Prefect retreat for our Thanksgiving holiday with friends and family!
This cabin is about a 30 minute drive from Natural Bridge/Gorge/and Miguel’s Pizza. It is very secluded with a short hiking trail at the rear of the property. The cabin is cozy and rustic. The decor is very eclectic and really cool! The cabin was stocked with most everything you would need (shampoo, first aid, breakfast, etc etc). Which is a good thing because once you get to the cabin, you don’t want to leave. The cabin is very spacious and comfortably can accommodate 6 people! The host was extremely helpful and we appreciate that they allow pets! We would definitely stay again!

Great weekend
We loved the cabin, a little sad we didnt get the yummy check in dinner and breakfast goodies everyone was talking about, but of well. The cabin is amazing, had plenty of room for us, very comfy beds and pillows. Coffee maker was broken, but we managed. We loved everything about it. We will for sure be back

Perfect Historical Cabin
From communication with the owner, to comfort, to seclusion, to convenience…..this cabin HAS IT ALL!!!! The cabin itself has such history and every corner seems as if it could tell a story. Our first night it rained so we spent the evening playing boardgames (provided by the owner) on the screened-in porch listening to the noises of nature. Each bedroom provided cozy beds. The bathrooms were large (both showers are walk-in) with great water pressure and everything you would need. If you forgot a toothbrush, Mary has you covered. If you need bug spray, Mary has you covered. Need a sewing kit for a loose button, Mary has you covered! The cabin is well stocked!!!!! We had our pup with us who absolutely loved the size of the yard and played fetch for hours at a time while the family relaxed on the large deck. Everything was perfect regarding our stay. Mary provided a meal on our first night (lasagna, salad and dinner rolls) and let me tell ya, delicious doesn’t even describe how good it was. Also provided to us was breakfast foods for our stay, a fridge full of water and any condiment you could ever need. Thank you Mary for sharing your property with my family. We made great memories and will definitely be returning. You deserve an award for best host and BEST CHEF!!!! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! To those of you reading this….stay here, you won’t regret it!

Wooded Retreat
Spacious cabin located in a remote wooded location providing the perfect retreat from life's busy demands. The screened in porch was the perfect spot for a morning cup of coffee, an afternoon read, or to have late night conversations. The property came stocked with all the staples and then some. We enjoyed reading books and playing games that were plentiful around the house.

a little disappointing
we just left the house today and truthfully- i was a little disappointed in the house- this was my second stay here and i absolutley loved it the first time. this time- the handle on door to the deck is broken so the door was pretty unusable- we had to leave it open all day so we didnt have to fight to get it open. there were also just some inconveniences such as the coffeepot didnt work and the oven would not light we had the ac unit on upstairs and i think the circuit breaker tripped -- the ac stopped running and it was unbearable upstairs. it also drips in the kitchen and on the deck when the air conditioning is running it just felt like the house isnt loved like it once was. its a great house and i am saddened by this

Wow! The cabin is amazing!! We couldn’t believe the size of the cabin when we walked in! We loved using the fireplace (Mary had it ready to go the first night). Impressed with all the amenities. The kitchen…ahh the kitchen, if it wasn’t there then you didn’t need it, it was stocked with all things you need to cook with. We did stay upstairs in the king size bed that was very comfy! Bathroom adjoined to master bedroom is awesome-loved the tub!! All in all, we had a great weekend getaway that was super cozy and will be returning in the future! Thank you Mary!!

We visit the Gorge every year and this has by far been my favorite cabin! While it’s situated a little further out from the State park, it is truly worth the extra travel time. The owner (and/or staff) go above and beyond to make your stay enjoyable. The cabin itself is adorable but the service provided takes the cake! The fireplace was ready to light, the fridge was stocked with pre-made meals, items for breakfast, and bottled water. The owner, Mary, was pleasant and easy to communicate with. Not to mention there was NOT a long list of chores for us to do upon check out like at other rentals. It truly was relaxing in every way. We will be back again…this time for a longer stay!

Property was as described. Lovely old cabin with lots of character. We only used the 2 bedrooms downstairs and the beds were very comfortable, plenty of covers and pillows, comfy and soft sheets. The only thing we were a little disappointed in was that the trail leading into the woods to the left when leaving the cabin was very short. After less than a quarter mile there was a sign posted that the property was private and was under another name so we turned around and went back. I had thought from the description that we would have 50+ acres to roam. Perhaps I was mistaken. It's still a lovely property and Mary has provided almost anything a person could need. We enjoyed the stay!

