Refund needed for permanently closed location.
I called before my arrival only to find answering machine stating the lodge was permanently closed and i needed to check with my booking agent for a refund.

Second time with Lazy best lodge. Enjoyed my first visit, had to come back again. Love the Hospitality clinginess friendliness and the wonderful home cooked breakfast meals I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking to get away add a wonderful relaxing location with the deer roaming around the property

They were not prepared by the time we checked in which was 4pm. The room was dirty, there was a leak which has caused black mold to grow. Looks like its been there a while. We mentioned it to the owner and he pretended he didnt know the leak and the mold were there. Mind you he had alrwady told us there was a leak since he had to go back in our room to turn the water on. Because they turn it off "so it wont leak".

This property is in a great location. However, the check-in process was horrible. We were questioned by other guest and the host. Finally at 10:30pm the host arrived and asked about our reservation. I advised i booked a king with balcony and the free breakfast and the welcom basket as advertised. No breakfast and no welcome basket was provided. Also, the priperty had no water due to a neighbor dispute in which the neighbor shut the water off to the property. The host brought us approx 3 gallons of water to flush the toilet and brush our teeth. The kitchen was dirty with stacked up dishes with food on them and the only trash can was overflowing. The host did iffer us a free future night stay, he said he would leave us a hand written note for the free stay but we never rcvd that note. Could not locate the host upon check-out and no one would answer the phone. I could go on and on but i dont have the energy.

Thanks so much for taking the time to write a review. We take all reviews very seriously. The positive ones let us know what we are doing right and the negative ones let us know what areas we need to address in our ongoing Quality Improvement initiatives. First off there is no need for me to be on the property when people are checking. I had 3 very able and willing staffers to handle any situation. I had run a couple errands in town. Upon arriving back at the lodge I was informed of your arrival and also of the water situation. We were given a time-frame of 2 weeks but literally were only given 4 days. We did everything we could to ensure the guests needs were taken care of. Yes I did bring you a jug of water to use to brush your teeth etc. There actually was a breakfast the next morning but you left really early before it was put out. And yes the offer for a complimentary night still stands. I didn't get it to you because of your early departure. Just call me if you would like to use it. I'm not sure what you are talking about when you say gift basket so ill look into that. Thanks again and have a blessed day initiaties.

We loved it, and so did my dogs! Lenny was very nice. The breakfast was delicious. Its a beautiful property wit wild horses walking around. It was the peaceful weekend we needed.

This is a great place to stay, great clean rooms and the service was excellent. Cozy And relaxing look forward to come back. Owner treat us like family. And we enjoyed some wild horses and deer from the deck view. Morning Pinon coffee and Delicious Breakfast experience

The best place to stay!
We had such a wonderful time staying at the Lazy bear lodge. We rented the jacuzzi suite and it did not disappoint. The room had everything we needed and the jacuzzi was perfect, especially after a day on the mountain. The pictures kind of make the room look small but it is really a decent sized room! The owner was such an amazing person. He even got up early to make breakfast for me and my son before we had to leave for ski apache and the breakfast was delicious. He is a very kind man who also supports the local community as well as the adaptive ski program that my son was in at ski apache. We will always stay here everytime we come out to ski apache.

I have stayed in several hotels/motels with my work and this was the absolute worst place I have ever stayed. Below are a list of pros and cons to this sham of a lodge. Unfortunately the cons are all things that are advertised and this location failed at OR has advertised and never actually offered. These people seem very nice but will try smooth talk you while stabbing you in the back. Some of the most two-faced property owners I have ever met. Con- 1. Wifi did not work at all (very important to have when you are somewhere new, in the mountains, and can't figure how to get anywhere) 2. There was no TV in the room and when they brought one up, they expected my wife and I to set it up to their network and update it. 3. The Hottub, in out bathroom, did not work and had not been properly chem serviced or had its filter replaced, in quite some time. It was absolute chaos for the maintenance man that didn't know what he was doing to begin with. 4. We were there for a 1 night stay and maintenance was in our room for 4 hours trying to fix that damn hottub. 5. The room temp was in the 90's throughout the night and there was no temp control at all. Even with the windows open... IN DECEMBER... wasn't enough to bring the temp down. Despite the room being so hot, the bathroom stayed in the 50's throughout the night due to the hottub chilling the surrounding air. 6. Our room was connected to the main section of the house so you can hear everything that goes on in the building

The positive ones let us know what we are doing right and the negative ones show us where we can improve or at least gives me a heads up as to where I need to look for improvement, whether it be staffing, cleanliness or response time. I was surprised to see your review and the obvious anger in the tone. Yes I do recall that we had a maintenance issue with the hot tub that was in your room and the maintenance man on duty did work on it for some time to no avail unfortunately. We did have to contact the supplier who had to come out and install a new heater for it. Unfortunately there are things that happen that are beyond our control. I remember our conversation about how hot it was in you room and basically most of the things you wrote about in your review we discussed the next morning while I was preparing breakfast for all the guests and I thought everything was ok between us. I did say that I would be glad to offer you a partial refund and offered a complimentary night in our 1 bedroom cabin. I advised you to contact the travel website you used to secure your reservation, they would forward me an email for me to approve and I would do it. I do believe that I received a text from you stating that you contacted them and they said I declined the request for a refund but I responded to you letting you know that I had not received anything from them. So I was surprised to listen to your threatening voice mail the same day you wrote the review and read the threatening email or text you sent. I had every intention of following through with my offer at the time. As you know because I responded to your text asking who you were because we had just made it through the Christmas season and were so busy that I was apologizing for the delay and that I had offered a few guests future complimentary stays, which I was able to work on the latter part of this week. Thank you for letting me know that you were not interested in a refund or a complimentary stay...that saved me a little time and money. As you can see from reading other reviews that the majority of guests love the Lazy Bear Retreat. I’m just sorry that you did not have a pleasant experience. God bless and Happy New Year!

Comfy and clean
We showed up and our room was double booked but the owner was Able to accommodate us. It’s a small drive to downtown but it’s a great location for skiers. We had to leave early the next morning and missed the delicious looking breakfast at owner was preparing.
