Just the Ticket
Lovely spacious and well maintained villa in a beautiful quiet location away from the hustle and bustle of the main Algarve resorts. The support from the owners was excellent. Only minor point was that, despite the comprehensive directions, we had some initial difficulty locating it. That said, we are looking forward to booking it again in the near future.

Had a wonderful 4 day break at Villa Susana! Exactly as advertised and the views did not disappoint! A lovely welcome hamper awaited us on arrival consisting of beer, cheese, ham, butter, bread, milk, eggs and orange juice. Bed linen and towels provided, including pool towels. Also don’t miss out on the roof terrace for even better views!! All in all, a 5 star stay! Thanks Alex and Richard and family!

Relaxing break
A great villa made special by the wonderful views for miles around that really helped us to unwind. The outdoor area was perfect for eating and enjoying a barbecue. The pool was great for a family to enjoy and the mixed depths really made for good swimming practice. It is also a nice distance from the property so that those not engaging can still watch what is happening but also relax without the screaming and the splashing! Finally, Alex was a great host and so helpful and responsive to any questions which took all the hassle away. We would definitely recommend.

Our perfect vacation
Two snowbirds from Canada found the perfect getaway at Villa Susana. Quiet, in a country setting surrounded by orchards and a distant view of the ocean. The villa is all one could ask for - large living area, well equipped kitchen and comfy beds. Alex and Richard are wonderful hosts who attended to any and all of our requests immediately. We had a car so access to all the Algarve was easy and accessible. Loved every moment.

Lovely Villa with views
The villa was very clean and well equipped with everything you could possibly need. The swimming pool was a great size and enjoyed by all the family. Excellent views from both the patio area and the roof. Good supermarket in the nearby town and only about 30 minute drive from the coast. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the owners really made you feel welcome.

Solitude and oranges
Had a nice weeklong stay at Villa Susana. Alex was an extremely helpful and accommodating host. The property is comfortable and well-equipped for most people’s needs. But the biggest draw is the solitude, and the view. Nothing but wide open spaces, orange groves and bright blue sky. Anyone wanting a quiet location away from the hordes on the coast, this place is perfect.

Perfect home from home
We spent 6 weeks in Villa Susana from early January and loved every moment - so much so, that we've booked again for the same time next year The house has literally everything you'd need including an electric juicer so that you can have freshly squeezed juice from the oranges sold on the roadside Alex & Richard are perfect hosts and not only arranged for the wifi to be fixed but even upgraded to fibre broadband, so the WiFi now is spot on. They never intruded on our privacy but were always a message away if we needed anything The house is perfectly located 5 mins from an excellent supermarket in Messines and roughly 30 mins to most locations and only an hour to some superb beaches on the west coast. It isn't overlooked and is lovely and peaceful, with gorgeous views over the valley to the coast. Not for anyone who wants to be within walking distance of bars and restaurants but perfect to escape the worst of the British winter, surrounded by lemon and orange groves in peace & quiet. Missing it already and looking forward to next year

lovely family home in a perfect rural setting
We were only here for a short stay of 4 days but we got beautiful weather and were able to make the most of the gorgeous outdoor setting. Stunning views and so peaceful. We wanted to rest and recharge and were able to do that so easily. The villa itself is very spacious with 3 large bathrooms and air con in each bedroom. The kitchen is fully equipped and the Intermarche in SB Messines which is about a 10 min drive away has everything you need. Alex offers a comprehensive folder of information available online before you arrive. Every detail and question is covered. We felt very looked after and tried the restaurants she recommended which were fab. We would return without hesitation.

