Top Baranof Castle State Historical Site Hotel Reviews
Sitka Hotel and Restaurant
6/10 Okay
"This hotel is adequate but very dated. Our shower was out of shampoo, another room out of body wash. We had to keep requesting the staff refill the coffee in the lobby. We were only there for one night so our interaction with staff was very limited. Perhaps when they see people more they are more accommodating? I wouldn’t say don’t stay there, but I will say only expect the necessities."
"Fantastic stay! Would highly recommend this hotel. Laundry room and gym available to guests. Very easy to use. In the morning, the hotel puts out a nice coffee and tea service, but it's also across the street from a fantastic coffee shop, if you're looking for more options and a full breakfast. Very conviently located, and the staff is super awesome."

We were very happy to have a place that we could hang out together and have the privacy of our own rooms. It was nice to be able to relax."
"Overpriced for what you get. The unit itself was in a run down building , and the owner did accommodate an early check-in, which we appreciated. But several issues made the stay frustrating. Honestly, I’m not sure how this place has such great reviews unless people’s standards are very low. There was visible dust under the sofa, no trash liners in the bins, and noise from the retail shops below carried into the unit more than expected. The unit itself is quite old, and the temperature control was inconsistent. The front bedroom became uncomfortably hot while the back bedroom stayed freezing cold throughout our stay. The building overall also felt run down and not particularly well maintained. The biggest issue was building access. The elevator is key-operated, but there was absolutely no indication of that until after searching the den and eventually finding the welcome book sitting on the counter. By then, we had already carried our luggage up two flights of stairs. The instructions for using the elevator were buried in the welcome book, which was frustrating to deal with after traveling.Checkout was also unpleasant. We were delayed by a few minutes because of heavy rain, and the cleaning agent was unnecessarily rude about it instead of showing basic understanding. The cleaning crew was interfering with checkout to the point that we were unable to properly take out the trash. In the confusion, we accidentally left a bag behind and had to involve the police."
"The hotel may have rebranded to the Southeast Resort, but it is an old hotel. The refrigerator shell was broken. The room just looked tired. The elevator was extremely slow. The bathtub wasn't really clean and there was someone else's long hair clinging to the shower curtain, yuck. On the positive side the bed was quite comfortable, and the hotel location is right by downtown and close to tourist areas."
