THE HOUSE…
…Is a three-story home comprised of 4 bedrooms and 2-1/2 bathrooms. Two balconies provide 180° Monterey Bay ocean views overlooking Rio del Mar beach and the renowned SS Palo Alto “cement ship.” Swing in the hanging rope hammock chairs with your sunglasses on while basking in the warmth of the afternoon sun...the kids playing on the beach in front of you. Relax on the balconies with a glass of wine while watching the brilliant red, orange and yellow sunsets.

THE LOCATION…
…On “the island” of Rio del Mar in Aptos is a prime spot for beach fun, water activities, and nearby dining. You can stay there and never leave…or…go explore nearby Capitola, Santa Cruz and Monterey. There are an unlimited number of activities and sites including wine tasting, golfing, surfing, hiking, and beautiful drives.

…Is one you’ll never forget! You think it ever gets boring watching dolphins and whales off your back balcony? It does not. Perhaps the sound of the crashing waves doesn’t relax you? It always does. Or, maybe the feel of the sand under your feet doesn’t sweep you away? It will.

WORK, STUDY AND PLAY FROM HERE…
…If you must work instead of play for a part of your stay, then you can easily work-from-home and attend online school here. Great wifi access is provided. A desk in one master bedroom serves as a private office if needed. A child’s desk in another bedroom will be great for little ones in online school. Additionally, the dining room table and even outdoor patio dining table can serve as additional work and study spots.

House Rules: This is not a party house. Quiet hours start at 10pm. It's very important to stay off the rock seawall and neighbors patio. To access the beach, use streetside sidewalk and use the public stairs to the beach.

Our stay was great and just the break the kids needed before heading back to school. Very clean and accessible to all we needed. Would definitely recommend and look forward to coming back again. Moved back to California from Chicago and this definitely helped me remember why I came back home.

We had 8 people and the 2.5 bathrooms was key to everyone being comfortable. We made good use of the kitchen + the washing machine and dryer. Bathrooms are good sized. Both rooms with balconies have a beautiful view. Location is KEY! Excellent stay!

We stayed for four nights at the end of May and had a spectacular time! Loved being able to walk right out the door and onto the beach every night during sunsets and enjoy our coffee on the patio every morning and listen to the waves! Getting of chose a better place, if we tried! The entire experience from Checkin to check out was perfect

The property is wonderful and the beach as well. Parking on the street can be challenging especially on the weekends if you have more than one car in your group. Th three floors gives you a lot of options for your group when you have kids and adults. There were ants in the first floor and second floor guest bedroom on the headboard of the bed. This freaked out my adult daughter as she hates ants. All in all, it is a great property in a wonderful location.

This is an absolutely beautiful beach home to stay in. Up to date and modern fixtures and decorations, very comfortable bed, and incredible views as soon as you step inside and pull back the curtains! We received a warm welcome gift (thanks so much) and communication with the property manager was excellent from start to finish. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and I would recommend this place to anyone who loves ocean views, sleeping with the slider open to hear waves, and putting your toes in the sand with a few steps!

My friends and I booked this space to host a Bachelorette Party for 9 women. Location was perfect, we watched pods of dolphins feed each morning and enjoyed people/seal watching from the patio throughout the day. Kitchen is well stocked and there is plenty of couch space for 10 people. Bathrooms on each floor and plenty of bed space for our group. Only *suggestion* The downstairs TV is placed in an odd spot directly behind the couch and many people hit their heads on it. I would recommend mounting it higher on the wall or up in the corner to avoid it falling on a guest or having someone put their head through it! All in all, our time here was lovely and we enjoyed the space.

From the moment we stepped inside this cozy beach front home, we were captivated by the breathtaking view of the beach and ocean. As we ventured upstairs, the view only became more spectacular. It was the perfect setting for our family of 10, providing ample space and all the amenities we could ask for. The location is only a short walk to the deli, restaurants and coffee shop which was nice. But what truly made our stay unforgettable were the moments we spent on the back patio. We were fortunate enough to witness not just one, but two Humpback Whales, including a baby, as well as a playful pod of Dolphins. The proximity of these majestic creatures left us in awe, and we didn't even need binoculars to appreciate their beauty. Thank you Jaleh, for your exceptional customer service as our Property Manager. Your responsiveness exceeded our expectations. Your dedication to ensuring our comfort and satisfaction did not go unnoticed, and we are truly grateful for all that you did for us. We can't wait to return.

The house is right on the beach, which we loved. The house looked better in the photos and some of the furniture pictured was missing. Two balconies off the two bedrooms with ocean views were great. It would have been even better if they had chairs to sit at for morning coffee. The pictures show chairs on the balconies and that was a draw to me for booking so I was disappointed when the chairs were missing. Was not comfortable to sit on the balcony without them. The property is a little run down and with the recent storms, many of the close by homes were boarded up. The property to the side of us was a disaster with boarded up windows and debris all over the place. Not pleasant to look at. The property on the other side had unsightly ’no trespassing’ signs everywhere with warnings not to cross over the boarder between patios (even though there is a city ordinance stating there must be a thruway walking path along the beach side). The beds were very comfortable and the bathrooms were clean and nice with plenty of towels. We had plenty of room for our family. The kitchen was well stocked and great to cook in. All in all we had a great time. And spent time sitting on the beach which is steps outside the back door. We loved that!

The place is great, and the location even better. My only con was that the listing is strict about climbing over the rocks to get to the beach by any guests as well as not going onto either neighbors patio ( of which we complied). However, both neighbors used our patio to climb over the rocks to the beach…. So maybe a little less pressure on renters about it.

The home is beautiful & a great location. Easy to access the beach, restaurants, convenience store and just 4 miles from a Safeway. The bedrooms are on the 2nd & 3rd floors, so you'll need to be able to use stairs. The ground floor patio and decks on floor 2 & 3 provide spectacular views right on the ocean. There is a hose to rinse off sand from the beach but you need to go through the house to access it. The home next door is boarded up because of storm damage, however it does not distract from the beauty of this home. Relax & enjoy the beach in this home.

The place was great with incredible views. I had to do some work on the trip so using the desk on the top floor, facing right out to the ocean was fantastic. We were able to park right outside the front door, which was nice. there were a few small eateries walkable and a ton of options within a short drive. The kitchen was well stocked and we even had a welcome bottle of local wine. Beautiful bathrooms and lots of beds. Decor, patio furniture, etc. was all just as described in the pictures. A lounger or 2 on the patio would be a nice addition. My only complaint is for this price point, you really should be able to access the beach directly from your patio. They explained this clearly in the listing so I wasn't surprised, but I did notice that that some neighbors had steps through the rock wall directly to the beach so hopefully that is something the owners will consider in the future. But it wasn't hard to just go out to the street side and walk around the building to get to the beach. Overall, a very nice place with a 5 star view!

The description is accurate - condo and view truly are jaw-dropping and you can hear the waves. We had 3 adult children (20 somethings) and parents (55-ish) and we all found things to enjoy together and separately. The walks in both direction along the shore are amazing - and we even walked up the hill to town one night. A treasured time and memory.
