The house is set on a 3 hectare property on a hillside over the Douro river. It is an organic farm with vineyards, fruit trees, backyard with vegetables and herbs and several garden areas. It also has a forest area overlooking the Douro river.

The farmhouse, completely fenced, is entirely for the exclusive use of renters during the holiday period.

Our guests can harvest organic vegetables, herbs and farm fruits. At Quinta da Vinha Nova we produce Portinha Green Wine.

The house was built by filmmaker Manoel de Oliveira. It was restored by the current owners, Guilhermina and Joaquim, and augmented with a modern architecture component.

It has 3 bedrooms, two bathrooms, large living room with dining and living area with fireplace, kitchen, and two terraces with stunning views of the Douro river. It has central heating. It has barbecue and several areas for outdoor dining. Has laundry in an annex to the house with bathroom

It has a private pool and games room with billiards, dice, darts and various table games. It has Ping Ping abroad.

The house is 1 hour and 20 minutes by train or by car from Porto and 30 minutes by car or train from the Douro Vinhateiro Zone, a World Heritage Site, where Port Wine is produced. In the city of Régua, 30 minutes away, you can go boating in the Douro.

It is also 1 hour from the city of Guimarães, also a World Heritage Site, a historic city where Portugal was born. 45 minutes away is also the beautiful city of Amarante and the city of Lamego.

Amazing stay

We had a fantastic stay at the property. The check-in was easy and our kids loved swimming in the pool. The adults would often find themselves sitting on the deck watching the evolution of the day with the changing colours of the valley and then the twinkling of lights.

Great escape!

This property was such a perfect relaxing escape for us. The grounds were beautiful with grapevines, vegetables, fruits, and stunning flowers we were able to enjoy this spring. Guillermina and her family made sure we had everything we needed and answered our questions quickly . She gave us great recommendations for shops and and restaurants. The views were breathtaking, their wine delicious and the pool was gorgeous. We feel so lucky to have spent April at Quinta da Portinha

Quinta da Vinha Nova

Stunning position and lovely to sample some of the garden produce and eggs, and the wine of course. The local railway was useful to visit up and down the Douro Valley as a break from driving along the steep and winding roads. Our flight to Porto arrived quite late. I would recommend stopping at a supermarket on the way for provisions.

Beautiful, well maintained

The look, directly from the heights of the river valley, down to the river or the valley mountains on the other side, was breathtaking. The house and it’s surrounding is well maintained and has everything you need for a comfortable stay ( incl. central heating etc) You definitely need a car, as it’s kind of remote. The weather begin of May was cold and rainy, but the house has a lot of space to make even that relaxing.

Douro Experience

We wanted a relaxing holiday with warm weather and beautiful views. This we got for sure! We didn’t want to do too much touring so a pool was a must. Quinta da Portinha ticked all the boxes and then some. Since this property is a vineyard an organic farm we had fresh eggs each day, oranges, lemons, blueberries, raspberries, beautiful lettuce and all sorts of herbs. Other things grow in the garden but, of course, they don’t all ripen at once. We wish to thank Guilhermina, Pedro, Daniela and her husband for their hospitality and kindness.

Wonderful house and property with a spectacular view

The house and property was even better than advertised and the host family was so easy to work with. The kitchen and living space had everything we needed and the beds were very comfortable. The view of the Duoro valley was spectacular and the outdoor living spaces perfect to enjoy the view andvrural life. The vineyards, vegetable garden, fruit grove, and hen house were an extra delight. While we didn't use the game rooms and beautiful pool because we were busy exploring the valley, they looked inviting and would be perfect for entertainment and relaxing. We can't offer enough positive comments on our stay at this property. It would be highly recommended for those visiting the Duouro Valley or wanting to stay a short distance outside of Porto.

Great place to stay in the Douro Valley

This was a beautiful house with gorgeous views, a refreshing pool (although a little cold at first, but no complaints), access to fresh veggies from the garden and eggs from the chicken coop. We loved our stay at Guilhermina’s house. We were greeted at the property by her son Pedro, who provided a complete tour of the house and property before Guilhermina joined us. He showed us where everything could be found, how to use the dish washer and washing machine, and where to find fresh vegetables and eggs. They even provided a bottle of their property wine and a local loaf of bread. We took them up on several of the restaurant and winery recommendations as well. I would definitely stay here again if we ever get a chance to return to the region, and would recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet place to stay in the valley.

Amazing rental, all around

If you are staying in the area, you must stay here. The family is so lovely, they met us to check in and to check out, to make sure we knew everything we needed about the property. Not only can you pick all the vegetables and fruits on the property, but you can fetch fresh eggs every day from the chicken coop. It was so fun for my city-kid 5 year old twin boys. The pool was great, as was the game room, my boys didn't ask about a screen once. It's in a great location to explore Douro Valley as well. This is a must-stay if you'll be in Douro Valley, I wish we would have spent more of our trip here.

Great Stay

Spacious property with the most amazing views over the Douro Valley. We enjoyed a relaxing week here after spending a few days in Porto. The villa has everything needed for a self catering holiday including a well kitted out games room & infinity pool.

Extraordinary property in a most beautiful setting

This gorgeous home on a working vineyard met all of our expectations. The view over the stunning vineyards down to the Douro Valley is magical. The home is large and comfortable and has all you need for a relaxing stay. The host was lovely and responsive. We will return for a longer stay!

Can’t beat the view!

Second time staying at this property. Owners are very accommodating. Everything we needed was on hand including picking oranges from the tree for fresh squeezed juice every day. Be sure to check out the notebooks for what to do and where to eat!

Amazing place!!

Can’t say enough about our peaceful experience at this home. It is incredibly well stocked—including wonderful veggies from the organic garden. The views are magnificent. Pool is great. I have never stayed anywhere that I enjoyed as much. Also had a bottle of their homemade wine from the organic vineyard on the property. It was also wonderful.
