Amazing experience
Staying here was an amazing experience. We were a couple in our 70’s with three adult children who brought their spouses and own children ranging in age from 1 1/2 years to 15. There was something for every age group to enjoy—all the kids fell into bed exhausted every night after playing hard all day. The home, while not fancy, was clean and offered enough space for each family to have space for privacy. It was also incredibly well stocked; more generously than most, not only providing more than enough towels, shampoos, and soaps but also unexpected amenities like ice chests for borrowing, stand mixer in kitchen, lots of suntan lotion, lighter fluid/wood for firepit s’mores night, etc etc. We were actually glad that there was no lakefront because there were so many young nonswimmers, but guests should be aware of possibility. The pool and hot tub were well used and appreciated. David, our host, was the most involved and helpful host we’ve ever had. He met us the first day to walk us through the property, and texted every day to check in and make sure there were no problems. He gave us breakfast burritos on the first morning, and warm cookies on our last, all devoured gratefully by our hordes. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

Amazing property!
This is one of the best properties I have stayed on! We had so much to do from playing badminton to playing sand volleyball. I would recommend this property for a great family vacation. It has everything you would need!

A 65th Birthday Celebration Full of Memories
If David could host every VRBO property, I would stay in them all. From the initial contact, until the day we left, he was amazing and helpful every step of the way. It was winter and the lake was down, but that did not stop the fun. There was no lack of entertainment on the property. It was a perfect place for all ages - my 7 siblings, their children, and a few of my nieces and nephew's children, were able come and reunite. I HIGHLY recommend this property to anyone looking for a space for your family or group to gather, cook, play, "chill", have some space for free moments to yourself and on top of that, be hosted by the best! Camp Sandy is all that much, much more. My family was complimentary of every aspect of the facility and of our host. LOVE Camp Sandy!

Super host, David, went above and beyond! Amazing hospitality from a personal tour upon check in to special treats during our stay! Fully equipped kitchen and bathrooms with extras! David thought of everything to make our stay comfortable! This home met all of our needs from 6 months to 92 years. The property is amazing! You could easily stay here a week without leaving. We did venture out to recommended restaurants, wineries, hiking trails and enjoyed personal chef, Mike, New Year’s Eve! Absolutely a fantastic experience! David, thank you for sharing your property with us!

Loved the property and the property manager. If there had been water in the lake it would have been even better. Also you will need to have bottled water to drink and cook with in this property which would have been nice to know. Everything else was perfect.

Amazing Experience
Camp Sandy is nothing short of amazing. The property owner/manager has to be the best I have ever had. They truly take pride in ensuring their guests have a wonderful experience. The property itself was everything we hoped it would be. We were there for a Bachelor party and never wanted to leave. There was just so much to do. We had an absolute blast. Camp Sandy comes well stocked with all you need for a fun weekend along with very comfortable beds and clean bathrooms. I would stay here again in a second and I encourage you to as well.

Perfect destination for families
The owners have done a fantastic job making Camp Sandy feel like a private family resort with full amenities. We had 4 families staying there with 6 kids under the age of 4. There was so much space and activities on site that we never wanted to leave. In fact, we canceled some plans one afternoon to spend more time at the pool. The owners went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed for the stay and even treated us with a few Austin staple treats. It was such a lovely surprise! The hospitality was top-notch! We hope to be back some time when the water levels are up so we can enjoy the lake-side perks too.

The best weekend
Camp Sandy is a gem of a place. The gracious owner, David, goes the extra mile to make sure his guests have a wonderful experience. We travel each Labor Day with 6 families and this year's trip landed us at Camp Sandy where we had a wonderful time. David was so welcoming and helpful, and he made sure we had everything we needed (and even surprised us with some amazing treats). The beds were so comfortable that we slept like babies, and the swimming pool was the perfect way to cool off on a hot day. We also enjoyed cooking our meals in the fully stocked kitchen, and we loved eating together at the beautiful dining room table. The beds are comfortable, the swimming pool is sparkling clean, and the kitchen is fully stocked. There is so much to do, we never once heard "we're bored" from the four teenagers! There are games, swings, a volleyball court, video games, pool, shuffleboard and so much more! If you are looking for a relaxing and enjoyable weekend getaway experience, I highly recommend Camp Sandy. David will make sure you have a wonderful time.

Bachelor Party Perfection
We had a group of 15 guys for my bachelor party. This was the perfect spot. So many great areas to hang out and an abundance of activities. David went above and beyond to help us get settled and surprised us with breakfast delivery our first morning and a delivery of baked goods on another day. Wish I could give higher than 5 stars. Best VRBO Ever!
David and Emily were extremely accommodating and helpful hosts. I appreciated their overcommunication leading up to the stay. Upon check-in they did an excellent job of running me through the must knows of the VRBO. The property was clean, comfortable, stocked with necessities, and packed with activities to keep a group entertained. The house is located very close to a grocery/restaurant area as well as the lake. Absolutely no complaints, private, quiet, peaceful, and fun! Will be back again for sure.

