The building had a major renovation back in the early 1990s to my understanding and from my perspective nothing has been done since. I’m sure they’ve made minor repairs but everything seemed worn out and tired. It just didn’t feel clean. In addition the host owner was very rude and condescending. They have been doing this since 2003 they said which is impressive but you could tell, in my opinion, that they were long done with it. If you want friendly upbeat and kind I would not come here. I love Bar Harbor and Acadia and I have visited many times. This time I didn’t make a reservation in time and the result was a disappointing experience with the hotel but, not with visiting the park and city. The weather was beautiful and made up for the hotel experience
SO many places to stay in Bar Harbor and should have booked elsewhere. The value for the cost was extremely disappointing. Old towels, not very clean, hard mattress, satellite TV didn't work. EVERY wine glass on the tray in the common sitting area was filthy dirty. Much upkeep/maintenance is needed at this historical manor. The only positive was the breakfast and the location.
Old Gilded age inn beautiful but showing its age Bed was uncomfortable and squeaky. Bathrooms are very narrow. Lots of steps even in rooms. Needs some updating but there were other nice options such as hime cooked breakfast as well as the innkeepers hospitalityand resident dog CoCo is so sweet there are Always homemade cookies, coffee and tea available all day. Try their freshly baked bread and or muffin
of the day at breakfast.
Love the experience of staying in a manor. Breakfast was excellent. The common areas were charming. Always had cookies, water coffee and tea. Recommend it. Give it a 10
This is an amazing place to stay in Bar Harbor. Very friendly staff, generous breakfast, lovely room with a beautiful view.
It takes about 20 minutes to walk to the village green in Bar Harbor to catch a Bus to Acadia National Park.
The owner is awesome, she is the soul of the house.
This is by far the best Inn I have ever stayed. The place is beautiful and close to all attractions. They have wonderful breakfast and cookies and coffee of tea for afternoon. The owners are super friendly and very helpful. They are a true Inn. I highly recommend. Only suggestion is to bring your own pillow if you prefer soft pillows.

Pat, It was wonderful to meet you. I am pleased you enjoyed your stay and Acadia National Park. Yes, our chef makes a wonderful breakfast. They all my wife's recipes. (YUM) If you would like the recipes, please email us and we would be pleased to send them to you as a word file.
Lovely staff. Quiet. Comfortable beds and good hot showers. Furnishings are very dated and “Victorian” but that is expected as it is a Victorian bed and breakfast.
A large, comfortable inn that feels more like the home it was almost 100 years ago. Great innkeepers who were always available to help with advice and directions. Terrific home cooked breakfasts each day of our stay… that alone has us thinking about our return visit. The inn is located a short walking trip from downtown Bar Harbor in one direction and a short drive from the main visitor center for Acadia at Hull’s Cove.
It was a great trip. It's a historic trip back in time.....you feel like you're walking into a set of Downtown Abby. The owners are very friendly and make you feel welcome as soon as you arrive. The breakfast served there is the quality of a 5* restaurant. The grounds are well kept and there is plenty seating and lounging on site in some of the most beautiful rooms for common gathering. There is always coffee and tea on hand (as well as free snacks). I can't say enough about how much my wife and I enjoyed our stay.
Absolutely wonderful stay, great breakfast, very clean. Friendly and helpful staff. Anne and Bob are terrific. Very convenient location.
A+++ all around.
Property was worn out and needed updating. Disappointed the chairs on balcony were rusted and broken. Balcony banisters were loose and dangerous. There was heavy use of air deodorizer throughout property which triggers migraines for me. I would not recommend this property to others.
Our first experience with a bed and breakfast was a great one. Ann couldn't have been a better host. Room was quaint and comfortable, bathroom modern. Parking plentiful and convenient. Breakfast was very good with a nice selection. Wifi television was a little slow. But we werent there for tv.
Ann was wonderful..friendly, informative, and a great chef. Our room, "Charles How," is beautifully decorated, clean, and spacious, as is the adjoining bathroom. We did hear a lot of doors closing hard, and people walking above us. The gourmet breakfasts are a real treat.
Excellent hospitality and remarkable attention to details in creating the atmosphere of a historic inn. Great location. WiFi was weak but breakfast was top grade. Will definitely go back.
The breakfasts were all amazing, however, the blueberry sauce for the blueberry pancakes should be served on the side, so people have the option to put on what they want on their pancakes. I was scraping it off my pancakes. It was way too sweet.
Our room could have benefited from additional lighting. There were two small lamps on the side stands, which didn’t provide enough light to read or really do anything.
Ann always provided freshly baked snacks, which was great. She’s a wonderful host!

Decent but others better for $$
Decent B&B - didn’t find the inn owners particularly friendly or inviting. Wasn’t greeted the way I am at other properties with a smile and conversation, but the room was nice - for the future you might want to advertise the Clark room is on the 3rd floor and the last set of steps are steep (we didn’t mind but I could see others having a challenge.)
Breakfast was good, not great; standard offering of an egg dish or a flour based dish.
Being pushed to place bfast orders the morning prior was a bit unnecessary- some like to place an order at the time of dining. Went to Primrose Inn for a couple nights following and just found a higher level of service, cleanliness and friendliness.
Extremely clean and comfortable. Wonderful location. Very charming property. The breakfasts are to die for and the innkeeper is fantastic! Would stay there again.
Beautiful inn near city of Bar Harbor and entrance to Acadia. The inn is well furnished in the Victorian Style. Our room was spacious, plenty of closets and cabinets. The bathroom was up to date. We had a wonderful breakfast daily. The innkeeper and owner Anne was great. She was always available for information on the area, restaurant recommendations, and just a great person to discuss things with. I would highly recommend this inn for your vacation in Bar Harbor. We enjoyed everything about our stay here! It was very conveniently located less than 5 min from downtown Bar Harbor, minutes away from Acadia NP. The rooms were clean, breakfast was great. Strict sanitizing and safety precautions for traveling during the COVID-19 pandemic were in place easing any of our worries. Would definitely look to stay here again when back in Bar Harbor.
Overall nice bed and breakfast. Breakfasts were excellent. Bathroom was small but no other problems. It’s nice that they have fireplaces and offer free fire logs that last for hours. Anne was a great host.
We enjoyed out time here. The staff is very friendly and the location can't be beat! Close to downtown Bar Harbor and super close the Acadia Park entrances. Breakfast was always great!
