The Bernau high valley, often described as the most beautiful of its kind in the southern Black Forest, stretches for 8 km at altitudes from 855 m to 925 m, with the impressive Herzogenhorn (1,415 m) nearby. The location offers numerous leisure opportunities all year round: well-marked hiking and cycling trails, mountain bike routes as well as winter sports with several lifts, cross-country ski trails, prepared winter hiking trails, toboggan run, snow tubing park and snowshoe hiking. Many restaurants invite you to take a break and Bernau is an ideal starting point to explore the Southern Black Forest Nature Park on foot, by car or by public transport.
