Hotel El-Djazair

Hotel El-Djazair

8/10 Good
"Lots of character and history, art deco bathrooms were stylish, and the Jardin is lovely. Nice pool too. Let down a bit by a not great breakfast selection, and being invisible to most of the bar staff. But overall glad I visited."

What is a historic hotel like in Algiers?
Historic hotels give guests the chance to stay in a building that has been officially recognised with a national historic designation. Historic hotels throughout the world can be palaces, castles, stately homes or even lodges, pubs or skyscrapers — any place of special interest. These types of hotels in Algiers often retain original elements like traditional architecture and period features in their communal spaces or guestrooms.
What is the difference between a historic hotel and a heritage hotel?
The two are similar. The term "historic hotel" is more common in the U.S., while you'll often hear "heritage hotel" in Asia and Europe. Historic hotels tend to focus on the building and architecture itself. A heritage hotel draws meaning mainly from the cultural value that the place has and how it shaped the community.
Do historic hotels in Algiers have modern facilities?
Yes. Every effort is made to preserve historic facades and treasured traditions, but hotel interiors are fitted with modern conveniences and safety features. Guests can expect the usual amenities you'd get from a hotel such as private rooms with updated bathroom facilities, heating and air conditioning, and free and fast Internet. In Algiers, booking a historic hotel doesn't mean you're picking a place that's rundown.