Family reunion
We were a group of 16--ages 2-68 from NY, MI, and CA. We love bed the space in the house, the pool and the grounds. We had fun making most meals at the house with plenty of equipment. My son particularly enjoyed using the smoker. We ventured out to the lake, to see the bats and rent boats. We had great communication with Emily and David. We appreciated the treats they sent us.

From initial contact to booking and arrival this transaction has been fantastic. Owner has been top shelf on all aspects of rental. Property is HUGE accommodating everyone comfortably. Rooms were fresh and bright with nice furniture. Great room was incredibly large and allowed for all of us to gather (22 adults and kids). Outdoor area was equally greasy with a large pool and great outdoor kitchen/picnic area. We will definitely rent again!!

Book it! You won’t regret it :)
We have stayed at many vacation homes, and this has been our favorite by far! Emily and David were wonderful hosts and very accommodating. They are attentive without being intrusive. The property is amazing and exceptionally clean. If you are hesitant to book because of the low lake levels, you won’t even miss it. There is enough room for everyone to spread out and sleep comfortably, and the common spaces are big enough to fit your entire group. We especially appreciated not having to pack linens, cooking supplies, firewood, or chairs. Everything is there that you could possibly need. The property is secluded while still being close enough to town for grocery trips or deliveries. We never had to leave! Thank you David for creating this amazing place and thank you Emily for being so attentive and friendly. We will be back!

Camp Sandy is a special treat for our family vacation
This property is always pristine. Everything is clean, everything works, everything is provided. There are so many, many entertainment venues on this property. Even with the low lake we enjoyed the pool, the putting green, the badmitton, the corn hole and also being inside under the air conditioning playing games, suffleboard, pool and cooking and enjoying being together. David is the all time best owner/property manager: he care about this property and the guests who choose to come. Camp Sandy is a jewel!

Camp Sandy was an absolute delight. David was extremely attentive, made sure we had a thorough understanding of the property, and was responsive when we had questions. The house was well-stocked with kitchen and bathroom supplies, and if anything was lacking, David made sure we got it. We had ample room for us (a family of 23) and the food between the multiple fridges. We were able to stay cool given the over 100 degree weather this weekend and we also were very excited to make use of the meat smoker for some brisket! While the lake is low because of drought, there is a lovely pool and hot tub - and you can easily drive to a nearby lake entrance to swim or kayak. David went above and beyond to make us welcome, sending treats one day and coming by to bring extra fans and breakfast tacos another. The location is very close to stores and restaurants, but also feels very private and quiet. Both David and Camp Sandy have given our family a lot of happy memories and we would love to return.

Amazing family reunion location
I immediately felt comfortable booking this location after the promptness of response from David when I inquired about the property. He called me within days of booking to introduce himself and tell me about his property. He sent over a document as well with all points we discussed. The property was amazing. We had an age range of 8 months to 70 years old. Everyone had something to do on the property. Most of the items we brought from home we didn’t end up needing because the house already had it. There were fans outside in many locations on the property that helped us stay cool in these summer temperatures. He had Italian pizza oven for us to make our own pizzas, a smoker to smoke meat, multiple fridges to help store food for our large group, and many more amenities that made our stay there wonderful. You can tell that the layout and whole space has been thought out thoroughly and with attention to detail. He has created a great place for families to meet and spend quaintly time together. David was a phone call away with anything we needed. I am so happy we stayed there.

Wedding weekend
My fiancé and I found this house to stay with our wedding party the weekend of our wedding and it could not have been more fun for our group. David was so helpful and accommodating, letting us see the property a few months early, being so quick to respond with questions, and going out of his way to ensure we had everything we needed. We had an amazing weekend at Camp Sandy. There is so much to do and having the pool is a really great way to stay cool and entertain the group. Location is also nice with it being a short ride into the city while still having your own privacy. Bachelor Party Getaway Weekend!
This was hands down one of the best properties i have visited! Absolutely every possible thing you may need is at the house! Love the pool and hottub! Sand volleyball court was a major hit for our group of 16! Very close to downtown Austin to check out 6th Street and Rainey Street! Host also had freshly baked cookies delivered while we were staying there! Gotta go visit Terry Blacks BBQ as well best ive ever had! All in all David and Emily went above and beyond to ensure we had the best time possible!

