I'm a seasoned global traveller. Expedia messed up my private shuttles twice, I was travelling with young kids. I booked my own and I'm still waiting for a refund. I spent 4-hours on their chat and phone calls trying to resolve it, no solutions provided. I kept a copy of the chat also, for reference. The flight via Whizz appeared cheap, but isn't, they add £20-£25 to select a seat, normally I wouldn't care but I was travelling with kids, so needed to. Whizz also charged me £90 each way to check-in one bag, scandalous! - book a different flight company. I booked this particular hotel for the kids as it showed lots of water parks, however they were all closed!! This should have been advised in advance. There are 3 or 4 hotels within the same complex and they don't actually tell you the hotel name until you've paid - the photos looked good, which is deliberate mis-selling! I stayed at the Polynesia hotel, and the hotel itself is fine, nice architecture within, however it's facilities were also very very poor. Only one restaurant open, and although I paid for half-board they charge you for your minerals, beers and wine - one should be free min. The one tiny paddling pool is surrounded by smokers, ditto the restaurant, this is not ideal for kids. No other pool for free. It has one indoor paid pool, its £15 for each adult, £12 for each kid, for one hour, its tiny! Food was average, lacked taste, boring, we ate out, much better food locally. You need a car, it's a long way out

The resort is perfect for families. The staff are so helpful. I’m vegetarian and asked for an alternative on ‘seafood’ night and within minutes the chef had made me an individual dinner. Highly recommended.

The good, we were placed in Polynesia hotel, very clean, modern and plenty of sun beds. Staff excellent and very accommodating. Lots of facilities and the beach club was great. The not so good, most sun beds were not useable, old and worn. Food average, evening adult entertainment not worth staying for and some of the amenities, disco and a la carte restaurant closed but we weren’t informed if this. Asked for late check out 2pm instead of 12 and charged 48 euro, even though the hotel was probably half full.

Good experience but won’t be coming back
I will start with the disadvantages, I have paid for all inclusive expecting everything included, guess what not at all you cannot even get a small bottle of water you have to fill it up in a cup and also not even a cup of coffee my husband had to get the cheapest coffee from the automatic coffee machine that tastes rubbish but to get a proper machine coffee he had to pay €2.50 per cup of coffee. The food wasn’t too bad but definitely wasn’t much selection of food to choose from. The rooms are out dated for the amount we’ve paid. The entertainment wasn’t bad at least my kids had fun, we barely used Riwo pool as it was not much to do. Every morning we got a shuttle to the holiday world pools it was fantastic there kids had a blast. Lastly my husband accidentally left his two tshirt Iv called the reception twice I found them busy and I left them a message guess what no reply. Overall I think this place need more improvement.

what I booked
Not what I booked . I booked a junior suite but was put in a standard room in holiday village . Junior suites are in the Polynesian hotel . Not allowed to change , not allowed to upgrade even if I paid more , what I got was a allocation on arrival holiday in holiday world this was made very clear by the staff in holiday village !, The costs also match the Polynesian hotel not the cheaper holiday village !! Completely unable to contact Hotels.com got a customer service email address which was a waste of time as it’s not monitored. Holiday village was a decent enough hotel clean , reasonable food and drink , decent room but I was expecting sun beds on the patio and good views and got four chairs and a view of the local train line ! I use Hotels.com regularly but very disappointed with this arrangement.

We stayed at the Hotel Riwo, one of the four hotels in this complex. If purchasing the roulette deal this is most likely where you would end up. On the plus side, this is a smaller hotel and we liked this as we had a 5 and 2 year old, pools were not overly busy, the evening entertainment was more intimate but you could take a stroll to other hotels to use the facilities like bowling in the polynesia. However, this hotel is placed a good walk up a very steep hill.l, the hotel provides a bus between 10am and 6pm but its a tiring trek if you need to do it with 2 kids. Beac club which is included is great for kids, would be better for older kids and teenagers with lots of water slides deeper pools. The food at Riwo was good. Good selection of foods each day and evening but have to agree with other reviews, can get a little repetitive. Drinks were very good, free slushies for kids and adults had a good selection of premium alcohols like smirnoff, bacardi, gordons, beefeater and loads more all included. All in all a good holiday especially as we got it at a reduced price around January and paid a little over half the normal nightly rate. I would recommend a visit.

It literally catered for everything! The food was brilliant plenty of variety for all the family and great kids only counter. Arcade, trampolines, go cars (additional cost) small play area with slide, kids entertainment and shop on site. All the staff were lovely and couldnt do enough except for 1 guy in the beach club bar..we put it down to him having a bad day though! The water park was excellent we stayed around the jungle which only had water upto my toddlers waste so very safe and enjoyable. Plenty of life guards on duty and toilets and whole area was cleaned regularly. All in all an excellent stay. One small point for possible change, allow express check in when rooms are not ready. We waited almost an hour to check in but the room wasnt ready so we had to go off again and come back for the key. We werent too bothered but might have been better to maybe get someone to go around with clip board checking names then letting them know room wasnt ready get the paper work filled out and thrn bring groups back in 15 minute slots to complete checkin and get info on hotel from receptionist therefore no huge long ques. All inclusive worth it with kids!!!

