The Red Dragon House

The Red Dragon House is a great location for those who wish to discover Ashland, along with the southern Rogue Valley, but still get that rural feeling while remaining only minutes from town. The single-story house is spacious at nearly 1,000 square feet, and features mountain views of the southern Rogue Valley. The house features a large open living room/kichen area, with lots of counter space, two well-appointed bedrooms and a bathroom shower, suitable for those with mild handicaps, and has three decks from which to choose, all on a property that is 5.2 acres, in a rural neighborhood, that's quiet. All this only five minutes from the nearest restaurants and markets, and ten minutes from Downtown Ashland, and the Mt. Ashland Ski Area is only 19 miles away!

While the neighborhood is quiet, it should be mentioned that the property is adjacent to I-5, which makes getting to us easy, but does provide some road noise. So, if it's total quiet you require, this may not be the best fit for you, though the there is no road noise inside the house.

What a great spot!

Above and beyond! Immaculately clean and these folks have considered every last detail to make your stay comfortable. The property is beautiful! I highly recommend staying here and I'll definitely be back!

Family Visit

Situated just outside of town. Secluded and quiet. House is comfortable and encourages relaxation. Kitchen is well stocked. Beds are quite comfortable. Mike and Mindy are house proud of their rental and it shows in the attention to details.

Fantastic Peaceful Property

Wonderful

This is our second time staying here. We love the property out and away from everything. Mike and Mindy are so helpful, and everything very neat and clean. After a long day of driving we enjoyed sitting on the back patio and relaxing before dinner. Hope to return next year.

Charming

The property was cheerful and comfortable in a lovely setting. There is a helpful welcome book and all the cabinets are labelled.The only low note is that I got lost getting there. If you start in the middle of town, Main St. splits at one point. The right side takes you where you want to go. The left leads you to California.

Hands down this is one of my favorite places. It's beautiful inside and out. Quiet, private but a short drive to all things Ashland. Even my dog felt right at home. The hosts are so welcoming. The covered deck was perfect for morning coffees. I can't say enough good things.

Great communication and great house

The house is exactly as billed and super comfortable for my wife, my dog and me. This was our second visit. We had a little trouble with our arrival time due to bad road conditions and our hosts were super flexible and communicative. We will definitely stay there again!

Perfect!

Arriving after a long drive, we found The Red Dragon House to be warm and welcoming. Our teen was thrilled with the excellent selection of snacks. We stayed less than 12 hours due to our driving schedule, but hope to return one day when we have more time to spend. Will definitely go back!

Spectacular!

Everything about the Red Dragon House was wonderful! The house is spotless and comfortable, with three (!) porches each with spectacular views of the Siskiyous and Cascades. Perfect for the elderly and families as well. Mike and Mindy were perfect hosts, as were Toby and Samantha. The ground squirrels were the cutest things as well. We stayed a month and didn't want to leave--we'll be back!

Our retreat during the heat

Fun decor, wonderful hosts (including Toby the dog), and a great place to hang out with family (or to watch the local Acorn woodpeckers, nuthatches, scrub jays and ground squirrels if you are nature-lover like my mom) via the two decks and firepit. Super appreciative of the way Michael and Mindy have set this space up to host their canine guests and how helpful and responsive they were when we had questions. We visited Ashland when temps were high and the McKinney fire was throwing a lot of ash in the air. We were grateful to have this cute space to retreat to when it was too hot to be outside. Still can't quite decide which dragon in the house is my favorite but probably leaning toward the red dragon near the TV - (it lights up!). Thank you a lovely stay Michael and Mindy!

This is our third year at the Red Dragon House and every year it gets better. Mick, Mindy, and Tobi are all excellent hosts and make us feel at home. The house is clean and comfortable. Perfect!

A couple of things

Nice house, kind hosts next door, great dog set up. Two things to be aware of: the property is double gated, gates set off by car on the way out, so you can't walk off the property. Unless there is some hidden button that is not obvious or in the house instructions...The coffee set up is Keurig only, so bring your own gear if you care!

Quaint but close to everything

The house was extremely cozy and comfortable. It was fairly isolated and yet only 10 minutes away from good breakfast spots and everything else. We also were able to meet the horses which was very fun. We didn't have pets but the house seemed perfect for anyone with them. Only bummer i guess was that we weren't able to sign into Netflix, but that's super minor. We just ended up watching a ton of cold case files haha would 100% stay again

Daughter’s Birthday Trip

The owners provided detailed instructions on how to find and access the property. The home is delightfully decorated with dragons galore. I considered counting them all, but soon gave up the plan as too time-consuming! The property feels remote, with views of the hills. The house is surrounded by grass, trees, and a fence obscuring the farther houses. We couldn’t hear the freeway from the house. The hosts live next door, and greeted us briefly when we arrived. Mike introduced us to their horses, and we enjoyed watching them gambol in the nearby pasture. The house is comfortably furnished and has everything you’d need. The house manual provides clear and complete instructions and information. Signs and labels help you find what you need. These experienced hosts have created a charming place to retreat, relax, and explore the area.

What a fabulous getaway

A truly wonderful home away from home. A great space that feels like a stay out in the country, but just a 10 minute drive to all that downtown Ashland has to offer. The best stocked vacation rental we’ve ever stayed with. The attention to detail to make our stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible was evident in every aspect of the home. All with plenty of space to spread out, inside and out.