Our very large group stayed here and comfortably slept 17. The place is stocked with EVERYTHING you would need, ample towels, coffee, plates/dishes, toilet paper/paper towels, and so many activities to keep you entertained! It is truly a magical place to bond and create lasting memories and I have never had better communication with an owner than we had here. A must stay in Austin, thank you for Everything!!!!

Perfect Spot for Large Groups
We were a group of 19 guys for a bachelor party and there could not be a better spot for a trip to Lake Travis/Austin. The house itself is as advertised - large kitchen, living room, and dining room, ample beds, clean, and well maintained. The outdoor area is also as advertised and speaks for itself. It has tons of space and many activities already setup and ready to go (volleyball, badminton, pool, outdoor kitchen, cornhole). Austin and other parts of the lake are easily accessible via car (ubers/lyfts were generally available). Overall, this was a top notch stay. One thing to note is the water level was so low it didn't actually reach the dock, but nothing can be done about that obviously. Just something to keep in mind for Lake Travis in general.

Bachelor Party - September 2022
Between the photos & reviews the bar was set high yet I was still absolutely blown away and the entire trip exceeded my expectations. By far the best customer service I have ever had when renting a home. And the best/nicest home I have ever stayed in. I stayed here for my bachelor party and it was a huge success. Finding a comfortable/spacious place for 20+ is hard enough...but we had MORE than enough space. And we took full advantage. Being located just 30 min outside of the city was also huge. Quick trip to/from airport...and we were able to set aside a day to spend in the city as well. All of the recommendations via David were spot on. Such a huge help as we are not from the area. Emily was 5-star service. Beginning at the house tour on Friday afternoon during check-in all the way through check-out on Monday morning. She was available via text & very accommodating throughout the weekend. Just a very pleasant person to communicate with. Side note - I also do have a large family full of nieces/nephews/etc. and this place would also be an absolute no brainer to stay with all of them. It's got everything you could possibly want/need for both adults & kids. Although this is (hopefully) my last bachelor party, I hope it's not my last time at Camp Sandy. Thank you David. Thank you Emily. This is a weekend the 20+ of us will most definitely remember !!!

Love Camp Sandy!
We had a group of family and friends out for Labor Day weekend. Really can’t say enough good things about the host and property. My four year old cried when we left he enjoyed himself so much! It’s a beautiful home with everything we needed and more. Great set up for a large group. The outdoor pavilion was the favorite gathering spot, even when it rained the pavilion was mostly dry, and we were able to swim, play volleyball and soccer all right there with views of the lake. David sent us so much info when we booked on things to do in the area and personal chefs and was very responsive to questions. Emily was our contact when we checked in and for the weekend and could not have been more responsive and kind. Based on recommendations, we had Mike out for a shrimp boil. He was great - great guy and great food. Riviera Marina was close by and easy to use for a pontoon boat. We are already planning to book Camp Sandy again we enjoyed it so much. We had a family reunion, ages from 6mos to 82yo. Outside was well equipped with fun areas and activities. Even with a low lake level, we were very entertained. Inside was had a large family room for hanging out, kitchen was well equipped and well stocked with supplies. We were searching for a fun space to host our staff appreciation party, and Camp Sandy couldn't have been more ideal for the occasion. To start, David was a wonderful host! He was incredibly helpful, kind, and welcoming from the moment we inquired to the day of our event. He was quick to respond to any of our questions and checked in frequently to ensure all was well. Not only did this make for a very positive planning experience, but also helped us feel confident in our decision to book. If you're reading this... thank you, David! And, that's before we even get to the property! Not only is this a beautiful property positioned right on Lake Travis, but also the number of activities is practically endless. The lake's been lower this summer (which David was quick to address truthfully), but it doesn't take away from the experience at all. From the pool to the volleyball court to the outdoor kitchen and games, the space offers more than enough to keep everyone in your party entertained and happy. (Plus, the lake's literally right there if you really must go paddleboarding.) All in all, our team agreed we'd book Camp Sandy again - no questions asked. If you're looking for a space that offers a little something for everyone and a big Austin vibe, then look no further!

Camp Sandy always exceeds expectations!
This is our third year to stay at Camp Sandy for a family reunion of 18-20. The property is lovely and the owner is always updating and improving the home and grounds. The outdoor entertainment venues are endless and the indoor space provides many opportunities to enjoy being inside under the ac! Probably the best thing about Camp Sandy is the owner, David. He is gracious and generous with those who stay there and manages this home with serious attention to detail. We have rented a dozen places over the years and nothing comes close to Camp Sandy. A lovely young woman, Rita, catered a Mediterranean meal for 18 of us this year and it was an amazing and delicious experience! We feel very blessed to be able to stay here as a family each year!
