a huge sand box!

Perfect for family getaways!

This was our first time at the Burgen Lake property and it did not disappoint. We spent our days on the dock, in the boat and around the living room. The property allowed family from all corners of the country to reconnect, unplug and have a great Labor Day weekend. Michele and her property management team were responsive, helpful and polite. Great place for a large group

We were in town for a wedding and needed space for three families with kids ranging in age from 1-17. The Lake House was the perfect fit - both in size and location. There were plenty of bedrooms to allow for spreading out, each family had their own bathroom, and the gathering spaces were never too crowded. Communication with the host was great and we appreciated the flexible check-in and out times.

The best vacation property for the entire family

Our family ranged in ages from 2-13. The kids loved the water trampoline, playing in the sand, volleyball games, fishing off the dock, paddle boating and all the activities inside. Perfect location

This property was perfect for our family vacation. The long stretch of sandy beach kept the kids, all under 5, entertained and busy. They had so much fun. The pontoon was great and we had several fun rides. The kitchen is stocked with everything we needed to prepare our meals and there are plenty of dishes. Michele was always very prompt in answering questions. We also appreciated how close we were to Alexandria.

Wonderful home and property!

Beautiful home and property to rent. Kitchen is well stocked, lots of space to gather together or choose a quiet room on your own. The owners/manager were very responsive when there was a problem with alarm system and stovetop and the problems were quickly resolved. Great amenities but we were disappointed that the advertised Buck Hunter, Foosball, and Hulu access were not working. All in all a great place to enjoy with family or friends.

Week At The Lake

Really enjoyed our stay at this property. There was plenty of room for our growing family. Enjoyed the table space for dining together both indoors and outdoors. Loved the house and all it's amenities. The lake was perfect - the water clear, the beach sandy, fishing off the dock, and a beautiful pontoon to use to tour the rest of the lake. It was also very close to Alexandria so you could easily run in to pick up any needed items or enjoy local entertainment. The property owners were great to work with and very prompt at answering any questions.

Gals getaway while guys are hunting

We had a great two night stay. The basement games were awesome! We played volley ball, went to several local attractions with the kids, played games and enjoyed family. The extra little things like toothbrushes, shower gel, shampoo, etc. we’re really nice. A couple suggestions: checkout at 9:30 am is difficult with large groups, particularly with young people. I wanted to kayak as it was a beautiful fall afternoon, no life jackets were available. A couple of the boards on the swing set, had an end that was in tough shape, concerned with kids playing.

Another Fantastic Year at Our Favorite Lake Home!

Our family just wrapped up our second year staying at this incredible lake home, and it’s safe to say we’ve found our perfect getaway spot. The property offers everything you could want for a memorable vacation. The house itself is spacious and maintained well, with plenty of room for everyone to spread out and feel at home. The accommodations are comfortably furnished and equipped with all the amenities you could need. We’ve found it to be the perfect blend of cozy and relaxing. The lake is clean and clear, it’s understandable why we keep coming back. Fishing from the dock is always a highlight, with the lake offering plenty of opportunities to catch some great pan fish. Our kids had a blast with the swimming, trampoline, and paddle boats. The pontoon was a fantastic place for us to gather for an evening ride or middle of lake swimming antics. The volleyball and basketball courts offer entertainment for the adults while the children enjoyed the outdoor playset. The basement has a variety of video games for indoor fun. We can’t recommend this place highly enough. It’s become a special spot for our family vacations, and we’re already looking forward to our next stay!

Beautiful house and setting

This house was just what we wanted! Lots of room for our ladies get away. Big rooms, big kitchen table for eating and games. Lots of refrigerator space (2 full size, 2 mini)....two ovens....big cooktop. Several ice makers. So well stocked with soaps, paper towels, bathroom tissue, napkins, plastic forks etc along with so many places settings of flatware, dishes and steak knives. Most any utensil, pan, baking pan, bowls, etc you could want. 4 slice toaster, Keurig and regular coffee maker, crockpot.....you get the picture! And detailed things....from big spice selection.....to individual pre-pasted toothbrushes.....K-cup selection...hot apple cider mix....you get the picture. The view of the lake is stunning and it's a short walk to the water. The supplies and everything provided reflect the size of the property. Much thought went into this property as a vacation rental....and we benefited from it. Amos texted us right after we arrived and when we contacted him about a couple of small things, he responded right away. Great experience!
