Fig Tree Cottage (1 Bedroom,Sleeps 2)

This is a newly renovated stone cottage with open plan kitchen/dining and lounge area. In the kitchen area there is an electric fan oven/grill with gas hob and extractor.
There is also a dishwasher, fridge together with electric kettle, toaster, microwave oven.
Above via a secure spiral staircase is a large bedroom with double bed and sofa bed. The ensuite bathroom consists of 1.20m shower cabin, wash basin and toilet.
The bedroom can also be reached by external stairs to a private terrace.
Access to the swimming pool is via further steps.
Also externally is a covered area offering shade and shelter if raining.

Charmante maison et très bon accueil

Harry a tout fait pour rendre notre séjour agréable. Maison fidèle à la description. Calme, piscine, à 5 km d'Amarante, en pleine campagne, à 1 h de Porto. Très bon séjour et très bonne conversation...en anglais, of course.

Sehr privates rustikales Häuschen mit Pool mitten im Grünen

Eine ganz besonders idyllische Lage, ruhig und dennoch zentral genug um ohne große Aufwendungen Ziele wie Porto, das Dourotal, oder auch die Costa Verde zu besuchen. Insgesamt freundliche Kontakte zum Vermieter. Das Häuschen etwas dunkel, dafür schön kühl, einfach aber zweckmäßig ausgestattet. Wir würden auf jeden Fall wiederkommen.

Relaxing holiday

Secluded,peaceful and relaxing . Very comfortable. Easy to find. Convenient to Amarante which has a supermarket which caters for all you need. Amarante is picturesque and is delightful. Owners are very friendly and helpful/

Amazing retreat

The cottage is in a beautiful setting surrounded by trees and you can hear the rivers - a real retreat from city life. The cottage was really comfortable and well equipped, we loved eating outside, trying and failing to spot the birds that we could hear in the trees. We made extensive use of the bread van, which comes every morning, allowing us to have sugary treats for tea every day. We took the odd break from swimming in the pool to go river swimming which was a real treat - worth the walk to find the swim at the old dam. Amarante is not too far away, and there is more to explore there than you might see at first glance. The art museum was really good, we borrowed (e.g. they were free) bikes from tourist office and did a really nice ride on the old train line from Amarante into the hills. Harry was really helpful in helping us find things to do without being at all intrusive and on top of that saved our bacon with the hire car. You do need a car to get to the nearest shop. Highly recommended.

We had an excellent weeks break in Fig cottage. The cottage is very comfortable and and had everything we needed during our stay. Downstairs stayed nice and cool during the hot weather. Harry and Tina were very friendly and helpful hosts wine and tomatoes were greatly appreciated. The pool was great especially as the weather was very hot during our stay. We ate breakfast on the private terrace as the sun came up and dinner under the vines in the evening listening to the crickets and other insects. The location is very quiet and peaceful but within easy reach on the attractive town of Amarante. Chris and Sue

Beautiful place in great region

Our stay at the Fig tree cottage could not have been better. The place is stunning with excellent connectivity. We loved every bit of our holiday and would fully recommend it.

Peaceful, relaxing stay away from the crowds.

We had a lovely 5 days at Fig Cottage. Harry was very welcoming and the cottage was well equipped and perfect for a peaceful break during a busy road trip in Spain and Northern Portugal. The swimming pool was a wonderful place to relax during the hot afternoons and we had it to ourselves most of the time. It was also a pleasure to sit outside under the vines to eat our meals. The cottage was just perfect and we hope to return soon.

A very nice stay in this lovely cottage

Peaceful cottage in a green environment, only 5 minutes by car from Amarante. Very clean swimming pool that was welcomed during this extremely hot week. The hosts are particularly friendly, helpfull and discrete.

Härligt ställe på landet

Vi uppskattade vårt boende väldigt mycket. Mysigt läge och nära till Amarante som vi också gillade väldigt mycket. Huset var välutrustat och rent och snyggt. Polen var ett stort plus också. Henry var trevlig och hjälpsam och bjöd på sitt hemmagjorda vin. Vi kan bara rekommendera om man vill bo på landet. Tack!

Nice apartment with a friendly owner.

This is a nice apartment with a clean swimming pool. We have spent three nice days here near Amarante. We had some problems with water and gas but it was all solved quickly by the friendly owner. Hessel.

Nice cottage, in green paradise!

We stayed here only four days in the beginning of May. Three of them were fairly rainy and that made the apartment a little cool, because there is no heating. An other lack was the poor connection of internet. It worked perfectly only by the swimmind pool. But we liked the place very much, and the host was very kind and helpful. We recommend the place!

Wonderful, peaceful and good facilities

Sorry it took so long! We stayed here for a week at the end of our honeymoon. We stayed in fig tree cottage and it was immaculately clean and had a good kitchen upstairs bedroom and bathroom with an additional door. A lot of space for 2 people. The pictures don't do it justice, we had a look at the other 2 cottages and they were really well restored and great for families or for couples to stay in separate accommodation and share a pool and various other facilities but all be together. If you want to be near a town with excellent facilities, but want peace and quiet, love the river and enjoy walking this is the place for you. I would hire a car though. The owners are a British/Portuguese couple who are really loving their good life style life. They also know how to have a lovely evening with a bottle or 2 of their own wine from their vines and make you feel really welcome. We haven't stopped talking about it since we got back. We are trying to find sometime to book back in next year. Keep in touch Clare and Spencer x
