A nice stay in the nice hotel

We had a really nice stay at the Arcotel Velvet Berlin hotel. Everything went smoothly, our room was nice, bed comfy and the breakfast was tasty and the coffee too. The only thing we really missed was a small fridge. That would have been useful for us.

Great location. Comfy beds. Breakfast was decent, but the food was put out very slowly and cutlery was hard to find. Also one coffee machine is not enough. Teabags also weren't replaced.

Nice area with good communication around the city. Clean and ok rooms. Appreciated that we got a closed bathroom on request. The open bathrooms are really strange for us Scandinavians, and have not seen it earlier in Berlin, nor elsewhere in Europe or US. All in all a good stay in a ok hotel in a good location in Berlin.

The location is great, it's clean and rooms are decent size. However, the AC didn't work and the staff made no attempt at fixing it, said we should open the windows. The tub is old and worn down and the hair dryer is also old and not very useful showing poor maintenance.

Horrific service…

Too bad that the service here was sub par. Not only did they make grave mistakes (as giving the wrong room number) but also tried to dubble charge the city tax. Glad I kept the receipt… I would book somewhere else. The area is great.

Liked the large windows and the large room. Breakfast was good. However it was hot in Berlin and we had chosen the hotel because it had airconditioning (AC). The AC in the whole hotel was broken so our room was uncomfortable and noisy when the windows were open. We were not told about the AC when we booked in or we wouldnt have stayed. It was not fixed during our stay.

It's a great little hotel on a fantastic street. Shopping, sites, the river, everything are all walkable. Plus the trams and buses are super convenient. Close to museum island, government buildings, the river, Humboldt, and more.

The hotel was clean and very nice but no one tells you about the parking garage (if you use their parking). You get a key fob, they tell you to scan it and it will open the tiny one-door garage. Your car has to fit perfectly in the little tray and then the garage shuts and the car elevator goes all the way down to the basement. I wasn’t aware that my husband should not have been in the car as it was lowered. I panicked and had to call him back up with the fob, hoping he hadn’t opened any doors while he was down there. There are instructions in German but I’m American and the front desk agent didn’t explain the process to me. Thank God my husband wasn’t hurt down there.

Bathroom - another grab rail needed in bath/shower. Sink plug not working properly. Kettle - faulty on/off switch. Room - reasonable size, light and clean, but poor outlook. Breakfast area very crowded with limited seating - food fine.
