Half Round- A Quiet Mid-Century Modern Cabin

Unique mid-century modern "Half Round" cabin in the woods. Located in the iconic Coolfont Mountainside which consists of contemporary cabins on nearly 400 acres, and was founded as an amazing retreating community in 1969. Half Round has 3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms and a fully equipped kitchen. The open dining-living room area has soaring ceilings, 360-view fireplace and walls of glass looking out to the deck and woods beyond. The house is one level with ramp access to the front door and wrap-around deck, with seating and gas BBQ grill. The community in-ground heated pool and hot tub is open Memorial Day through Labor Day. (Year round indoor pool and hot tub available at nearby Coolfont Resort for $8pp/day.) Other community features include on-site hiking trails, tennis and basketball courts, rec field and tot-lot. The Berkeley Springs area of West Virginia is less than a two-hour drive from major metropolitan areas such as Washington, D.C. and Baltimore, Maryland. It is best known for its warm mineral springs and is famous for being the country’s first ‘spa’, frequented by Native Americans long before the first European settlers appeared. This part of West Virginia is rich in history and natural beauty, and draws thousands of visitors each year. Get ready to relax and make memories for a lifetime in this beautiful and cozy mid-century cabin.

Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.

July 4th Stay

Half Round was exactly what we were looking for to get away from the chaos and traffic of NOVA over the long holiday weekend. We spent as much time as possible on the shaded back porch enjoying the view of the woods, the sounds from the babbling brook and the cooler mountain air. The inside was just as comfortable and had everything we needed (and what we didn’t, a TV). Would absolutely come again.

Well-stocked and furnished with midcentury modern/Danish style furniture - set in a beautiful serene woodland. So much fun to stay in a house with interesting architecture. Convenient to the fun town of Berkeley Springs.

Stunning!

My husband and I stayed at the half round to celebrate our wedding anniversary and it was perfect. This cabin is stunning! The location is perfectly tucked away, we kept talking about how quiet and peaceful it was. We would love to stay again.

Great Weekend Retreat

Half-Round provided a wonderful quiet weekend retreat in a beautiful setting. Elissa was great in answering our many questions prior to arrival! We loved being so close to the TreeTops restaurant for several good dinners since the weather was frigid and snowy. One suggestion: if possible to install grab bars in the bathroom, handicapped guests would be safer while using the toilet and shower.

Beautiful and peaceful

We enjoyed a family girls’ weekend for my daughter’s birthday. We loved the beautiful wooded setting of this cabin. The outdoor space was amazing. Everything we needed was there - well stocked. Beds were comfortable. We felt like we were away from it all but still so close to everything.

Dog Friendly Treehouse in the Woods

We loved staying at Half Round with our dog! The property is well taken care of and is in a great neighborhood with lots of other cabins. Everything you could need for a stay is already there which made it so convenient! The keurig was a great touch and there was even tea!

Wonderful Mid-Century Modern Home

Lovely home- just the right size for our group of 3 couples. The mid- century decor and fireplace were a fun change from our homes. Very private with wonderful wooded views. The kitchen is well furnished and we enjoyed the coffee that was provided. Would definitely stay again.

Mid century cabin in a great location

My friends and I had a great time here for a weekend getaway. 2 hours from DC and in a wooded community with a beautiful outdoor pool. Short drive to a great brewery with unique drinks, and to the Berkeley Springs park area with many cute shops and coffeehouses. Large grill on the deck, kitchen was very clean. Host was super helpful also.

Everything about our stay was excellent. The house was extremely clean, the kitchen was well stocked, and the beds were very comfortable. We liked the quiet of the neighborhood. It was convenient to both Cacapon State Park and Berkeley Springs. Excellent communication with the hosts. A really cool and comfortable house. Would definitely stay here again.

Great place for a weekend get-a-way

Half Round is very lovely and very comfy! The fire place is so cool and we used it every evening and all day Sunday. The beds were great and it is so quiet there which added to the feeling of being away in the mountains. The view out the glass windows was beautiful. We took walks on the roads and trails and the quick access to the local brewery was nice for a lunch out. The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking all the rest of the meals and I particularly liked having a dishwasher for clean up. Check in was easy, communication with the host always quick and the instructions for check out were very clear and quick to accomplish. We had everything we needed for our stay. We recommend!

Great Location!

My family and I loved staying here! Very comfortable and clean house in a great wooded location, great views and very quiet. We stayed during the heat wave so the community pool was a great bonus for us. The house is very close and convenient to downtown Berkeley Springs (about a 10 minute drive) and Berkeley Springs Brewing Co was walkable from the house (great food and dog friendly!). There were also hiking trails right in the neighborhood. I highly recommend this place, we will definitely be coming back. I also loved that there were no TVs here, and there were plenty of board games and puzzles already at the house.

First get together since Covid started

Finally all vaccinated and got to spend a girl's weekend together! Property is perfect; cozy and fireplace worked beautifully. Walking distance to a brewery (bring a flashlight). Morning yoga watching the snow fall was a perfect way to wrap up a fun weekend.

A Blissful Retreat Under the Trees

I had a wonderful stay at this “little cabin in the woods.” The mid-century modern decor was inviting, and the windows across the back of the home were exactly what I wanted in a view. I stayed for two weeks and will return! The town of Berkeley Springs was welcoming; and I enjoyed shopping at the charming antique stores and fabulous art galleries in town. That said, my favorite spot was at the cabin—on the back deck—sitting under the trees watching the deer and woodpeckers.
