"The lodge is beautiful in very peaceful area, it was very clean with everything we needed. We used it mainly for a base as we were traveling so only really slept there. The lodge is situated between 2 other properties and would benefit ( I’m my opinion) with blinds on all lower windows. The bed is very comfortable but a bit on the narrow side. "What a find this hotel was. Couldn’t have been happier. Hotel itself was beautiful, location, parking, lots of grassy areas around for our dogs, the staff were outstanding, the food in the restaurant was excellent. Lovely friendly atmosphere throughout. Loved it. Thank you Mark & your fabulous team"

"My mother and I simply chose the hotel due to price as we were visiting family in the area. Our expectations were not high due to low cost. We were very surprised. Yes you do have to manage expectation when staying here is sje is an old type hotel. Would we go again? Absolutely. Service, great, rooms and hotel spotless. Staff friendly, breakfast buffet style scottish breakfast with some continental. Looking fwd to our next visit."

"We had a wonderful stay at the Highlander Hotel. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the breakfast was very good. We chose the half-board option, which included a three-course dinner (starter, main course, and dessert), and the food was good—especially considering the location. We really enjoyed our stay and would like to thank everyone at the Highlander Hotel for their hospitality."

"We had a really lovely stay at this beautiful, cosy, and welcoming B&D. Diane (the host) was exceptionally friendly and helpful. We stayed during the Cairngorm fires, which were only 14 miles away from the accommodation, which was of course worrying, but Diane kept us informed of any changes in the state of things and provided reassurance and a comfortable stay the best that she could. The room was clean and spacious, and the breakfast delicious. Tomintoul is a beautiful little village and a perfect reflection of what the Scottish Highlands are all about. Would definitely stay again."

"The hotel is a bit dated but you can see the improvements that’s being made, spoke to the staff who were lovely and helpful said it’s a work in progress. The restaurant is lovely the food is reasonably priced and the portions are generous and also tasty. There are some amazing walks and also a station where you can go on to a steam train which is fun, also the lochs"
