A good price budget hotel in a perfect location in the Gothic Quarter, truly the heart of Barcelona. Simple, clean and basic ensuite rooms. Surrounded by a maze of alleys containing shops, bars and places to eat. Only negative was noise, some very noisy 5am shouting inside the hotel, although vast majority of people I ever saw were more grown up.

I stayed at this hotel on a solo trip. After reading many reviews, I wasn't sure what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised! The room was basic, but it had everything I needed (incl toiletries) and more was available upon request. My room also included a safe, which wasn't mentioned anywhere. They offer free wifi with decent speeds as well as a Continental breakfast buffet. The breakfast was really good in my opinion! All the staff were friendly and welcoming and you can tell they all work really hard. Some of the things that might put other people off is that not all the rooms have "views". My room looked out over a little courtyard, but I spent hardly any time in the room apart from sleeping! It was comfortable in every sense. The shower is powerful and not as piddly as some other hotels I've stayed in. The Gothic Quarter is a hive of activity and I found the activity to start from as early as 8am in the mornings. There was some noise from the street with deliveries being made to various businesses, but nothing that couldn't be solved by wearing ear plugs. There were no English TV channels available, but this didn't bother me as I spent very little time in the room. The hotel is in a pedestrian area, so only taxis can take you right up to the front door - all other methods of transport will involve walking for a few minutes. The bathroom doors aren't super private, which may be an issue depending on travel companions. All in all, a great stay and I would happily return

The staff was very kind and helpful- especially Joaquin. They were patient and gave lots of travel directions, food recommendations and secured taxis. The mattresses were comfortable. The breakfast was good. It is very close to La Rambla and a couple of metro stations. We arrived on Saturday and the streets were loud all.night.long!!!!!!! We were a bit worried that we would not be sleeping during our vacation - but the other nights were relatively quiet and we rested well.

Lovely clean room, comfortable bed, excellent powerful shower, everything necessary. Breakfast buffet selection was excellent with many choices for a good fill up to prepare for a days sightseeing around the city. Really central location in the beautiful Gothic Quarter, easily walkable to many attractions and nearby connections with the buses and metro for those areas further afield. Would recommend and definitely stay again for another Barcelona trip.

Well run with very pleasant and helpful staff. They moved breakfast to 7am for the week of the conference I was in town for!! They also found me some power converters when I forgot mine. The hotel is in the gothic quarter so the most fabulous architecture and history are within 5 minutes walk of you. Even the Segura familia is within walking distance. But it is noisy at night. Nothing much the hotel can do about that. So if you are a light sleeper, bring earplugs. All in all I highly recommend staying here if you love history and want to live in it rather than visit it.

I liked it overall. Staff at the front desk are super nice. However, the place is very noisy. There was construction work starting before 9 am, which is too early for vacation. Otherwise, elevator is noisy all day. Breakfast was good, but then wait staff would bang dishes loudly in the bins while cleaning up. I suppose one gets what one pays for. It was an ok stay overall. Location is great, super walkable.

This was a great, central place to stay. Metro station within 5 minutes walk, but so much more within easy walking. I did walk past it a couple of times - the frontage is quite narrow - but the Fernando café next door helped! It's in the Gothic quarter, so big spacious rooms aren't to be expected, but my double room was big enough, with a nice en-suite. The only tiny thing I missed was the ability to make a cup of tea - but I am English, and it really wasn't a problem.

Great place to stay in the heart of old city !
We stayed 5 days here and loved the location. It is in the heart of the old city. VERY CONVENIENT for tourist ! Walk to many top places and take metro at very nearby station. Staff was VERY helpful and friendly. Room was clean and comfortable. Great Breakfast buffet ! We would definitely stay here again !!!

Perfect location just off Las Ramblas so it was quiet for sleeping. We had a double superior room so the space was good. The breakfast options were just ok at best. Our room was clean and the people at the front desk were helpful. We would stay here again.

Room was pretty standard. Staff was great and the location was excellent. However, shuttle buses cannot go to the hotel due to city restrictions, only cabs for €50 to the airport. Pick up point for shuttle is a10 minute walk. Okay if you don't have children and lots of luggage, or early in the morning when it is still dark.

The hostal was in a central area, walking distance to everything and 1 stop away on the train from the beach which was excellent. The area around hostal is very busy, must watch for pocketbooks and exposed jewelry, but that’s pretty much all around the rambla area. The hostal was clean, the room we booked was spacious, good amenities and very bright. The staff was courteous and the breakfast was balanced and tasty. The on-site restaurant was also convenient, food was good and very affordable.

Great location
We stayed here for three nights. The staff always greeted you when you walked past and helped us with any questions we asked. The location was great as it was close to all the sites, water and restaurants. Breakfast was continental but with lots of choice. It also had a restaurant attached which was great for meals after a long day and it was well priced and tasted great. Only negative was the bed was a bit uncomfortable.

We stayed for two nights at Hostal Fernando. The staff was very friendly and helpful with all questions we had. Location was perfect. Close to food, walking distance to waterfront and historic gothic area. We couldn’t be more impressed with the staff. Breakfast had lots of options, fresh, and always stocked. Would recommend to anyone staying in Barcelona. Thank you again for a lovely stay!

while I rated the staff excellent for service there was an exception. our last morning I asked for a wake-up call at 6:00am. no wake up call was given and I was relying on this to be at the airport on time for my flight. Fortunately I awoke at 6:07am.and we were able to be on time for the taxi

Great area - easily accessible by metro and in walking distance of good shops and restaurants. Staff were lovely and super helpful. Wifi was a bit patchy in our room but there was good service so we didn’t really mind.

The Hostal Fernando staff were very welcoming and helpful. There is a good restaurant attached to the Hostel for convenience and wonderful restaurants nearby. It is in a very interesting part of Barcelona (Gothic Quarter) and it is easy to walk to most places. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