Lovely vacation in Algarve
We booked the house for 14 days. The price was reasonably. We found the location without any problems, the landlord gave us good directions. Upon arrival late evening, we found fresh bread and food suppplies to get us started, very nice thought and much appreciated the next morning! The house is wonderfull and very well equipped, so that you'll never miss anything in the kitchen. Three well sized bed rooms and three bath rooms gave us alot of space, never feeling crowded. There's a well kept pool and a nice terrace, so you will have no trouble just spending days at the house. The location was perfect for us, a lot of privacy but still in a good driving distance, when doing excursions. Unfortunately, we had a lot of troubles with the internet being extremely unstable, so we had to use our phones for hotspots. Bear that in mind, if you rely on good connection (work), like we did. Overall a very pleasant stay, fullfilling our need for a real summer vacation after COVID-19 lock down! Thank you Alex!

The perfect country getaway in Algarve
We were looking for a country house in the northern part of Algarve away from the touristy areas and found Villa Susana to fit all our needs. The location, the layout of the house and the overall decor were perfect. The pool and the amazing view made being outside so enjoyable we never wanted to leave! Alex made the perfect home away from home in the Algarve and we’d recommend her Vivenda to anyone looking for the quintessential Algarvian experience!

Magical setting
We had a lovely time staying at Villa Susana. It's in such a peaceful spot with gorgeous views as far as the eye can see. The garden is full of aromatic herbs, trees and flowers, and makes you feel somehow at home. The villa itself is really spacious and comfortable and the pool is wonderful. We had a great time exploring the towns to the east as far as Olhao and Tavira as well as all the beaches nearby including the beautiful Praia Do Camilo. The villa is ideally situated so as to be half an hour from the best beaches, and an hour or so in every direction to explore the rest of the Algarve. We look forward to coming back in the near future.

Beautiful Countryside Villa
Our family of 6 adults stayed at Villa Susana the last week of September and we had a wonderful vacation! The villa is as beautiful as the photos portray. It was very clean, spacious, well maintained and had everything you could want in a home away from home. The pool was a great size, very clean and was enjoyed by all after a long day of sightseeing. The lovely grounds, the gorgeous view and the quiet countryside made for a spectacular stay! We enjoyed many meals on the terrace and having the barbecue was an added bonus. Special thanks Alex for the welcoming gift of cheese, milk, bread etc.. as it was much appreciated after a long day of travel from Canada The town of Silves was just 15 minutes away and had everything we needed. The location was great for travelling to the beaches and towns of the Algarve . We enjoyed a delightful evening and a wonderful meal at Restaurante O Guerreiro located just a minute down the street from the villa. The salmon was delicious! For a special evening on an outdoor patio under a canopy of trees and white lights Restaurante O Barradas in Silves was fantastic. Thanks Alex and family for sharing your beautiful countryside villa with our family! We will certainly recommend it to any family and friends travelling to Portugal. Peace and Quiet
The villa was everything we expected as per the description. Being a family owned property its the little extras that make all the difference - Quality Towels, welcome pack, tea, coffee and spices, air fresheners, dishwater tablets etc for guest use and easy contact with the owner if needing any local advise on restaurants etc. We have been in many villas over the years during early May and we normally find that nothing is left in the villa as there has been no previous guests so you literally have to supply everything - so all the supplied items was a very welcome change. The villa is set in a very large plot with plenty of local walks if feeling energetic. If eating out you had to drive approximately 30 mins to good local restaurants but we did not find that too much of a problem. The villa is very well furnished with quality fittings and comfy beds for a change. Although we were a party of 4 adults the villa is ideal for a family group as the kitchen. lounge and dining area is one big super open area. Overall excellent.