Be aware, Spider infested, paid for 3 rooms got 2 and host difficult to deal with 7/22/2022
This is long but it needs to be known. The pictures seem to be quite old. There is no King size bed, seems to be some false adverting, there is a queen, 2 single beds and a couch letting out into a bed. I paid for three rooms to sleep five, 4 adults one child. We got there, it had a musty smell but it is old, not a problem. I had went to the bathroom on main floor and killed 3 spiders by the toilet. The upstairs bedroom was to have a King size bed, according to pictures but had a couch made into a bed. The door to the room was closed but we didn't notice the sticky note saying it was under construction, it was on the door. It was very hot up there but it had a window A/C unit. We went to plug the unit in and a sticky note said do not use the A/C, well there was no way anyone could sleep up there with heat being what it was. So we closed the door and that's when I noticed the note. So I attempted to call the host, I left a couple of messages, she called me back. I told her we paid for 3 rooms but only 2 was available, she said she thought the child could just sleep on the living room couch (love seat). I let her know that was not what I paid for. She said some one could sleep on the screen in porch (a day bed type thing) with ceiling fans,(that was a joke). She was a piece of work. In between this time of 45 minutes on the phone the other guest notice spiders everywhere, I mean in every corner and space. She said she cleaned for 3 days, I suggested spraying for spiders. My son found a vacuum and went around to every bed room and bathroom sucking up spiders, I then had him to set the vacuum on the screened in porch. She did have us to go ahead and turn on the A/C up stairs, after 45 minutes it was leaking in kitchen. We unplugged the unit so it would not damage anything, I told her we had to stay there for the night but was not staying for the 2nd. She ask what I wanted, I said a refund for the night we did not stay. We left the next morning and I let her know, as she ask me to. I tried contacting Vrbo several times hour wait every time. I contacted her, leaving phone messages, text message and message through vrbo, she never responded. Vrbo finally a answered and I sent pictures and spoke to some one, they said I had to contact the host and go through the proper steps, so I tried, no luck so I'm out of that money. So that is the experience I had with this listing.

This cabin was beautiful and the host outdid herself with all of the food that she left. The upstairs is a little dark but we spent most of our time downstairs. There were little hairs all inside the bathtub upstairs that I cleaned out before we used the tub but besides that the cabin was so nice. I loved reading about its history in the article hung on the wall in the kitchen. I would definitely recommend this cabin to anyone who wants a peaceful place to relax away from home.

Not clean, way below all VRBO standards of all other places we've stayed.
I have mold and other allergies and we were not able to stay, after about 1/2 hour I started having issues. The owner stated that they were a doctor and that there couldn't be any mold issues. Tell that to my EpiPen. They didn't offer even a partial refund. Very dissatisfied.

We always leave a dinner prepared by our chef for your first night. You arrived very late to the cabin. I received a call from you indicating you had some questions..I always contact VRBO to let them know what is conspiring. I Offered to alleviate your issue. Almost everything was perfect! Plan on cooking on your meals as there's no where to eat except for fast food. The oven was not functioning properly as stated in some of the other reviews. We were able to cook everything in the toaster/convection oven so hopefully it holds out. We downloaded the instruction manual for the oven and still were not able to get it to function properly. In the whole scheme of things it wasn't a deal breaker. The cabin is very unique and very well appointed. You are guaranteed a good time.

Beautiful cabin with rich history
This place is truly lovely - be sure to read it's history on the newspaper story on the kitchen wall. There is a huge dining room with attached great room and a massive stone fireplace. Tons of windows. Large kitchen with big center island. Lots of property and loads of amenities. One of our favorite places was the screened in porch with the great views of the outdoors. Very spacious and comfortable. Communicating with host was easy as Mary is very accomodating. Having dinner prepared for us for a night and breakfast foods in the fridge was really a nice bonus. We didn't use the trails as we had a puppy with us, but the front yard is very large and they loved exploring just that area. We also had beautiful weather. Also loved the outdoor deck. Had a few hiccups with some appliances, but minor in relation to an overall lovely experience.

