"The place was just amazing. The views from all around the property is spectacular. The staff took such good care of us. We went for our 24th year wedding anniversary and we were given some Port wine and a bottle at the end of our stay. The people were all great. The included breakfast is so good. And the suppers were just as great. There is very little light pollution that at night we were able to see the milky way galaxy. We had a magical stay and thank you so much to the staff."

"This is truly a hidden gem in the beautiful Douro River Valley! When we arrived at this beautifully maintained historic casa, Daniel warmly welcomed us and immediately made us feel like part of the family that has owned the property for more than seven generations. Our room was exceptionally clean and comfortable, with double doors opening onto a patio offering spectacular views of the Douro River. We arrived around 6:00 p.m., just in time for a refreshing swim in the gorgeous pool. More than 7.5 feet deep and long enough for laps, it was the perfect way to relax after a day of travel. Vineyards surround the entire property, creating a truly special setting. That evening, Daniel and Paolo served a delicious dinner with wonderful local wines to us and the other 12 guests. We shared two large stone tables that looked centuries old. Dinner was served outdoors at 7:30 p.m., with an amazing sunset over the mountains and river as our backdrop. Sharing the tables allowed us to meet fellow travelers from Holland and Belgium, adding a pleasant social element to the evening. After traveling all day from Porto and visiting Quinta Nova winery, which we highly recommend near Pinhão, we were ready for a good night’s sleep. The next morning, we enjoyed a complete breakfast in the beautiful main dining room, including homemade pastries and delicious Pastéis de Nata. Our stay at Casa de Casal de Loivos was a highlight of our trip through northern Spain and the Douro Valley."

"This is a stunning property set in the hills of the Douro. Incredible views and very peaceful.Friendly staff and a very nice cold breakfast included. There were scrambled eggs available. Part of the charm is that you are off the beaten track but if you are not going for dinner in the village then bring your own snacks."

"Great wine tour, great food in the main restaurant, the Terrace Pizza place and the breakfast. Lovely pool overlooking the river. Great staff, very very helpful when we couldn't get a taxi (only problem in Pinhao). Stayed one night, only regret is not staying for 2 nights."
