Cozy cabin stay
Had a great time celebrating the new year with a stay at the Avery Lake cabin. Beautiful view and we loved the wood burning fireplace. Great house for a friend and family trip. Grateful it was dog friendly too!
Beautiful cabin. Cleanest VRBO we have ever stayed at. Really loved this place. Wanted to stay at Avery Lake to bring my Father one more time before he passes. Owner was really flexible when he got hospitalized during our initial planned stay. Can not say enough good things. Only improvement I can think of is updating the listing to make it clear it’s located on a channel that goes out to the lake. We were a little anxious going because we weren’t 100% the channel connected until we got there.
As beautiful as the pics are, they really don't do it justice...this place is gorgeous! While there are neighbors on both sides, it is very quiet. The lake access was great! We rented a pontoon and went fishing daily. The house is spacious and well appointed and the attention to detail is amazing - they have really thought of everything you could possibly need for your stay! It was a fantastic family vacation. We hope to be able to visit again!
I have stayed in many VRBOs over the years and this home is the nicest appointed I have ever stayed at. It had all the little things that most VRBO renters don't think of or don't bother with that make a big difference in comfort and convenience.
Great for families for a nice up north stay.
House was very clean and cozy and the beds are super comfy. Great variety of kitchen wares and of great quality also, which isn’t common, so thank you for that! Of course the game room is always a hit. The location is sweet if you like being out in the boonies and want to unplug and go exploring.
The house was lovely. We stayed with another couple, there was plenty of space for the four of us.
We loved the rustic decor, so cute!! We had a great time staying in this house, It was clean, and set up well to cook at the house.
We enjoyed the kayaks, we took several relaxing strolls around the lake.
The corn hole game was a nice bonus to get outside and enjoy the weather.
We would definitely recommend this house.
Had a wonderful time. Cabin is beautiful and was wonderfully decorated for Christmas. We were hoping to do more winter outdoors activities, but the weather did not cooperate. We did, however enjoy our time together playing games as a family and watching some Christmas movies.
The cabin is definitely off the beaten path, but we loved the secluded little neighborhood.
The cabin had wifi, but cell service in the area is very limited.
We had a wonderful stay! The well stocked home was perfectly clean and ready. The fish weren’t biting but the whole family had a fun time out on the lake. Campfires each night for s’mores or pie irons. We aren’t familiar with horses so we didn’t know the near by equestrian campground was going to be upset with our bike ride when we were off exploring! Oops! Won’t make that mistake again. Owners were great with communicating what we needed. Great place to stay!
The house was lovely - clean, inviting, & well appointed especially in the kitchen. Plenty of outside space - perfect porch, fire pit, & small dock. Garage access was nice with dogs as a staging and clean up spot before entering the house. Nice walking/hiking options both around the small neighborhood and the vast trail system that is steps from the door which allows endless outdoor exploration. Good location for day trips - ~30 mins to Gaylord & under 1 hr to Mackinaw City/Island & Alpena. Lastly, but critical, the primary bed was comfortable. There was even a massive dog bed that our pups took full advantage of. All in all, the space felt like home.

Clean and well-appointed, but no privacy
The property was clean, well appointed, and nicely laid out for our group. The second living room was the perfect place to have the early-rising children sit and watch tv while allowing others to sleep. It was obvious that the owners care about their guests' experience. My only complaint with the rental was the privacy. Since vrbo can't list the addresses prior to booking, you rely on the accuracy of the online photos and other guests' reviews. Upon pulling up, I was immediately disappointed in the lack of privacy. Standing on the deck you can see 10 other houses, and directly into the next door neighbor's living room. Neighbors were walking across the lawn to talk to each other. We spent the bulk of the time trail riding (access to trails was excellent) so this was ok because we weren't around all that much, but when we were, we opted to mostly stay indoors for this reason. I will say that the next door neighbor was friendly. I just wish the listing more accurately reflected the home's position relative to other homes, as we would not have booked it if it did and we wont book it again for this reason. I will also add for those looking to ride the trails - the owner had their pontoon on a trailer in the driveway, so between the two trucks with trailers and 2 side-by-sides we brought up, the driveway was packed full. There was access to the garage, which was a big bonus for when it rained. It's a great house and the owner's obviously care, just be aware of the above
Fabulously decorated with all the up-north atmosphere you could ask for and still gives you the comfortable feel. There is just about everything you need to have a great time staying here. Kitchen was very well equipped and worked well.
