We are deeply in love with the beauty and vibe of coastal Maine...its incredibly peaceful and so special. And then somehow this home, its decor, and its location still managed to blow us away. We are very picky and hard to please...but Carter just gets it. Everything in his home is cozy and luxurious yet also authentic and natural. We wanted a slow week with our two young children and this was the perfect vacation for that. We hiked, saw seals, combed the beach for shells, took photographs, ate our weight in lobster, shopped for souvenirs + artwork, took a boat tour, read books, and cooked. Bailey island is so unique and its hard to explain, just go. Carter's home truly accentuates the Maine lifestyle and you can tell he truly loves this place. The giant bathtub overlooking the sea was heaven, the fully stocked kitchen was delightful, his library of Maine-based literature was clever, and the multiple outdoor lounging/dining areas was picture-perfect. I have many recommendations as to what to do on Bailey Island, too many to fit here. But mainly do this: have breakfast at The Driftwood Inn, walk down to Land's End for fun shopping, hike the Devil's back trail to see seals (Orr's Island), take the noon boat ride from Cook's Lobster house, sit on the deck at Jaquish Lane with a glass of wine and just relax. It rarely gets better than this. Thank you Carter!