Pros: kitchen, shower, sleeping porch; Cons: master bed and finicky oven
Lovely property with a large yard, fire pit and woods— lots of room inside and out so you’re not always on top of others in your group. The downstairs shower is especially nice! Many amenities were provided, including breakfast items in the fridge! Incredibly well-stocked kitchen— cast iron cookware, utensils, misc tools… all the things you never remember you need until you reach for them lol. The sleeping porch was a fav aspect too. The only downsides were: 1. we never could get the oven to heat up (turned on but never got hot). But we easily made do with the stove top/burners and the large toaster oven (accommodated a large cast iron pan!) 2. The master bedroom leaves a little to be desired. It’s a bit dark (in the top of the peaked roof so windows only an option at one end). But the most disappointing part was the bed was just a pull out couch and the mattress was very thin and uncomfortable. After a long day of hiking it wasn’t restorative at all. But the rest of the cabin made up for it!

Good location for RRG access
Our initial reaction seeing this cabin was disappointment as it was so close to the road! We mistakenly thought it would be deep in the woods surrounded by the 60 plus acres! We quickly unloaded the groceries and took our two dogs for a hike in the woods spotting the trail entrance, and excited to get some exercise and explore the woods on the advertised trails…..the single trail petered out after a couple hundred yards so we were very let down….and as mentioned by a previous tenant, both people and one dog ended up with a multitude of chigger bites so we had to deal with itching our entire week’s stay (we didn’t go back in those woods!) The cabin itself is spacious and homey but the furnishings seemed dated. The screened porch was nice but the tile flooring was cracked and chipped. The kitchen incredibly well furnished with appliances and utensils. A wonderful dinner awaited us in the refrigerator. Only problem was the oven didn’t work. There is a toaster oven but that definitely scaled back meal plans. Have to agree with previous renter’s comments on cabin’s cleanliness….with allowances and understanding it’s an old cabin, there were so many cob webs - the cabin just didn’t feel clean. The beds were not comfortable and some of the bedding was super old. I went to do laundry and found a dryer full of towels…. I did fold and leave on table, But I find this unacceptable for a rental property. Property is a good location for accessing Daniel Boone National Forest/RRG! Overall, we were disappointed. We hoped to be staying at a 4-5 star rental based on the price but it fell far short.

Quiet country retreat!
Overall, the vacation to Beattyville was a week of relaxation in the beautiful country of eastern KY! The house is a lovely log cabin and the host (Mary) was gracious and attentive. There were many positives to the property: prepared dinner; stocked kitchen; plenty of towels and bathroom supplies; beautiful vaulted ceilings; eclectic decor; nice deck off the kitchen; spacious property with badminton/hammock/firepit; super nice screened in porch; bbq available; and a quiet neighborhood. Basically, the house had stocked virtually everything you would ever need for vacation! As well, the house was pet friendly with no additional fee!!! Loved this! There were a handful of drawbacks however: the bed in the upstairs master suite is a pullout couch which isn't terribly comfortable; the tv upstairs didn't work; while the surfaces were generally clean, the cobwebs were plentiful (and I know you get spiders in a log cabin, these were long standing cobwebs); and (though no fault of the host) the property is chigger plentiful, so be prepared! My husband has about 1000 chigger bites still itching insanely a week after getting them, and one dog had about 50. Perhaps repetitive treatment of the yard with human-grade DE would be helpful?

Thank you for visiting. I will let the housekeeper know about the cobwebs. When we have no guests booked my French bulldog and I go up to stay and hike. I have never experienced any chiggers ever. Positively Magic Peddlers Fork!!
My husband and I stayed at Peddlers Fork Inn for our 5th wedding anniversary from July 8th - July 12th. Originally we had planned to stay only 3 nights, but we were so enamored with this cabin, we decided to stay an extra day, and we are SO happy we did!! Everything has been thought of at Peddlers Fork - the amount of love and care put into every single detail absolutely sings as soon as you walk in the door. From the stocked chef’s kitchen to the fantastic lodge-like living room, the screened in sitting room, and the boujee bathroom - We can promise you will NOT be disappointed. There is fantastic artwork throughout, as well as lovely antique & vintage items (my absolute favorite is the gang of jackalope busts) - and also REAL plants! That are alive! And thriving! It’s no wonder, there is so much positive energy just bursting from this property, I’d be a happy house plant here too! It’s a peaceful and quiet, absolutely magical getaway that we will never forget - we haven’t stopped talking about it since we’ve come home to Cleveland. We honestly feel it rivaled our weeklong honeymoon in Savannah, GA. Mary was a delight to communicate with, and made sure we were all squared away for our extra day no problem. We cannot recommend this place enough, and we hope to return again. Also, our 10lb terrier, Bean, was very pleased with the two walls full of antique dog photos, one of which looked like it could have been Bean in a past life. She would also like to comment that all places for napping have been thoroughly tested and approved by her.

