Sun Filled Top Floor, Centrally Located Gem

About this space
Centrally-located along the U5 and a grand boulevard in former East Berlin, this light-filled one-bedroom is the heart-filled home of a local artist.
The space
The apartment is filled with light and warmth, located on the top floor, accessible by elevator. The building is historically significant and smacks of socialist luxury, with a bust of Karl Marx stood just outside. Unlike many offerings, this has been my full-time home, available only when I am out of town. The space is lovingly and intentionally curated with art, small treasures, and plant friends throughout. I carefully selected details when renovating in 2014, creating a homey but highly stylish habitat, with raw walls framed in black and white, smoked oak floorboards, and light switches that clack when you flip them. I've since added bright Moroccan carpets, deepening the texture and color here. I love and care for my home and hope you do, too!

The kitchen is stocked with cutlery, dishes, some spices and condiments to cook with, a gas stove, electric oven, espresso maker and electric water kettle, though no dishwasher. In the living room, a gorgeous blue pop of a table is available for eating and working. There's an iPod in the kitchen with a fun selection of music, in case you'd like something to cook or clean to.

Without a shower curtain in the bathroom, I've opted for baths or seated showers. Both a washing machine and dryer are available for your use. (Note that you push the dryer door to open it.) The bedroom is lush with plants and has a full-sized bed with linen sheets.

The U5 metro is just downstairs. Street parking is easy, and there are multiple ride-share options (bikes, scooters, cars) typically available right outside the building. When arriving, look for the Chinese restaurant, Hua Ting, downstairs to help you easily orient to the building.
Other things to note
The plants are very dear to us, so if you're not comfortable caring for them well during your stay, I can have someone come to check on them. If needed, you are expected to allow this person access at a time convenient to you both. Please communicate any feedback as soon as possible, so I can support your having a great experience in our home!
