This place was fantastic. Perfect size for our group of 8 (two grandparents, two parents, four kids aged 5, 9, 12, and 16) to stay for three days on our ski trip.
The description was very accurate. Our favorites were the hot tub, game room and Ms PAC man game. Had a blast!

Nice location - space fit our family dynamics perfectly
While I booked on the wrong ski mountain (we spent our entire time on Beech and not Sugar), the house itself had good space and plenty for us to do away from the slopes. There were a few maintenance issues but the local
Staff was very responsive. With lots of use and at the end of a busy ski season, minor issues weren’t unexpected.
The hot tub was great for sore muscles after skiing. We have all become pool sharks from family tournaments every evening!
We enjoyed our time together and this home helped us do that.

Lots of stairs, but comfortable overall
Sugar High was a decent place for a weekend visit. It was clean, the beds were comfortable, and the house was well stocked for cooking, if needed. It rained, so we didn't spend much time on the outside decks. Fair warning that there were a lot of stairs to get from the parking area to the house. This made unpacking and packing a little rough. Our aging dog with bad hips didn't love the stairs either, and there was no place to walk her except to go up the stairs on onto the road, which thankfully, was very quiet. End of the summer did not provide any mountain views, with less leaves, the view might be better. It was about a 20-25 minute drive to Boone.

Disappointing
We were really excited to stay at this house and when we first arrived, it looked clean and nice. However, once we settled in, we realized that several of the amenities (dishwasher, upstairs fireplace) weren't in working order. While the sheets were clean, the quilts had not been washed in quite some time and were really musty. The house in general was somewhat dated and musty, and several family members went home sick. Also, the trash from previous guests hadn't been taken away so we couldn't take ours out and had to keep it in the house, which wasn't ideal. There were just a lot of small things that added up to our leaving a day early, even though it meant cutting our time together short. We weren't able to speak directly with the property manager to discuss our issues, which was very disappointing, but the staff was courteous and responsive.
The views from the decks and windows is beautiful! The hot tub was enjoyed, and the kids love the loft! And the flooring was great for the pups! Even though we didn't get the snow forecasted, we had a great time.
We enjoyed all the fun things to do, especially the hot tub. BUT, there were no beach towels. We asked for them and vacasa said they would have them delivered, bit they never came. /:

Nice location near ski slopes
Nice location within walking distance to the slopes. Town was horribly crowded which was stressful. House had nice view and was spacious enough for our larger group. Heat worked well. We had issues with some things though. Coffee maker was messed up, a piece of furniture broke while in use, there were spiders in the loft. Hot tub was dirty. We would come back at a not peak season time if those issues were addressed.

Wonderful home - Terrible Guest Services
Let me start with please, someone make sure that the garbage has been removed from the bear safe bins at the house before anyone else stays here. The garbage has not been collected since before the 1st of the year; I've gathered this via the reviews and the fact that it was more than overflowing. To put this into context, we stayed the last full week in February. That is completely unacceptable and Vacasa, the guest services, should be ashamed.
Secondly, the upstairs fire place will not work & Vacasa will not send anyone out to fix or inspect. We called 3x and were told they would send someone. They did not. I also noticed that other guests had left reviews indicating the fire place needed to be fixed months ago. Again, this should be handled and corrected by Vacasa, the guest services, as their clearly aware there's an issue.
The house itself is wonderful and spacious. We have no complaints with the home. Vacasa, on the other hand, needs improvement in all categories. If you read the reviews you'll notice my sentiments are shared.
Happy the driveway was not too crazy! The pool table was fun as well. The loft was very cool! We sadly were not able to turn the fireplaces on, but that's ok.

Really nice house
The house had amazing dinnerware, and the hot tub was fantastic. Not much of a view and we stayed on a weekend in the mid-80s and the mini-split ac system was overwhelmed so the upstairs bedroom was very hot. Still, we enjoyed ourselves!
Great location, the layout of the house is perfect for pets and for young adults and the “older ” adults. The younger ones are downstairs in that living area playing pool while we were upstairs doing our thing. The hot tub was perfect. The only thing was a bummer was the bed swing didn’t have a mattress on it and the game machine wasn’t there. But it was perfect otherwise. I can’t wait to stay again.

Great Family Get Away
We had the best time here. My kids loved the bunk beds. Parents stayed on the top floor and kids on the bottom. Easy access to lovely Banner Elk, Boone, and Grandfather Mountain. Lots of good local restaurants nearby. The fireplaces and hot tub are lovely added bonus.

Good for the basics , lacking for the premium price
The property and home were a good basic skiing cabin. Super close to hills , hot tub was fun, and the old but highly functional heat lamps in bathroom were a pleasant surprise. That said, when we booked it was going for a premium price and I would not place it in that category of home. The home is dated, the video games , dart board and all board games were inoperable , broken and missing pieces . the loft bedroom was cool for little kids but all kids complained that it hadnt been vacuumed ever. The grill caught fire due to having never been cleaned . Top bunk beds weren’t made , sheets were wet in dryer when we arrived , and dryer did not work well. Parking was limited, on mountain street (no driveway) and the stairs down to property were pretty intense for unpacking and carrying equipment. Photos don’t show this.
It is a decent property for a basic ski cabin, however it is not worth premium rate levels .

Close to skiing and lots of room
This place was wonderful for our large family to stay at for our Sugar Mountain ski trip. Loads of windows, well stocked, and fun recreation for down time off the slopes.
