Little House in the Big Woods on the Prairie

This little cabin in the woods over looking a prairie is a great space for travelers that like to be cozy and secluded.

Just 5 minutes from the city of Baraboo and 7 minutes from the Devil's Lake State Park entrance. It features modern comfort for solo travelers or couples.

Guest access

A private driveway will lead you to the cottage, which is surrounded by woods and prairie. There are 30 acres of woods and prairie with established walking trails that you can hike or stroll through. Very private and enchanting! There is a parking spot provided for you about 300 feet from cabin. If you arrive late at night, it can be very dark. We suggest using a flashlight or your phone to navigate the path safely. Easy self-check-in system with door code. Bring firewood if you plan on having a fire in the fire pit.

Other things to note

We are so close to many amazing activities in Baraboo and the surrounding area. I have provided a list of some of my recommendations.

To lock the front door when leaving, close the door securely and press the padlock symbol on the keypad. You should hear the door locking.

Absolutely loved the stay! My partner and I loved the remote feel, the quiet nights but also how close it was so attractions like Devils Lake State Park and downtown Baraboo. The vrbo was super clean and very cozy feeling with perfectly working heating and water. Kitchen was stocked and everything worked perfect! Thank you to our gracious hosts, we truly enjoyed our stay and would love to come again!

We had an amazing time at the Little House! It was so cute and had fantastic views of the prairie from the deck. We enjoyed walking all the trails along the property and loved the convenience to hiking at Devils Lake and the restaurants in Baraboo! It’s a great place to relax and just enjoy nature and even though it’s a tiny home it had everything we needed! Plus a thoughtful basket of snacks and coffee was provided. Could not have asked for a better stay! We will be back and would highly recommend to others!

Great Spot

A Wonderful Oasis

A lovely little cabin nestled in a scenic spot. We loved the short hike in, thoughtful amenities and relaxing vibes. Didn’t get a chance to wander the trails, but loved the close proximity to Devil’s Lake, Parfray’s Glen, downtown Baraboo and the Dells.

The perfect place!

This cabin was absolutely wonderful home base for our for our girls weekend to Devils Lake area. We loved coming back to such a quiet, tucked away place that was still close enough to all of our adventures. The cabin itself was beautiful inside and perfect for preparing light meals and enjoying the beautiful prairie views (and mowed walking trails) or an evening bonfire. 5 stars all around and can’t wait to stay again!

Enjoyable, isolated stay!

Enjoyed our time here! Recommend arriving before sunset to allow for easier navigation as surrounding streets are not well lit. Host was very warm and welcoming and came out to greet us. The spot itself was nice, cozy, and clean. Appreciated that appliances and decor were high quality and did not skimp at all on quality.

Peaceful Getaway

My stay was wonderful! I love the tiny house and the property -- so lovely to watch the sunset over the prairie and explore the trails on the property! The tiny house is so cozy and has every amenity. I loved the bedroom and the bed was super comfy. John was a great host. I highly recommend staying here and plan to be back again myself!

Quiet getaway

Me and my husband loved this place on the prairie. It was very serene. We walked the trails in the forest in the back of the house. Very clean and stocked with everything you need. Close to so much hiking and restaurants. A very beautiful piece of property

The property was just as described. We had a very restful and restorative stay. Unfortunately we were not able to walk any of the trails onsite due to a very rainy day, but enjoyed a campfire our first evening. Lovely little house and I hope we can visit again!

Peaceful Retreat

Loved this quiet little cabin in the woods. The cabin was clean and nicely done. It was layed out nicely for the small space. The many windows offered wonderful views of the meadow and woods. The porch was enjoyable, it was so nice listening to the birds and just appreciating the serenty. Would stay here again!

Small cabin with everything you need!

Perfect place for us to stay for a vacation near Devils Lake. While very small, they had everything we needed— they had all at home basics besides an oven (they also didn’t have wifi working when we were there but usually do, we did get a small amount of data signal though). They had extra things we got to use too like a grill, campfire, firestarting sticks, and snacks :) Would definitely come again!

Perfect Little Getaway

Rejuvenating Tiny Home

I cannot recommend this tiny home enough! It was so perfect - stocked with everything you might need, very clean, and in the most serene spot. To hear the sounds of nature all around and to see the most beautiful view when you walk out the door or open the blinds was such a grounding experience for us. We hope to be back soon!

Needed getaway

My husband & I needed a quiet, relaxing reprieve. One of our Shih Tzus had to be put down & we were grieving heavily. Our little getaway in the cabin in the woods was healing. The cabin is spotless, fully stocked & welcoming. We’d love to return June.

The property is gorgeous. Very remote, but accessible. The home is settled between a beautiful prairie and woods. Even more impressive than described on VRBO site. The house is clean and welcoming. Not large, but perfect size for a couple. Everything you need is there. Will book again!

Prairie Getaway

The cabin was pristine and situated on a beautiful prairie, making it perfect for couples or solo travelers looking for a getaway. The cabin is small, but well appointed, efficiently laid out with a good design. Close driving distance to Devil’s Lake State Park and Baraboo. The parking spot is a small walk away from the cabin, but that means the cabin feels more “in nature” and a push cart is provided to move your luggage from your car to the cabin.

Perfect respite!

We absolutely love this VRBO and this was our 3rd time staying here :) its always clean, always well stocked, and the owners are incredibly nice and helpful. We love the camping feel with the luxury of a kitchen, bathroom, and cozy living space. This truly is the most restful and refreshing spot in the woods and the prairie view is incredible. We also love the walking trails both in the woods and the prairie! The added touches like snacks, card games, and books make it so easy to stay on site and the close proximity to devils lake is an added bonus. We cant wait to come again! Thank you for 3 incredible stays :)