Perfect, quiet villa but with good access to the Algarve
We had two weeks in the Villa Susannah and can highly recommend as a place to stay. Biggest surprise for us was the incredible views, you can see for miles all the way to the coast. The villa is on a big plot which means lots of space for games with the children and plenty of sunny and shady spaces. The size of the plot and the surrounding trees makes for a very secluded, private, peaceful space. It is easy to forget the villa is close to the Route National which makes it easy to get to other locations (a very well stocked supermarket within 5-10 minutes drive) and the coast from Almancil to Lagos can all be accessed within half-hour, 40 minutes max. Despite being fairly close to the main road, you won't hear any road noise - it is very peaceful. The villa is at the end of a short gravel track and the owners provide excellent directions with photos showing how to get to the villa. Inside, the villa is very well stocked, we wanted for nothing in the kitchen which included toaster, juicer(!) and good sized fridge freezer. Open plan kitchen / lounge is a great space, as are the bedrooms and very clean, modern ensuites. Two of the bedrooms have AC which was much appreciated!. Another surprise was full SkySports and Movie Channels - a very welcome luxury! The villa was very clean when we arrived and the whilst we were told we would have a change of linen after the first week, the full clean of floors was a pleasant surprise. Pool was also regularly maintained. Other than the supermarket and a couple of bakers, we didn't find much SB des Messines (the nearest town), but the medieval town of Silves is nearby and we found a few great restaurants in other nearby locations. The communications with the owners and local management company were great. This is one of the nicest homes we have ever rented and we hope to be back soon.

A beautiful retreat!
This home was absolutely beautiful and very well equipped with everything you might possibly need. The owner was readily available and helpful with any questions we had. The location of the home was on a crest of a hill overlooking fields of orange trees and lemon trees so the fragrance in the air was floral but crisp and clean as well. The view was absolutely breathtaking! The town was a five minute drive where we found a large, well equipped grocery store. Unbelievable beaches and quaint towns were within 1/2 hour drive. We took an easy daytrip to Lisbon which was two hours away. I would highly recommend this property and we hope to return and spend more time in this lovely HomeAway!

Perfect ...

Our stay at Villa Susana
After a tricky start as we lost our directions to Villa Susana we arrived about 4.30pm.We first noticed how peaceful the place was and the views breath taking! The villa was everything we wished for spacious comfortable with a well stocked kitchen.Although it was quite chilly when we arrived the following morning was glorious and temperatures soared through the day.The pool had the sunshine the whole day and Fernando the pool guy paid a visit and cleaned out a few leaves that had blown in mid week. Although Villa Susana is situated in the mountains it is only a short drive to the coast with amazing beaches. We visited Sagres which is a surfers paradise ,Praia da Luz and Praia da Rocha .Silves is only approx 5 mls away and is a quaint cobbled village which has a castle remains and a church with 'The Cafe Inglis' a good place to stop for refreshments,There are a good selection of supermarkets there also. If you take a walk around the villa grounds and the lanes look out for the deer we spotted them twice.If you do choose to stay at Villa Susana i'm sure you wont be disappointed!We will definately return, missing it already. Umständlich und mehr Schein als Sein
Auf den ersten Eindruck wirkt alles einladend u gepflegt. Mit einem Teelöffel habe ich das Fett am Kochfeld abgekratzt. Alle Pfannen nicht zu benutzen, weil ausnahmslos alle verkratzt sind. Auf der Sitzgarnitur im Wohnzimmer merkwürdige Nylon Schonbezüge. Poolspielzeug lag im Essbereich. Aussengrill komplett verdreckt. Im Wohn und Küchenbereich überall Zettel mit Anweisungen mit „tu dies nicht oder tu das nicht“. Sogar auf dem Kaminsims. Das Internet eine einzige Katastrophe! Da nützt auch ein Routerneustart nichts. Es wurde einfach eine zu schwache Leistung eingekauft. Die sehr nahe Straße nach Silves ist stark befahren. Wer Ruhe sucht, ist dort falsch. Mehrere Male wurde auf den Äckern direkt am Grundstück gebrannt so dass alles ins Haus zog bzw. wir konnten nicht lüften und auch nicht auf der Terrasse sitzen. Die Kommunikation mit den Gastgebern ist ausgesprochen umständlich. Man sollte sich noch in einem extraportal anmelden und diverse Dokumente runterladen und wieder hochladen. Hätten wir das vor der Buchung gewusst, wäre unsere Wahl eine andere gewesen. Wir kennen viele ländlich gelegene Häuser in Portugal. Dieses empfehlen wir nicht.

