Village & Access: Avèze is a charming village (850 m altitude) located on the border of Corrèze and Cantal. It is in the heart of the Sancy Massif, 20 minutes from the A89 motorway (exit 25) and the main sites of the Volcanoes Regional Nature Park. It is crossed by the Dordogne Gorges, which flow down from its native Sancy. Market on Wednesdays. A car is essential. 🧀 Gastronomy: Avèze is famous for its Bleu d'Avèze AOP Bleu Fermier, a creamy and slightly blue-veined cheese, a must-try on the Cheese Route. 🚶 Hiking: Trails start directly from the village (e.g., the Plantade Circuit) or the immediate surroundings (Saint-Sauves-d'Auvergne) to explore the Dordogne Gorges and views of the Sancy.
