About this property

Mountainside Cottage, Dingle Wild Atlantic Way , Ireland

  • Mountainside Cottage is a 100-year-old traditional Irish cottage, sensitively renovated to make the most of its spectacular setting on a hillside facing Mount Brandon. It's our family home, which we rent out from time to time, so it feels like a true home from home. Peaceful and inspiring, it suits a small family or anyone who wants to get away from it all.

The cottage: Downstairs, the open-plan living room has a wood-burning stove with a back boiler and wide-beam oak floors. A modern country-style kitchen, dining room and conservatory are all surrounded by large windows, and the oven is fully equipped for baking or a Sunday roast. For longer stays, there is high-speed broadband and a work desk, perfect for working from home. The shower room has a pebble floor.
Upstairs are two bedrooms. In the tradition of cottage rooms, they are small but very cosy. The center bedroom has magnificent views of Mount Brandon from the king-size bed. The second bedroom has a double bed with 2 windows overlooking the garden and the hillside, and a Ring Fort. You will fall asleep to the sound of the sheep!
The main bathroom has a bath and an electric shower.

Outside: The mature garden has stone walls, native trees and flowers, and a patio for long evenings. The cottage sits on a quiet laneway used mainly by locals, sheep farmers, hill walkers and riders from the nearby equestrian centre.

    Location:
7 minutes by car to Dingle town, known for its restaurants, pubs and live Irish music
5 minutes to the beautiful beaches at Muiríoch and Ballydavid
Several good pubs serving food nearby
Mountain, cliff and beach walks on your doorstep, plus historic sites close by.
Incredible sea safaris from Dingle, Ventry and Dun Chaoin Piers, visiting the surrounds of the spectacular Blasket Islands, with some also landing on the historic Great Blasket Island. Dolphins, seals and sea birds can be seen all year round, whilst a variety of whales and basking sharks can also be seen.
Stargazing - The Dingle Peninsula lies just north of the Kerry International Dark Sky Reserve, one of the few Gold Tier reserves in the world. With very little light pollution, a clear night shows planets, passing satellites and the Milky Way with the naked eye.

Mountainside Cottage is an ideal base for enjoying the magnificent Dingle Peninsula from the comfort of a family home.
