First of all, the hostel rooms does not look like on the pictures! The bed is comfortable but the room is tiny with only a small drawer to your stuff. I understand it is low price but these conditions just unacceptable even for 10 quid a night. There was no hot water in the downstairs bathroom, so the first night I had a very unpleasant quick cold shower. If it was the middle of summer I probably wouldn't have minded that much, but it's mid november already with showers outside. Receptionist said the pluming isn't the best so for hot shower is better to go upstairs. I swear even in the worst colleges bathroom conditions are better than here. The last morning just before I left I even saw a cockroach crawling through the shower floor. I didn't have breakfast at the place, however the kitchen and living room area actually nice with all those bean bags. Also good point that it is quite in the center so most of the attractions are close by. However I would never go back to that place and I wouldn't recommend to anyone at all.

Thanks Noemi, Yes, our beds are very comfortable, and if you find a room small, there are other options, maybe you needed a room with less roommates. The hotwater had isolated problems which are solved! We clean every day with products, it is very rare what you found, please ask reception when you have any request! Our lobby is great to meet other guests and be confortable, also our locations is very very good, it makes you save time and money! If you have any other thing to add, please email reception, they will forward me your email We hope you come back so we can show you we have improved! Thanks

Amazing value, a few minor issues
Unbeatable value for the location, walls a bit thin between rooms so we could hear interesting sounds from next door! Also, refilling toilet paper dispensers not efficiently managed by staff.

The location was great. Gràcia is a nice area and convienent to the center, Sagrada Família and the gothic area. Many restaurants and stores to walk to The hostel is a little old and funky. Plumbing, door knobs etc need work. A little noisy also

We are making some remodelations / improvements in the hostel, the bathrooms. Also, we have a silence hours rule, if someone is not respecting it please ask reception! Dormitory rooms are very small. Cold air is coming due to ventilation at night. No hot water in showers on the ground floor. Place is quite uncomfortable.

Expect to not have any hot water longer than 1 minute, squeaky beds when you have people moving around all night, rude cleaning staff who wake up customers and tell them to get out when they have more than one night booked. Ridiculous and will never come back!

Rude maid
Very rude. Had a reservation for two nights and still get woken up by the maid telling me I need to get up and get out. I tell her I have another night booked, doesn’t understand English, gets mad at me and shakes her head, goes to the front desk and the front desk person comes to wake me up. Once again I have to explain that I have another night booked and that I don’t have to move according to the person at check in. Don’t give attitude when your waking up a paying guests After paying to stay consecutive nights. Willl not come back nor will ever recommend. Sorry Not sorry

Great hostel, needs some elbow grease
This was my second stay here, the first being when the hostel first opened a couple years ago. I came back because the first experience was so positive. Most of the elements that lead me to repeat my stay at Gracia City Hostel were there the scond time around: great staff, a friendly environment, perfect location, and a great bang for your buck. However, the place really could do with a thorough scrubbing. The biggest problem is mold around the air ducts in the dorm as well as all over the celing in the showers. I'm sure management will get that taken care of and, as soon as the hostel has had a deep cleaning, I wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

Great hostel!
Cozy hostel located right off the main street. Just far enough away that we weren't kept up by the hustle and bustle of the city. Rooms were clean and hostel staff was super helpful (they even took care of getting us a taxi to the airport when we left!) The bathrooms are older and are set up more like gym bathrooms, and have wear and tear. But they were clean and both the hot and cold water worked with no issues. The beds were very comfortable. Staff enforced the "don't be loud after 11pm" rule, which was very, very appreciated. NOTE FOR PEOPLE GOING IN THE SUMMER: there is air conditioning but you have to ask them to turn it on for your room specifically.

Good hotel - very basic but in a good location in Gracia and staff were really nice. They need to be really careful because they mopped the steps and didn't have a sign and my friend slipped over and really hurt herself!

Center of Garcia, great location.
Easy to walk to downtown or Metro goes everywhere in the City. Great Staff but Cold water was hard to get used to , so was the mops in the bathroom to clean up the spilled water. Great kitchen & seating area Downstairs

We were staying only to catch a flight, it would have been better to stay somewhere near the airport, as taxi costs €42 each way.

Cheap and cheerful!
Stayed at this hostel for a Barcelona match. It was in an amazing location, it was within walking distance of the main shops in the city centre, as well as being close to metros so that I could travel to Camp Nou. Overall the hotel was in a good, clean condition. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful with anything I needed. The only thing I would change about my stay is that I would bring an eye mask for night time, as even though the main light is switched off, the personal lights are extremely bright.

Well-located hostel at a great price
The wifi was awful and kept cutting in and out and I could not maintain a steady connection for more than 15 minutes. Other than that, the staff were friendly and the bed was comfortable. You can't expect too much from hostel-living, especially when you're sharing a room with 7 other people who all have different schedules and sleeping patterns!

