Hotel Bedford

8/10 Good

"The restaurant downstairs was convenient and the food was good. The staff were very helpful and accommodating especially with our bike storage. I really liked the historic aspects of the building."

Hessenland Inn & Schatz Winery

8/10 Good

"Very nice property. Clean and well kept. We booked one night over the Thanksgiving weekend and were surprised when receiving text messages that the reception would be closed and we had to enter by locating a lock box which would have the key to our room. Second text messages sounded like we would probably be the only guests in the hotel. Upon entering the hotel prior to the reception closing, we were able to get our key and we were told that we were the only guests in the hotel overnight and the lobby would be closed and we would have to exit and enter the hotel through a side locked door. Al though the property is quite nice and the people I dealt with through text messages and the gal at the reception were very nice, I don't think I would have stayed there if I knew that there would not be anyone else in the building."

Staybridge Suites Kincardine Southeast by IHG

Benmiller Inn & Spa

8/10 Good

"The Ben Miller Inn is an 1880's woollen mill set in a beautiful wooded area with hiking trails all around. This time of year the maple trees put on a beautiful display of colour. We stayed 2 nights while attending a family wedding on the property. Check in was friendly and efficient. They give you 3 actual keys to open your building (there are several), your room and the pool area. The locks are old and it takes a bit of patience to get them to work properly but they do the job. Our room was spacious and well appointed, with a whirlpool bath, king sized bed and a huge window overlooking the river. There was no safe, which would have been nice and the furnishings were a bit worn. New drapes and some new artwork would have spiffed things up at minimal cost. There's a very large, very clean indoor pool you can probably have to yourself. It was well maintained but the same could not be said of the plant display at the top of the stairs - one large plant was completely dead and another was on its way out. Removing them would be a big improvement. We ate dinner in the dining room one evening and had a very positive experience. The server was friendly, helpful and experienced. The menu was quite varied with reasonably priced entrees. Food was done perfectly and their wedgie potatoes were the best I've had anywhere. Little candles on the tables provided a little ambiance along with the beamed ceilings and stonework ."