Big and well equipped house with a great view
A great place to stay at. First of all it's very clean. No need to be afraid of filthy bathrooms. Also, the house is really well equipped. The owners made sure that there is everything you might need. And if you still miss something just write a message to the owners and you will get a reply within a very short time - in our case, it was less than one hour (you can also call the owners if it's more urgent). The view from the living room is just marvelous and the pool is quite big - so swimming is possible. Staying with a group of friends would have been even better - the place just seems to be perfect to cook together and spend long evenings with some nice wine or whatever drink you prefer. Also, each of the three bedrooms has its own bathroom - so no awkward situations will occur. But it has been a great place for us as a couple, too. Of course, there are some downsides, too. Media installations are kind of outdated - the CD player wouldn't read any CDs anymore, the internet connection was terribly slow and that also meant that the TV would not serve any programs as it is IP-based - but we didn't come for watching TV so we did not mind. The pool heating does warm up to 8 degrees above the outside temperature - which is good but was just not enough in November when temperatures outside dropped to 15 degrees in the afternoon and 5 degrees in the night. Just do not expect a hot tub when there is a pool heating ;) The one thing we did not like was that we were not allowed to make use of the chimney. This was not mentioned before the booking was made and the chimney was one of the reasons to go for this house. But after all the positive impressions outweighed this and we were happy with our choice.

Eine kurze Auszeit im Paradies :-)
Wir hatten eine wundervolle Woche in der Villa Susanna. Das Objekt ist genau wie beschrieben und auf den Fotos abgebildet. Es fehlte uns an nichts! Die Villa ist top ausgestattet und sehr schön eingerichtet. Die ruhige Lage war fantastisch. Der Kontakt zum Vermieter war top. Alex war Tag und Nacht ansprechbar und hat das WLAN-Problem hervorragend gelöst :-) Wir kommen gerne wieder!

Séjour merveilleux !
2 semaines à la Villa Suzana de bonheur ! Une vue à couper le souffle ! La piscine est immense et sécurisée avec un portillon ce qui permets aux plus petits de ne pas pouvoir y aller tous seuls donc point très positif. Villa conforme aux photos, très propre et très fonctionnelle. Un grand merci à Alex (hôte) pour votre communication qui est très rapide et très réactive. Villa très bien située car à proximité de toutes les plages de l'Algarve (30 minutes) A 5 min se trouve la Ville de Sao Bartolomeu de Messines, avec un intermarché pour les courses. Le restaurant Joao la bas est très bon avec une cuisine typique. A faire : Restaurant Jardim rustico à Albufeira : excellent ! La ville de Silves est à 15 min, très belle ville (Café Da Rosa sur la place est merveilleux) Nous avons hâte de retourner dans cette villa !

wunderschöne ferienidylle
unsere familie hat die zeit in der villa susana sehr genossen. es hat ausreichend platz für alle. im grossen pool haben wir uns täglich abgekühlt. die schöne bepflanzung im garten, die sehr gut ausgestattete küche und das ganze ambiente hat uns ausserordentlich gut gefallen. wir werden die villa susana von herzen weiterempfehlen.

Na serra com vista para o mar
Um paraíso no Algarve optimo para quem quer descansar e simplesmente relaxar junto a piscina a ouvir os pássaros. Anfitriões super disponíveis que nos mimaram com um presente de boas-vindas. Casa limpa e arrumada e piscina deslumbrante. A vista do terraço é simplesmente divinal. Recomendo e pretendo voltar.

Perfect stay in a perfect villa
We had wonderful 2 weeks in this really comfortable house. Plenty of space, very private, beautiful views over the countryside, amazing sunrise & sunset. House, pool & garden very well maintained, kitchen equipment almost perfect. Villa Susana is a perfect starting point to discover the whole algarve - don't miss to visit Silves, Portimao, Lagos, Tavira, Olhao, Sagres, the Westcoast with the wonderful beaches and much more. Even some beautiful places in Baixo Alentejo are reachable in a hour or so - e.g. Mertola. Alex and Richard were great hosts and it was a pleasure to meet them. Thanks for the help and support in a difficult situation :-) We definitely want to come back!

