Modern Luxury & Sweeping Views in Arroyo Seco/Taos. Welcome to Walking Rain
IF RESERVING FOR DATES DURING SKI SEASON, A 4x4 VEHICLE IS A MUST. THIS HOME IS ON A GRAVEL ROAD AT ELEVATION.
Nestled in the Sangre de Cristo foothills, also known as El Salto, Walking Rain represents Taos & Arroyo Seco living at it’s finest. Walking Rain was carefully designed to capture breathtaking views in every direction. The large west-facing deck provides commanding views of the valley below with a distant backdrop of Georgia O’ Keeffe’s beloved Pedernal, bathed in spectacular New Mexico sunsets. The eastern deck is the perfect place to have your morning coffee, while taking in the morning sun, with stunning mountain views.

There are three bedrooms and 2.5 baths; the master with a large wrap-around walk-in-closet. An abundance of closet space throughout, including a classic ski-village inspired mud-room at the garage entry.
What will strike guests the most is the light, the feeling of privacy, and the views from every window. Had the best stay for thanksgiving week with 5 adult family members and our dogs! Very quick drive into Taos if you want to explore town, and close proximity to many hikes if you are feeling adventurous. The Mountain View’s were amazing and accommodations were great - would definitely work even for a larger group than ours. Kitchen was well stocked so we were able to make thanksgiving dinner and many other home cooked meals while we were there. Felt very safe with the security measures at the property as well. Would definitely stay again!
Everything about our stay was perfect from start to finish. Our group of six adults (friends and family) really appreciated having such a lovely and welcoming home to relax and enjoy each other’s company. The views from the deck were simply spectacular! The home is beautifully appointed, spotlessly clean, and for those who appreciate a well equipped kitchen—you will LOVE this one! All six of us agree, this place is truly amazing. Thank you for sharing your lovely home, Bryan!
Better than the photos! Another lovely stay with very responsive home owners and property manager. Home is extremely well appointed for all your needs.
We loved the property, and you can tell the owners also do. Their attention to detail was amazing. We loved the location very picturesque! Home is more than just another rental home, it's lived in and loved and we appreciate that. The pictures on the site don't do it justice. It is truly a wonderful home. We will definitely be returning for ski season!
It rained all weekend but the home made the stay magical anyway. Only problem was we planned to cook quite a bit and the oven was on the blink. Burnt a couple of dishes.
When the rain would allow us 1 hour of partial sun the views are spectacular - right from the living room sofa.
We thoroughly enjoyed an extended work/play stay at beautiful Walking Rain this summer. We could not have asked for a more accommodating, welcoming property and hosts. From the first inquiry, and throughout our entire stay, all our questions and concerns were met with accurate and thorough communications. Lesley, Juliana and Bryan are the most gracious hosts! We truly have never felt so welcome! One of my special needs, as a visually compromised individual, is good lighting. The lighting here is top notch, and I could see so well in every room! That is really appreciated more than many people realize. The home was so far above our expectations based on previous properties in the region. The cleanliness and well maintained details of the house, the accommodations for guests with various interests, the well stocked kitchen, all aspects of Walking Rain exceeded our expectations. The appliances were better than in our own home, and all the systems on the property were customizable to our needs with the alpine variations in climate. The communications and property care requests for guests are thorough, and every accommodation is offered to meet the expectations of the hosts. We had zero issues with anything! PLUS - The outside of Walking Rain is as lovely as the inside - gorgeous gardens and orchard, the majestic mountain views, and the delightful village if Arroyo Seco nearby, made us never want to leave… We look forward to a return next year! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!
Beware of Hidden Charges and Invasive Monitoring: A Nightmare Experience
I wish I could give this VRBO experience zero stars, but unfortunately, that's not an option. I would strongly advise anyone considering booking with this host to proceed with extreme caution.
First and foremost, let's talk about the outrageous additional cleaning charges. After checking out, I was shocked to discover that not only was there a hefty cleaning fee, but the host had the audacity to tack on even more charges without providing any instructions on what was expected in terms of cleaning. As a responsible guest, I went out of my way to leave the property in a tidy state, even doing the dishes despite not being instructed to do so. Imagine my disbelief when I was informed that I would be charged for additional cleaning, simply because the host demanded it.
But wait, it gets worse. Not only does this host sneakily add on extra charges, but they also have the nerve to monitor guests through cameras to count the number of people staying in the property. Talk about an invasion of privacy! It's one thing to have security cameras in common areas for safety reasons, but to use them to spy on guests and nitpick about the number of people present is absolutely unacceptable.
In conclusion, my experience with this VRBO host was a disaster. From hidden charges and accusatory language to invasive monitoring, this host has demonstrated a blatant disregard for their guests' rights and well-being. Save yourself the headache and avoid booking with them at all costs.