This was a crammed, small hostel with too few facilities. The showers were pretty dirty, there was never toilet paper. There's too many people and too few facilities which means a lot of waiting around. It's a bit far from metro's and buses, but that is because of it's cosy place in Gracia, so it depends on what you're into. Also, the front desk is supposed to be manned at all hours but I came home at night and the key-card to get in the front door had stopped working and I had to stand outside for 30 minutes until a guest could let me in. The next day when I told the staff he didn't care at all and simply ignored my complaint and checked me out. I've stayed at a lot of wonderful hostels in Barcelona that are cheaper and better than this one, wouldn't recommend it at all.

Group bonding for a solo traveler
Gracia City was the most welcoming hostel I stayed at on my trip to Barcelona! The multi lingual staff at the hostel were approachable and welcoming, they made traveling alone feel warm. There is no short of activities to meet other travelers at Gracia City either! Everyday they have a walking tour, breakfast, and dinner. On the weekends they organize club outings, I don't think I would've had the full Barcelona experience with out these outings! I truly had an amazing time here and met so many new friends from around the world! The hostel itself is spacious. The whole basement is great communal place to use wifi and mingle and meet people. There's a large kitchen down there and plenty of couches, bean bags, sofas, music, and books; perfect place to unwind after a long day. Can't wait to come back to Gracia City, a home away from home!

Great neighborhood!
The Gracia is a real neighborhood - not at all touristy. But with great access by bus, train or easily by foot to anything you would want to see or do in the city. The staff was exceptionally nice & helpful, as were other visitors.

Obviously I didn't expect much because I wasn't paying much but when I got there the front desk guy yelled at my and said I didn't have a reservation when I did and already paid and he was about to put me on the streets when there were definelty beds available. Second my sheets had blood on them when I got there... Not cool. Actually extremely gross! Lastly there was only one toilet for the whole floor.

Yes, we remember the incident with your reservation and again, we apologise for the mistake. When we received your reservation the night staff do not manage the reservation systems and that is why your booking did not show up on the system. We are very sorry for the inconvenience caused, but the intention of our colleague was not to offend you, or shout at you. Because of the late check in, you were unable to receive a tour of the hostel, showing you all five bathrooms , as well you know we mention if any case of arrive late, is better let us know. Again, we are deeply sorry for the incident and are trying our best to give our guests the best experience possible.

Very close to the best places in Barcelona
All area is walkable, next to a bicicle rental place so you can use bicicle all the time. Also bars and restaurants. Definitely the lication is the stronguest characteristic of this hostel.

Guys noisy and messy. Added noise by , mostly, guests and staff loud conversation just outside the hotel (alley) made it very difficult to sleep.

know what you are committing to before you book
the hostel had great reviews so I decided to stay but there are some cons. Pros: good location, close to diagonal, very clean. Cons: the shower has a really weird system. You have to keep pushing the handle to get water and the handle also has the temperature control, so temperature changes as you push and you do it every 30 sec or so. And the light turns off as frequent as the shower, so we have to get out of shower and wave hands to get the light on again, so in the end you waste more time and water in the shower. One of the staff (an older guy) was very mean but the younger staff were friendly

Unless you're a frat type or sorority tween seeking frat guys, stay away. I had to leave after first night (of 7) and hostel has yet to refund the nights not used -- inspite of the fact that I booked another hotel through same booking site. Not for mature adults and definitely not families!

Great cosy city hostel
I stayed there last week, and for me this was a truly great experience. I guess the place was renovated a short while ago, the whole structure is very modern and bright, the bed was comfy and the mattress pretty new. Location was very convenient: nearby we had supermarkets, banks, bars, Spanish restaurants, but also the hostel was in the center of big attractions such as La Sagrada Familia, Parc Guell etc). Didn't even need to use metro, that was very close as well. The hostel organizes daily activities, which I think is very nice 'cause it makes super easy to meet other travellers and spend good time with them. Last but not least, the staff: they really, really friendly and helpful. I will definitely go back there when I'm back in Barcelona.

Самый экономный вариант в Барселоне.
Хостел в старом отремонтированном здании в районе Грасия. Ориентирован на минимальный, хотя для непритязательных путешественников и вполне удовлетворительный комфорт. В России за те же деньги вам предложат куда лучшие условия, но в Барселоне желающим сэкономить, видимо, приходится удовлетворяться этим. Помещения маленькие, как жилые, так и умывальные. Кухня и комната отдыха понравились значительно больше. Есть большой телевизор, места для отдыха и игр детей, на кухне достаточно посуды, плита, чайник, микроволновка, холодильник. Из плюсов: приветливый персонал, хороший завтрак всего за 4 евро, расположение вблизи достопримечательностей (дом Мила, Саграда Фамилия) и в то же время на тихой улице.