Un petit coin de paradis
Nous avons passe un excellent sejour a Villa Susana. Nous etions 2 adultes et 3 enfants et nous sommes restes 2 semaines dans cette magnifique villa. La maison est spacieuse, tres agreable a vivre et la cuisine est incroyablement bien equipee. La piscine est magnifique, avec une superbe vue, et le coin barbecue est tres agreable pour tous les repas. Les instructions sont tres claires et Alex nous a toujours repondu tres rapidement. Nous recommandons ce petit coin de paradis!

Casa muito confortável & bem equipada. A piscina também foi óptima com belas vistas. A localização da casa ficava um pouco longe das conveniências. A caminho de terra até à casa difícil para carros normais devido aos altos. Devia de ser arranjado. The house was very comfortable & the kitchen well equipped. The pool and views were great. The location was a bit inconvenient for necessities and outings. Also, it was quite difficult to find. The dirt "road" leading to the house had too many high bumps, which could really cause damage to normal height cars. Yet, a very relaxing and comfortable time at the house. Thanks

Wundervoller Aufenthalt
Tolle Zeit in einer sehr schönen Villa. Von der Buchung bis zur Abreise hat alles bestens geklappt. Das Haus, der Garten, der Pool , alles äußerst sauber und es gab keinerlei Beanstandungen. Das Haus ist sehr gut ausgestattet, es fehlt an nichts. Der Kontakt zur Eigentümerin, Housesitterin, Reinigungskraft, Gärtner, Pool Boy, war ausnahmslos sehr freundlich. Wir hatten eine tolle Zeit, die Vila Susana ist sehr empfehlenswert.....leider war sie für das nächste Jahr für unsere Reisezeit schon ausgebucht.

Séjour très agréable, villa équipée et vue prenante.
Ce séjour nous a beaucoup plu, les propriétaires étaient disponibles et à l’écoute. Nous avons trouvé la villa dans un très bon état, propre. La cuisine est parfaitement équipée. Que dire de la vue et de l’ensemble de l’Algarve ?! Une région magnifique et des paysages somptueux. Des locaux accueillants, et de nombreuses spécialités locales à découvrir. Nous recommandons fortement cette région ainsi que cette villa, adaptée aussi bien pour les familles que pour les groupes d’amis.

Vrije staande rvilla in een rustige en omgeving en toch dichtbij de toeristische trekpleisters
Een goed gelegen vrijstaande villa met alle gemakken voorzien. De villa heeft alles wat je nodig hebt, een grote keuken met alle apparatuur die je kunt bedenken. Grote woonkamer met drie grote slaapkamers en aangrenzende badkamer. De villa ligt rustig maar dichtbij 200 meter van de doorgaande weg en dichtbij het dorp 5 minuten rijden waar er een grote supermarkt is. De villa ligt centraal gelegen in het binnenland en is met een auto 20 minuten naar de kust te rijden met de daarbij behorende toeristische dorpen. Voor ons een goede basis omdat de villa rustig is gelegen maar dichtbij alles is. Volgend jaar hebben wij weer geboekt!

Globalement satisfaits de la propriété
Villa bien située pour une visite de l'Algarve, confortable, au calme, avec des équipements de qualité et une vue bien dégagée sur la campagne. Correspondant sur place très réactif suite a un problème d'évacuation dans une salle de bains ( le problème a été solutionné dans la journée ). On regrette - que sur la période de notre séjour de 9 nuits, les draps et serviettes de bains n'aient pas été changés. - que le descriptif du bien ne fasse pas apparaître clairement qu'une des SDB est située en dehors de la troisième chambre.
