Hiawatha Creek Camp / sleeps 4-6 / ON Clam Lake/Near Torch Lake -5 min. by boat
This modern, stylish 2-bedroom cottage will become an annual vacation destination for you! Relax on the deck, the dock or around the fire while you take in the serene sights and sounds of Northern Michigan wildlife. Say good morning to Frank and Jane (our local mallard duck couple) as they make their morning commute up the small Hiawatha Creek. Bring your boat and dock it at the house for quick access to Torch Lake, Lake Bellaire and all the Lower Chain of Lakes has to offer. The cottage is just 2.5 miles by land or 5 minutes by boat to Torch Lake. Dock your boat at “The Dockside Torch Lake” and enjoy food and drinks on the deck overlooking Clam River and Torch Lake. It is a calm 30 minute cruise through the beautiful Grass River to Lake Bellaire.
At night enjoy a bonfire and grilling out, all under the beauty of a northern Michigan star-filled sky. Inside the house, the well-stocked kitchen, healthy collection of board games and 4K TV will keep everyone fed and entertained. The gas fireplace is not for guest use, After an active day in the sun, curl up on the Tuft & Needle mattresses under premium linens while getting ready for another day on the lake.
Bellaire offers great destinations like Short’s Brewery, Glacial Hills (30 miles of hiking and biking) , access to the Antrim County Chain of Lakes, bike/kayak rentals, Shanty Creek Golf and Ski Resort, a bowling alley, a movie theater and so much more! The quaint village of Alden is also a few miles away and offers unique shops, a weekly (summer) farmers market and live outdoor music event. Traverse City is a quick 40 minute drive and offers access to world class dining, picturesque wineries and terrific breweries.
If you’re looking to balance all that great eating and drinking with some physical activity, the owner has curated a handful of active challenges for our visitors. We invite you to share your times in our record book and compete with guests who came before. Maybe you’ll set a record while enjoying your stay! Primary guest must be at least 25 years old. This was the 3rd year we have rented this property. The new owners did a great job updating the decor. The views over Clam Lake did not disappoint again this year. The location has easy access to everything we wanted to do. Hope to stay here again next year.
House provided us with everything we needed. Only thing we had to bring was food, toiletries, and clothes. Easy to find and property manager was easy to get into contact with. Nice time spending with friends and was a great place to just hang out at.
This was our second time staying at the property and, again, it did not disappoint. Adorable, clean and well stocked cottage. Clam like is a perfect calm lake to dock the boat while being a fast cruise into torch lake. Great communication with the property manager, very quick to respond. We have stayed before with our young kids and then came back for an adult trip, perfect for either occasion. Definitely plan to book again. HIGHLY recommend
This is our second year renting this property. It still impressed us this year. We felt like we were home... The cottage has just about everything we could need for cooking meals - other than food :-) The owners/management were very quick to respond to cleaning up the yard after a storm had passed through - without us even asking. Being right off Clam Lake is perfect if you have a boat to dock at the guest slip in front. Easy access to both Torch Lake and Lake Bellaire. The property is a quick drive to all the locations we wanted as well.
We will definately look to rent this again next year and are already looking forward to it.
Thanks!!!

Weather snafoos impacted stay
Due to inclement weather, the septics through the streets were going to have to be opened and drained 1/2 through our stay and we were told that those employees may be entering the cottage as well 1/2 way through our vacation. . Also, there was initially no papertowels, laundry soap, and toilet paper that was sooo thin it couldn't be used so we had to go purchase those items but the manager eventually stated she dropped them off, but we didn't get some of the items that she dropped off. The vacuum was entirely full and I had to empty it to ensure that I could properly keep the cottage clean. However, Cottage was very clean upon entry, bedding was comfortable. I hope we are reimbursed for the days that we weren't there due to septic issues. I am not entirely clear on that either. So there were some great things, and some ok things, and some things were unprepared.
This property is located on Clam Lake, and located in great proximity to the local attractions. The management folks were very helpful with suggestions for restaurants and activities. The property itself is very comfortable, and had everything we needed to enjoy our time there. We even enjoyed a nightly visit from a beaver which we named “Buddy”. If you enjoy a quiet getaway, we highly recommend this property. Thank you to the owners for sharing it with us.
The cottage was the perfect location. My family enjoyed having a dock to keep the boat and a fully stocked kitchen to make our meals daily. We had family in town with us down the road, so it was a beautiful time sharing meals out at the picnic table overlooking the water. The shed was fully stocked with wood to accommodate. We had morning bonfires with coffee and evening fires with s’mores. My family throughly enjoyed playing Clue on a cloudy day. The village market was a convenient store in town for all our needs.
* only hiccup was the toilet is easily clogged. The property manager Kristi is top notch and assisted us fast and all was well. *
We definitely would stay again and again !
This was our second year of staying at this property. The new owners did a great job redecorating. Kristi is great to work with. We look forward to coming back next year!
We had a wonderful time in Bellaire. We wanted to remain socially distant as best we could so we ended up making all of our meals at the house and we had everything we needed to do that. We hiked and did a ton of biking (check out the TART trail and Little Traverse Wheelway) and you can’t beat the view of Clam Lake at the house. We will definitely be back again!

Nice quiet getaway.
I would come back if wasn't so expensive. Room rate and cleaning fees, that fee and tax. Over 300 night.
We had a very nice weekend at this property. It is a very cozy cottage and has everything you could need. With Kristi's recommendation we rented a boat from a nearby marina and were able to dock it at the property. We were able to have a fire each night and look out onto Clam Lake. I would recommend this property to anyone looking to go to Northern Michigan.
Our experience staying there was very good the house is super cute and clean. The owners take great care in having everything at your fingertips if you want to cook in the kitchen, grill out or just chill.
I definitely would stay there again.
Great place to stay. Very nice cottage for a family. Dock available for your boat. Good location and easy access to the other area lakes and attractions.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The location was perfect. It was so relaxing sitting on the porch listening to wild life. Fishing was great on Clam Lake. Just a short boat ride to Torch Lake. We also enjoyed boating down the Grass River to Lake Bellaire.
We loved everything about this place. The location on Clam lake is unbeatable. We came on a hot week (for N Michigan) and we were completely comfortable with the small A/C window units. We were expecting to sweat a little so it was a nice surprise. The host was great and met us at check in. It was clean and well appointed.