We had a girl’s getaway at Mary’s cabin in June. Back when we were looking to book in the area, we kept being drawn back to Peddler’s Fork Inn so we made the booking. Absolutely the right choice…from Mary’s quick communication, to the pristine condition of the cabin, to the dinner waiting for us when we arrived. The kitchen was so well equipped with pretty much any appliance, utensil, cookware you could need, plus fresh eggs, bacon, English muffins and so much more! I slept on the sofa bed and was very comfortable. We felt it was the perfect place for us with lots of space, especially the main room and the screened porch. But, to be honest, we all spent most of our time in the kitchen!! Be sure to read the newspaper article posted to the right of the stove. One of the greatest compliments we can give is that it felt like home.

What a gem of a place! We loved our stay at the Peddler's Fork Inn with my mother in law and our two young girls. There was plenty of space for everyone, the beds were comfortable, the bathrooms are beautifully renovated and the kitchen is well-appointed. I just love the eclectic mix of art, antiques, taxidermy, etc. in this lovely cabin setting - just such a fun, warm vibe! We also so appreciated the breakfast fixings and dinner the first night as well as the games, toys and puzzles. As with any old home or log cabin in the woods, there are a few quirks, but that's to be expected and didn't affect our stay. We will very likely be back with another set of grandparents.

This cabin was just the retreat my family needed. What a beautiful weekend. The level of detail and care put into this place is amazing. I highly recommend coming here! Dinner was provided the first night, breakfast every morning, plentiful firewood, artwork EVERYWHERE. The vintage dog photographs in the hallway were especially charming, the taxidermied friends were fun (we named them all), and exploring the woods was the best medicine. My husband and I loved having the upstairs suite to ourselves and our teenagers had plenty of space, wifi, and satellite tv to keep them happy when we weren’t playing games or out hiking.

We had a lovely time relaxing in the hills of Kentucky over New Year's Eve 2020. Although it rained our entire stay, the wood burning fireplace kept us content and cozy inside. There were 6 of us--4 adults and 2 kids (8 & 5 years old) and we had plenty of room. Would happily return for another stay!

Well-appointed, private cabin
Mary was a terrific host and communicator. We enjoyed staying in the cabin and found it had everything we needed to leave the rest of the world behind.

Beautiful property, elegant decor, nicely maintained
This accommodation was above and beyond our expectations. The owners have thought of, and provided, everything a renter may need from toiletries to sports equipment and games. They even provided beautiful fresh flower arrangements.. The home was comfy and cozy. The gourmet kitchen is great. We self quarantined here over Thanksgiving for a change of scenery during COVID-19. One of the owners is a Chef and owns a catering company so we ordered Thanksgiving dinner for an extra fee. The food was phenomenal!!! Breakfast food is provided with the rental. If arriving off season I suggest bringing food to make yourself for lunch/dinner as there are not any grocery chains near, very limited takeout, and no delivery to this location. I recommend Peddlers Fork Inn to anyone visiting the Red River Gorge area.

Cabin with an enchanted forest
What a unique cabin and property! We’ve stayed at a handful of cabins at the gorge, and this was by far our favorite. If you like to cook, this kitchen was a dream. Lots of little touches like complimentary breakfast foods, orange juice and coffee, and plenty of condiments and spices. Our favorite part though had to be the pine woods behind the cabin. It was so magical down there. We took a small hike and felt like we were in an enchanted forest and time no longer existed. Such a special and gorgeous property. Our dogs had so much fun running around and playing. We only saw a handful of cars drive past during our stay, so you definitely get that peace and privacy if you are looking for it. I would stay again in a heart beat!
