City Hotel Berlin East was conveniently located for our purposes. It was close to train stops making it easy to travel throughout Berlin. The staff were friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay at this hotel if I return to Berlin.

Staff pleasant always tried to help. On the 3rd and 4th day of our stay the airconditioning in the room stopped working. The front desk was supposed to send us a table fan. When we reminded them they said no fan was available. So we were in the heat for 48 hours. The hotel compensated by refunding what we paid for our breakfast. On the bright side, the hotel is close to the tram stop and shops. The restaurant in the hotel was nice. We had breakfast and dinner there.

The property is on the larger side, located in an Eastern suburb and seems popular with group bookings (swim teams from all over the world stayed there during my visit). I had one of the suits which had ample space but I was missing the little things that show appreciation or provide a bit of comfort - like a coffee maker in the room. For its size it was missing a proper bar, breakfast was fine but not extraordinary. The complex once had another restaurant which is no vacant. There are no bars/restaurants in the immediate vicinity, the area is residential with East German “Plattenbauten”. Two tram stops outside the hotel provide frequent services in any direction. The free public car park nearby is also a plus. Overall, a pleasant stay and the outer location is not a problem due to the good transport links. Lastly, however, the price level in the mini shop was outrageous for a hotel its class.

The parking is not included I wasn’t sure where the information is for that so just know you pay daily. The hot water was hard to manipulate, it went out once. The male staff were lacking in customer service except for the one gentleman that helped me when my room key would not work. Others were curt and one hung up on me. I put my do not disturb sign on the door the cleaning woman banged on the door EVERY ONE of the days I was there except the last. 5 days😂 It’s clean and convenient. Overall it wasn’t too bad.

City Hotel Berlin East is now run by the Holiday Inn which is located in the same building. You will not find ANY signs saying City Hotel Berlin East which is super confusing when you already don't know the area

Inside of our room was ok- it was warm, the style was alright and it seemed clean enough, however there were empty coke cans left in one of the shelves which were quite obvious and led us to be suspicious of how thoroughly they checked/cleaned everything. The safe didn’t work and we had booked a double bed but got twin single beds instead. The hallways/lift must’ve been in renovation but was still a bit dirty, and the lift didn’t work once or twice which was bad as we were on the 14th floor. The staff were a bit rude and due to miscommunication between them, they had chased us down about extending our checkout time even though another member told us something different. This was a bit unpleasant, and when we went down to pay the receptionist was rude/unfriendly (since apparently you needed to pay beforehand to extend your checkout time, but when we asked about it the day before and asked if we could pay then and there or at the end, we were told we could do it at the end and the person we had asked did not make a note of this conversation). Overall, the room fulfilled its purpose and we weren’t expecting much for a cheaper hotel in a city we were going to explore anyway. However, it didn’t really leave a good impression which in itself is neither here nor there with us, but we thought it was worth leaving a review about.

It's a holiday Inn. Could see nothing to show that is what this hotel is otherwise I would have booked somewhere else, The rooms were not soundproof. we were woke up multiple times in the night with people talking and banging, we were unable to change the temperature in the room so no heating in our control and the cleaners left the window open when it was 4 degrees outside for atleast half a day, the shower would suddenly turn boiling hot and would take ages for it to settle and change temperature. There was rust in the bathroom and a stain on a towel when we arrived.

Room stank like cigarettes. Clearly guests have smoked in the room, disregarding the no smoking policy. Otherwise, the room was fine. Regular cleaning and helpful reception staff.

We booked our stay through Expedia and the check in was super easy and quick. The friendly staff members was really helpful. The facilities of the room was good, it was big enough to be comfortable. Altough the walls are a bit thin and we could hear the neighboors cleary on one night. Overall we liked this hotel, highly likely we will book again when we are back to Berlin.
