About this property
Storybook Cabin - Private Stream, Incredible Canyon View, Starlink Internet
Serenity would be the best word to describe this rustic 2-bedroom, 1 bathroom fishing cabin built in 1934 on 1 acre secluded just above the Poudre River surrounded by the Roosevelt National Forest. Starlink internet recently added. This is the type of charming and rustic cabin featured in story books that you read as a kid. Sipping coffee is often like playing musical chairs due to the numerous grand views to enjoy and appreciate from every angle of the property. By far the best view of Profile Rock in the Poudre Canyon. Amazing fishing in the Poudre River is just a 2-minute walk from your front doorstep. Enjoy listening to the mountain stream that runs along the back patio and side of the cabin during the spring, summer and early fall. 1 hour 10 minutes from Fort Collins, 2 hours from Steamboat Springs. Please note the 2nd cabin (bunk house) will never be occupied during your stay. The bunk house is only used by owners during their personal stays at the cabin. You will enjoy complete privacy and seclusion of the 1-acre property.
Fun and convenient restaurant, bar and general store 3 minutes down the highway. Perfect mountain getaway retreat to unwind and hit the reset button. Large, fully furnished kitchen with dining area, family room with wood burning stove, tire swing, numerous outdoor seating areas, including multiple decks and patios with 2 grills. Large sun-filled yard. Sleeping arrangements are as follows: bedroom 1 = 1 king bed with private deck, and bedroom 2 = 1 king bed, and a twin bunk with trundle.
Additional Notes: No pets allowed. Starlink internet. TV has built in DVD player and a handful of older movies that you are welcome to enjoy. Tons of wildlife viewing opportunities include: mule deer, elk, moose, bighorn sheep, black bear, mountain lion, bobcat, squirrels, seasonal birds including hummingbirds.

Enjoyed the beautiful cabin surrounded by beautiful views!! Spent some time fishing the river & exploring- had some rain each evening which gave us very cool temperatures! We all had a wonderful time!!!
This really is a wonderfully updated old cabin with lots of options for watching wildlife, playing games in the yard, listening to / exploring the babbling stream, and lots of seating options outside for reading, painting and relaxing. Owner was very quick to respond to questions and to a concern we had.
Brought the family up from Texas to see the mountains and find some snow. Beautiful doesn’t even describe the scenery of canyon or mountains. We hiked along the Poudre river and drove up to Montgomery Pass trail and found snow hip deep. What an experience for all of us. Thank you for sharing this cabin, truly a slice of heaven.
We loved the views from the cabin. It is right in the middle of beautiful country. So many trails and hiking to do with in minutes from the property. The kids loved the creek and climbing around. We had everything we needed. We did have some wildlife at night on the roof! We could hear something scampering around. We saw deer in the front yard one day and lots of hummingbirds and chipmunks. We had a great stay. It was the best mountain vacation experience we have had!
My family and I had an amazing and fun time staying here. It was definitely isolated and it was a great place for my family to go back to a simplicity lifestyle. With no cable and spotty wifi, we were able to unplug from the technology world. We played board games(that the cabin had and others we brought), made a 1,000 piece puzzle that the kiddos picked before we headed to Colorado, and played in some soft white snow! We didn't see much wildlife but did the tracks in the mornings on the snow.
The only thing that would have made it absolutely perfect would have been a washer and dryer, especially since the kiddos went through all of their clothes before the trip was over. It wasn't bad though, I just washed some clothes the old fashion way ;)
We would definitely come back again and highly recommend to all who are wanting to get a way from it all and reconnect with nature. You will not be disappointed.
This cabin was great for our fishing trip. The setting was perfect in a beautiful canyon with easy access to the river. The deck on the front of the house was perfect for grilling and relaxing after a long day on the river. As the description stated, this is a very remote place. Don’t plan on watching television or having great internet access. The Wi-Fi worked well enough to be able to send text messages and make internet phone calls. The water does have an odor due to sulfur even after following the directions left by the owners to flush the hot water upon arrival. We took the grill apart to clean the inner workings after a grease fire began shortly after lighting it. Once clean, the grill worked great. These were just minor issues and nothing that detracted from our enjoyment of this cozy cabin. I would book again for sure. Thanks for the great trip!
We booked the cabin for a family reset before school starts this year. We had no cell service and the internet was spotty, and it was perfect. We loved the chance to unplug and commune with nature. The trees, the scenery, the deer who visited were all amazing. My kids are already asking to go back.
We enjoyed our weekend stay at the cabin! Plenty of space inside and out. The tire swing was a big hit with the kids. The views are incredible and the sound of the creek was very relaxing. The WiFi worked great for us too!

Great base for winter exploration
We had a great stay in your beautiful cabin over NewYear's. It was nice and warm even in mid winter, and it's only 20-30 min from all the wonderful backcountry skiing around Cameron pass. Nice kitchen, comfy beds, a cozy stove, nice hosts - what else could you ask for?

Amazing Cabin
Thank you for allowing our family to relax at your beautiful mountain cabin, it was everything we were looking for and more! We will stay again if we our out that way! Take Care!
I can't begin to explain how wonderful this cabin was. This is my first Christmas without my father, so my family and I (husband and 5 kids in their 20s) wanted to try something different. This was exactly what we needed. The cabin was beautiful and fit us all comfortably. The bed in the master bedroom was the most comfortable bed I have slept in. We wanted remote, and we got that. The scenery from every window, especially the porch, was breathtaking. We washed our clothes and hung them out on the line outside. Ft Collins is only an hour away, and we were able to use Instacart to deliver our groceries, which was awesome. The whole vacation was magical, and the host, Aaron, was so kind and welcoming, very easy to get in touch with when we had questions. Would love to come back someday.
