"When we first got there things didn't seem to bad. The Host's assistant showed us around and we settled in. Looking around we discovered there were 2 melamine plates to use, an assortment of cutlery, including plasticware. There were no "glass" glasses. Plastic glasses, Sippy cups other plastic cups. "The staff was amazing! Everyone was helpful and attentive. The rooms were clean, can't complain there. The only thing that I would have wanted would have been a greater variety of food at the buffet restaurant other than that the Views were amazing from my room. Overall I had a very good experience at this resort. The activities at the pool were a lot of fun as well. One Last thing, if you are planning on a relaxing stay, this might not be the hotel for you, we stayed Friday through Monday and every night there was Disco Club night so there was music playing until 12 midnight and the next day, Saturday, until 1 am. I was traveling with my elderly parents so this was something we didn't like."

"We spent seven full nights at Portofino and it was truly serene. Three things stood out: 1) The staff. Our servers E and A were truly amazing. Sometimes there was a language barrier, but it was more entertaining than a negative. As a US resident visiting a foreign country I don't expect our hosts to automatically speak english and it was actually more authentic to wade through some back and forth. And it wasn't a distraction at all we enjoyed the conversation. They were always checking on us. 2) The view. We saw seven sunsets, all equally brilliant, and all different but the same at the same time. It became the highlight of every day. 3) If you want relaxation, this is it. You move on your own time. If you want to visit local areas, there is a convenient bus that rolls through and can take you to the airport or towards Barra de Potosi. Taxis and rental cars work as well and you can park there for free. And there is absolutely nothing wrong with sitting by the pool or exploring the beach all day long. We would go back 100%."
