Welcome to Top Of The Hill!

A delightful home with 2BR/2BA located atop Seven Devils, Top of the Hill boasts high-elevation, year-round, long-range views. This central location in the High Country is only one mile from Hawks Nest Snow Tubing and Zip Lines Resort, Otter Falls and Otter Falls Trail (.6 mile hike to the Falls- round trip 1.2 miles), Seven Devils Town Park with a playground, tennis courts, picnic area, and more. Blowing Rock and Boone are both within 11 miles, and the town of Banner Elk is only 8 miles away. The village of Valle Crucis, with its riverfront park, and the original historic Mast General Store, is less than 10 miles away. When not exploring the mountains, guests can take advantage of the many comforts at Top of the Hill, including a gas grill and Traeger Pellet Grill on the patio, a hot tub, and a wood-burning Solo Stove, or the simple bright comfort of the home.

Step in the front door from the patio and experience an aesthetically pleasing living room with lots of seating, pillows, a flat-screen tv, and a gas log fireplace. The kitchen is big and open for creating meals, and the dining area seats six. The entire space is surrounded by windows open to the mountain view. The outdoor patio will be a favorite place with cushioned wicker seating, a gas grill and a Traeger Pellet Grill, and the wood-burning Solo Stove near the hot tub, situated with Grandfather Mountain in the distance.

The king master suite has a tv and a private ensuite bathroom with a step-in shower, make-up vanity space, and a washer and dryer. Across the hall, the queen bedroom also has a mounted flat-screen tv and natural decor. Two additional guests can be accommodated using the queen-size sofa bed in the living room. Find yourself taking in the scenery from one of the quiet deck nooks with morning coffee or tea.

Additional amenities include central heating and air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and TVs with Netflix streaming. There are tennis rackets for use at the public courts and a pickleball set. The home has Bluetooth speakers and a Bluetooth record player with records. Entertainment opportunities are generous, with board games for young and old, books, puzzles, and a Sony Playstation. There is a high chair and Pack n' Play for families with young children.

Located at a high elevation on Seven Devils, the road up is paved, with curves and inclines, 4WD or AWD is required for winter travel. The driveway is gravel and levels out to a parking pad above the house with wide stone steps leading down to the covered patio entrance. No pets are allowed at this cabin.

Top Of The Hill provides a delightful setting with simple elegance throughout for a wonderful getaway to the High Country.

clean, cozy cabin

Had an amazing time at the cabin. The last night it snowed so the kids had a blast playing in the snow. Very spacious and cozy with all the essentials to have great family time and create memories.

Family Getaway

The house was beautiful and clean. We loved using the jacuzzi during the cool summer nights. Hawksnest ski slopes were closed because it was summer, but we could see the slopes from the house. We would definitely stay here again.

Great views!

One of the beds a little smaller than expected (was a double), and we encountered some dirty dishes. But overall, it was a super location, super views, and super relaxing. Nothing like being in a hot tub and having your hair freeze! So nice!

Unpleasant Surprise

We arrived to hear this unusual sound coming from under the property. Also, to find mold stops in various places throughout the property. So, we ended up only staying 1 night and was relocated to a different property. We actually had to down grade in the place we stayed at. If it was not for these issues, I believe we would have enjoyed our week stay.

Unfortunate Experience

We've stayed in dozens of rentals over the years, and this is the first negative review we've given. The road up to the property was dangerous and not adequately described at all ("inclines and curves" is not sufficient). The road was very steep with numerous switchbacks and only wide enough for one vehicle in some places. It is not safe if there is bad weather even with an AWD vehicle. We have 30 years of experience driving at ski resorts all over the country and this is the worst road for winter we have seen. When there was a forecast for snow we had to leave after one night, cutting our 3-night stay short. It would have been nice if they would have worked with us to reduce the price even a little based on the circumstances. We'd highly recommend any renters to not visit during the winter unless they drive a monster truck with full out snow chains and maybe a winch, if needed. The property description should greatly be updated to not put unsuspecting renters into a bind of having to cancel a trip and losing a lot of money. We understand weather happens and given our AWD vehicle and winter driving experience, felt like we'd be fine, but that was not the case due to the false property description. We would not recommend this property during winter months or honestly, in general, due to the negative experience and response we received in dealing with the property manager.

Mountain Oasis

The property is absolutely clean and stylish. It is exactly the same as shown in the pictures. I definitely recommend, as I feel so lucky to have found this little mountain treasure in the beautiful town of Seven Devils, NC.
