Stunning, serene, rustic house in the woods near Spring Green, Wisconsin

Built in 1976, this Frank Lloyd Wright apprentice designed home is nestled in the rolling hills of the Wisconsin River valley on 30 acres of old hardwood forest and restored native prairie. Open floor plan living room, dining room and kitchen with soaring 18 foot ceilings, skylights and vintage wood stove. Sliding glass doors open to a 400 square foot deck suspended in the trees over looking the pond below. Recently remodeled kitchen and bathrooms. Kitchen with gas range, full size refrigerator, microwave, dish washer and stocked pantry. Outdoor gas grill. 2 bedrooms, each with a queen bed and full bath. spacious closets, linens and towels.
Half way between Spring Green and Dodgeville. Approximately 12 miles to American Players Theatre, downtown Spring Green and Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesin. 50 miles to Madison.

Relaxing getaway

The Driftless region is one of our favorites areas in WI. The cabin is beautifully decorated and located in a peaceful setting. We enjoyed relaxing and bird-watching on the large deck. Hope to be back soon!

A breath of fresh air

Loved my stay at the Dyer's in Avoca. The calm and tranquility was just what I needed. My dog and I were quite happy there and look forward to a return visit.

Another Peaceful Stay at Serene Woodland Oasis

We are so happy that we found this multi-generational, beautifully built and designed cabin, on Vrbo. It’s our second time here, and our little family enjoyed 3 recharging days of rest and relaxation. The birds and squirrels are really something to behold. Beds comfortable. So easy to check-in, check-out, and navigate the space in between. Internet is great and reliable. And there is more to do nearby than first meets the eye (hiking at state park, bars, etc.). We simply love it here, and will be back again and again. Thanks, Phyllis and family!

Perfect getaway!

I was looking for a place to stay near House On The Rock, and this property was perfect! Very clean and comfortable, while still rustic with lots of character. We'd definitely go back, especially to see the other seasons. As all the other reviews mention, it is so fun to watch the bird feeders!

A Little Bit of ShangriLa for those who love being away from it all...

This is our third stay at Phyllis's little slice of heaven. I will not reinvent the wheel by repeating words from our former visit reviews, but I will say that for anyone who loves staying in a well furnished (historical) home with super comfy beds and a well equipped kitchen -- while still being able to bring your four legged friend and still get away from it all -- this is your place.It is certainly our ShangriLa, and we love that Phyllis provides access to such a wonderful dog-friendly home to get away from it all!!

Beautiful! Just book it!

What a beautiful house in spectacular setting!We spent two nights there, and wish that our stay had been longer. The house is larger than expected, easily accommodating the four adults that stayed there. It provides great communal space, but also nicely appointed private space for each couple. The view out the floor to ceiling windows to the spacious deck was so relaxing, and as every review seems to mention, watching the wide variety of birds that visited the bird feeder on the deck was quite a treat!As for the bottom-line “must haves” that we look for in any VRBO, this house has all the bases covered…immaculately clean, comfortable beds, great Wi-Fi, spacious bathrooms and just about every kitchen and dining amenity you could ever want.If we’re ever back in the area, this will 100% be our rental again! Loved every minute of it!

Peaceful and scenic retreat!

We had a lovely time at Phyllis's lovely cabin! I surprised my husband with a weekend trip here for his birthday and he was thrilled when we pulled into this beautiful property! It is very quiet, and so private. It was so fun to watch the birds and squirrels out on the deck. Our dog loved laying by the windows to watch :) So close to governor dodge state park and Spring Green! Thank you Phyllis for a wonderful stay.

Fantastic cabin

It was a great holiday weekend! We were able to unplug, explore the area, and spend time cooking and playing board games in this charming and cozy cabin. Highly recommend, and will be back!

Comfortable retreat

We had a very relaxing early spring stay at this quiet, peaceful home. It was easy to slow down and just be, watching the birds at the bird feeder. The updated kitchen areas and bathrooms were very nice without making the rest of the house feel too new, and any time we thought we needed something, we were able to find it. Highlights were heading out fir area hikes in the afternoon and, on a cold day, lighting up the wood stove.