What we have seen on Expedia photo's before we booked is different than we have saw!!, We booked in Hotel World Resort, they put us on RIWO Hotel which is not our choice as planned ... this is the fist time Expedia disappointed us!!! .. I'm not happy ... Hotel is old, lots of ants in the room (I have a proof of photos and complains), air noises from bathroom showers and basins all day scared the kids, there is a problem in plumbing system ... only one thing are good is the receptionest are very helpful ...

Unless you go all inclusive no options to eat in the hotet unless by the pool you pick something up from the buffet and paid for it which was not nice. The rooms are lovely and the staff and room service. Clean towels and beds dressed everyday. All the entertainment was in Spanish. Shows discos at night for kids were all in Spanish as most of the guests were Spanish no one else was really catered for. WiFi was terrible. Beach club was great

Friendly staff despite hotel looking a bit "tired". Had to ask for a kettle. Have to pay for WiFi and there seemed to be lots of "rules" ie pay for towel changes, opening of times of gym etc. Despite this would go again but not room 112!

Great hotel
Great hotel staff are really friendly and nothing was a issue. Only let down was all the facilities weren’t open as it is out of season so couldn’t get to see all the hotel and water park.

GREAT RESORT WITH KIDS
Loved this resort. I had my young daughter and we had the best suite with amazing views. The staff was overally great from day 1 until we left.

Lovely stay with friendly and helpful staff.
Our first family trip with our less than 3 months old. The room are non-smokng as it says. We arrived late and get to the snacks bar like 15 mins before the food serving closing time. The staff kindly sorted us out with nice sandwiches and freshly fried fries when the kitchen was already closed. The hotel staff at the check-in also kindly offer us discounted rate to include lunch and unlimited used of the swimming pool unfortunately when we were to proceed the next day the offer is not being recognised. We dropped one of our baby's mitten at the buffet and the staff kept it and took them awhile to figure our it was ours as I put on a different set for my daughter when we went next. Our little one was a little big unwell after our trip to Ronda and they kindly extended the room for us for free when we asked last minute. Most appreciated. Nice buffet lunch and dinner. The only down side is the gym closed at 7pm and we have to pay 15 euro each for a 90mins swim. Typical funny system for Spanish Resort where they charges for non-existants WiFi, safe in the room etc when you pay a decent amount for a 4/5 star hotel however I guess the system is the system but the staff are so nice and friendly which make us feel looked after. The hotel room is nice and clean however found a 'hair' at the bath tub when I was cleaning it up before bathing my baby.

We stayed at the Polynesia hotel on the resort. Emailed the day before we arrived to find out what hotel we were staying at after seeing reviews about long walks after arrival. This hotel is BEAUTIFUL!! Perfect for families with everything on site that you would need including play parks, soft play room, mini golf, arcade and pools. The food was great with lots of variety and regularly replenished, there is a microwave available if needed. The only negative for us was the location. There’s a shuttle bus that will take you to the resort entrance and once outside there is a taxi rank and bus stops to take you to all of the surrounding towns. As it was out of season we didn’t get to use the water park but it looked amazing. I would recommend this hotel and I will be staying there again.

The Polynesia is a wow wow wow
Wow - what a reception area - rooms excellent- pool area great - beach club a bonus - good bus service to fuengirola and Torremolinos right outside - handy courtesy bus to ease the climb up the hill - restaurant varied and family oriented- the English breakfast was not great ( but it never is at Spanish hotels ) so do as the locals do eat fruit , meats , cheese and the many types of bread it’s great !!! — kids loved the kids clubs - The Hotel is a family hotel so no point in booking if your couple looking for a quiet break - Book the Hydros instead and not The Polynesia - loved it and returning as soon as possible

Lovely hotel, but not as described disapointing
We were allocated the Palace hotel on arrival, it was at the top of a very steep hill. the beach would have been my preference. you would expect you could use all 3 hotels to eat and drink ?? this isn't the case you can only eat and drink in your designated hotel. I asked to be moved they wasn't interested. The advertisement when booking stated 2 al a carte restaurants - we did not have any use of these. Hotel facilities where very good but you had to go to the beach resort waterpark, to get this. you could only book in advance if you wanted to eat which was a problem some days really wasn't necessary. It is defiantly not a 4 * resort as advertised, the food was ok but not what we paid for. had really good time but for the money it cost it was very disappointing. Julie Lowe
