I pre-booked Le Palacete for one night in anticipation of our visit to Barcelona for a day. I had no prior knowledge about the company Sonder, but I downloaded their app in order to complete the check-in process. You have to submit IDs for each guests that will be staying at the property so be prepared to have proper documents and take a selfie to upload to Sonder. After that just follow the instructions listed. Pro: Spacious, clean, and located in a secure building. Close to restaurants and attractions all within walking distance (close to Park Güell) Basic amenities provided and there's a water cooler in the lobby. Con: Prior damages to certain areas of our room e.g. cracked floor, loose and broken drawer handle; also had an issue when trying to return the key back inside the lockbox but luckily an employee came to take the key back for us (or you'd have to pay a fee for non-return). Overall it was a decent stay and I'm curious to check out other Sonder locations in my future trips.

The property location is fabulous in the heart of Gracia. Restaurants & coffee options are plentiful (especially Don Teo! just down the block). The property is super secure which was comforting. However- there were two larger issues: 1) there was an obvious maintenance issue where a moveable wall was completely off its tracks, and had been that way for some time. I notified Sonder and they did have it promptly addressed (a 3 hour job). 2) the other issue is that the property is not at all soundproofed. Everything that happens in the neighboring room can be heard loud & clear.. 3) minor, but wall was banged up & carpet stained In general- property was nicely located and I do very much like Sonder’s business model. Will definitely consider their ‘soundproofed’ options for future travels.

It was a huge room with historical feel but nicely updated. courtyard and dining area was also nice. Convenient location but quiet from the street noise. Only thing was running out of toilet paper and tv remote run out of battery. We really enjoyed it. Thank you!

Technological Impediments
Online check-in introduced unnecessary difficulties. Lights (and electricity) did not work. I learned after I booked - paid for and confirmed - my stay that there was a mandatory online check in process. At that point, I was already in Spain. That process required confirming my phone number. I had left my primary phone in a repair store in the US - I could not confirm that phone number. I brought a cheap american phone to Spain for WiFi, but even after buying a pre-paid spanish SIM card, I could not text to confirm that number either (apparently spanish and american texts are on different bands). This was resolved by emailing the reservation email from a previous hotel wifi, but was sort of terrifying, and took a lot of time / worry. When I got to le palecete and used the keycafe check-in locker, I got a keyfob without a card. I tried emailing from the lobby wifi, and that did not get a response in the thirty minutes while i downloaded skype to call. They were very helpful on the phone in getting me another keycard, and I got into the apartment. Once I got into the apartment, none of the lights nor sockets worked. The breaker panel was open - so someone else had had this problem before, but flipping the switches did nothing. I was out of battery/power to call again, and just went to sleep. There were no checkout instructions. The room itself was beautiful, in a perfect location, walkable from everything.

The reservation system for Sonder was difficult to work with and takes real patience. Once you are at the property you are very pleased with how beautiful the bedroom and sitting room are for you. However our room lacked heat for 2 nights and we couldn't find any staff person on site for the first two nights. We enjoyed the ambiance of the neighborhood and the proximity of many restaurants. The Metro was not far and that too was a bonus.

Beautiful building, spacious room and good value. But our room smelled like methane/sewage sometimes, our coffeemaker didn’t work and I missed having staff on site. Sometimes they were responsive over Whatsapp if I was having an issue and sometimes they were not.

This was a beautiful property and we enjoyed ourselves here. However, it was somewhat nontraditional in some ways. There is no front desk staff. You receive an email with instructions and codes to enter the front door of the building. Then a key to your room is available to you via an electronic wall safe after you enter another code. We were lucky to run into cleaning staff who were very helpful in storing our luggage while the room was prepared in light of our early arrival. In hindsight, this was all explained in emails before the visit, I just hadn't paid close enough attention to the content. You'll need to complete the online information before you arrive to get these important codes. The room was beautiful but maybe a bit too modern. The sofa sleeper was under a transparent glass ceiling which lit up that area and no way to avoid the brightness. The shower area was open to everyone to see which made for some slightly uncomfortable turning of heads while one of us bathed. Overall beautiful hotel just come prepared with the codes and emails.

The hotel was beautiful and the rooms spacious. The man who checked us in seemed rather unclear about the instructions and the hotel in general. Maybe he was a new hire or just helping out. One example is that he said there was a phone in our room to call for breakfast. No phone in room. We plugged in something using a converter and it blew all the elec in our room. He didn’t know how to fix it but luckily the wonderful and amazing housekeeper just happened to be there and she figured it out. The housekeeper was very sweet and kind and was very helpful. A for her. One suggestion foe the hotel is to provide washcloths to wash your face. Thanks.

The room was very nice and well designed with a cute patio and excellent location. But there is no reception area. You actually don't see nor speak to anybody at the hotel. You must download the app in advance in order to key in the code at the main entrance, enter the hotel, get your room card and get in your assigned room. Otherwise, you have to wait until someone else enters or leaves the hotel to be able to get in...that's what happened to us.

in concept the hotel is very nice. In practice, having to ring the bell to go in to check in (and after your room key is de-activated) is not great. I, and people who came to visit me, were told to be patient but honestly we're at a hotel so perhaps the service should be a bit faster! For instance on my last day, I had to ring the bell 20 times before someone came to the door. When I was checking in, it was better, but I still had to ring 3 times. I also would've asked more advice if someone was around all the time but they weren't. I saw other reviews discussing the room I was in where there was water damage, stained walls, etc. For the cost, that doesn't seem right. Additionally, my room had a skylight which was lovely during the day, it was very dark (and very dim lights) at night.

I love the Gràcia neighborhood in which this hotel is located. It has many bars, restaurants and shops and the streets are always lively and filled with people. The property itself is on a lovely side street and it’s very close to several metro stops. My wish is that the room included a bidet ( one great thing about traveling in Europe ) as did all our other hotels in Spain. I also wish that breakfast would be included in the room price. Overall, it was a lovely place to stay.
