  • This will ever be known as the chateau of Josephine Baker. She had been a singer of international renown with an extraordinary career. Born in the States in 1906, she emigrated to France and became a citizen in 1937 when she married a Jew, but not before knowing the street life in America where she’d had to sleep in cardboard shelters and scavenge in garbage bins. For ten years she was the lead in the Folies Bergeres, and admired by all who saw her. Shirley Bassey once said, “I swear in all my life I have never seen, and probably never shall see again, such a spectacular singer and performer." During WWII She won the Croix de Guerre for her work with the French Resistance. When the Germans invaded France she moved to the chateau where she helped Belgian refugees and ultimately adopted 12 children. When the builders refurbishing the chateau sent her almost broke, Grace Kelly, a close friend, offered her accommodation on the Riviera.

A lovely stay

We had a great holiday considering the weather. Beautiful location and lovely accommodation. Perfect area for walking, running and cycling close to a busy little town with everything you need.

Fantastic stay in a fantastic location

Very welcoming couple who went above and beyond. Magali and Phillip helped me immensely in ways that I didn’t even think to ask, and in English! Their adorable dog and the Devon Rex cats from next door eased my homesickness, while the coocooing of the village doves and mockingbird sent me sweetly to sleep and woke me each morning. The lodging has everything you need, and is located in one of THE most beautiful settings on this planet, with views into the forests, planes, and onto their kitchen garden, with the magnificent village castle looming above… all in tje Dordogne’s warm-colored stone, making you forget you’re living in the 21st century. The pool is a great size, and a perfect place from which to watch the swallows’ antics, capping off another day in paradise. I look forward to returning!

Nous avons passé un excellent séjour. Nous avons pu visiter plusieurs lieux magnifiques et merveilleux. Sans oublier une balade en canoë et ses paysages extraordinaires. Notre hébergement était au top ! Il ne manquait rien. La literie est au top aussi ! Nous remercions énormément nos Hôtes pour leur accueil si chaleureux , leur gentillesse, ainsi que leur bienveillance. Ils sont très réactifs aux demandes. Je les recommande fortement et de plus le cadre du gite est vraiment très paisible et calme sans oublier la piscine que nous avons pu apprécier tous les jours.Encore un grand merci Magalie et Philippe

Nous avons passé globalement un très bon séjour dans le gîte La Grange qui est attenant à la maison des propriétaires. Philippe et Magali sont très faciles d'accès et donnent beaucoup d'informations intéressantes sur les activités proposées dans la région.

Wat een geweldige locatie was dit. Het appartement ligt in de oude koeienstal naast het woonhuis. Beneden is de badkamer en verder is alles boven. Alle luxe van thuis is er. Magnetron, oven, vaatwasser, airco etc. Het zwembad is top en heerlijk. Wel ff een rustige straat oversteken maar echt prima! Hele aardige beheerders waar je het terras meedeelt maar die niet op je bord zitten te kijken. Het dorp stelt niet veel voor. Er is niks vooral rust. Op 4 kilometer heb je alles!! Prachtige omgeving! Wat ons betreft alles TOP!!

Tolle Unterkunft

Magali und Philippe sind fantastische Gastgeber, sehr hilfsbereit und mit tollen Tipps für Unternehmungen in der Umgebung.Die Ferienwohnung im liebevoll umgebauten alten Schuppen ist sehr gemütlich und toll ausgestattet. Die Betten sind sehr bequem. Das gesamte Areal ist sehr schön angelegt, der topp gepflegte Poolbereich mit Blick auf das alte Dörfchen und das Schloss runden alles ab.Eine wunderschöne Oase der Ruhe in der wir uns absolut wohl gefühlt haben. Wir werden wiederkommen.

Un séjour très agréable Bien situé, une qualité d’eau de piscine exceptionnelle Les hôtes sont d’une extrême gentillesse, très disponible sans être insistant La grange est sympa, seul petit bémol, c’est une climatisation mobile horriblement bruyante obligeant à couper le soir et du coup difficile de trouver le sommeil tant la chaleur est forte Pour info, nous étions en alerte canicule avec des températures de 49 degrés donc très exceptionnel malgré tout Sinon c’est une Region magnifique chargée d’histoire

Très bel endroit

Magnifique séjour chez Magali et Philippe. Ce gîte est rempli de charme, il dispose de tout ce dont vous avez besoin pour passer d'excellentes vacances. La vue sur le château de la piscine est exceptionnelle. Magali et Philippe sont adorables et sont de très bons conseils pour tous les endroits a visiter dans le coin. Nous y reviendrons avec plaisir.

Super sejour

Nous avons apprécié ce séjour dans la grange, au calme ! L’emplacement est idéal pour visiter la Dordogne, les alentours du logement sont magnifiques, et la piscine très agréable. Magali et Philippe sont extras, toujours aux petits soins. Nous avons passé une super semaine !

Séjour juste parfait! Accueil chaleureux de Magali et Philippe. Toujours disponibles pour de bons conseils ! Le gîte est très agréable, tranquillité absolue ! La piscine a fait le bonheur de notre fils (et du notre !) avec une vue juste magnifique sur le château ! « Le temps d’une pause » tellement attendue ! Merci !

prachtige plek, prima woning

de woning is ruim en prima gelegen. Het zwembad is heerlijk en er is genoeg schaduw onder de bomen. Bij het huis zelf kan het wel heel warm zijn. Er is een fijne parasol en in het huis heb je de airco. Vlakbij zijn er heerlijke plekken bij de rivier om lekker in de schaduw te genieten. De gastheer en gastvrouw Philippe en Magali zijn heel aardig en hebben goede tips. Philippe speekt perfect Engels. Kortom: heerlijk verblijf!

Merveilleuses vacances

Superbe gîte dans un écrin de verdure. Excellente situation â proximité de nombreux sites à visiter. Très bon accueil de la part des propriétaires qui sont également de très bon conseil pour les visites et les restaurants selon les goûts et les envies de chacun. A Recommander les yeux fermés.. Ces vacances resteront longtemps de nos souvenirs....merci Magalie et Philippe... 👍😃👌
