Overall, very nice. Upstairs beds uncomfortable and wish they had provided bath soap and a small amount of detergent, but otherwise lovely. Back deck lovely to sit and chat, cook on grill and enjoy view of lake and trees. Very clean and lives up to advertising. One missing essential- a cork screw!!
The house, and the location are perfect for a family getaway. The kids loved playing in the backyard, and the house has very authentic Big Bear charm. We loved it!

Pros and Cons
Pros: Beautiful lake view. Nice location near everything. 2-5 minute drive from most anything you'd want. Beds are comfortable and overall place was fairly clean. Definitely would've loved the patio furniture cleaned since SUPPOSEDLY they do a walk through the day you check in.
Cons: Quality of the home! Responsiveness of Service guys!
Ants were crawling in from a crack in the upstairs bedroom (kids room) wall. This was OBVIOUSLY a known issue since there was TISSUE stuffed in these cracks! I called in the issue as well as emailed, along with reporting SEVERAL windows that didn't work/open. 5.5 hours LATE service guy shows up with stuff that won't work! I told him I reported they were high on the wall and I believe Andrew took the call. Told me they'd bring sticky paper for the wall! The service guy brought us a box of ant poison meant to sit on the floor or flat surface! He said they never put any notes about them being on the wall in his service order. Sooo..NO resolve..
Then the next morning we were called to tell us they just saw a report the kitchen sink was leaking before we arrived. THAT'S what the smell was! We thought the people before us smoked in the house or something. I was assured they'd fix the sink AND the ants/wall on day 2. Sink was fixed, smell gone! But NOT the ants or the wall/tissue.
Also, the quality of the 2nd floor construction was scary. Plywood floors and doors. Thin spindles for the balcony. I definitely wouldn't feel safe with young kids up there!
All in all, wouldn't stay here again. Don't think I'd use this Destination Big bear company ever again either. Extremely disappointed in the amount of calls and emails I had to make and never did get problem resolved.
A family of five stayed for two nights on this lakefront property. The stay was mostly good—I will go over the few places for improvement. The house is small but was fine for a family with one kid, two parents and two grandparents but probably best for a family for five with two parents and five kids. The rooms with the twin beds upstairs are small but serve their purpose. The kitchen is fully equipped with tools but there really is no pantry so bring your spices and condiments. The view of the lake from the dining area was relaxing and there were no neighbors so the trip was very quiet. The walk to the lake was short and we were able to fish off the shore and caught rainbow fish. Some areas for improvement—there could be a doormat as you walk in from the lakeside porch; the coffeemaker was not the easiest to turn on; there could be another sofa instead of two armchairs (or the armchairs could use ottomans); the upstairs bannister didn't seem the sturdiest (we didn't have any problems though); the fireplace is quite small and the house could use updated fireplace tools. Overall, our stay was pleasant and enjoyable.
The location is great, waking up on the lake is amazing. But unfortunately this cabin is not well kept at all. The hot water doesn’t lastin the shower, we were a party of 5 and two of us had to take cold showers. We even waited a hour and the water wouldn’t heat up. We stayed two nights and it took till the last day for the heater in the cabin to heat up the place. All the dishes were dirty with food on them. For the price I don’t believe it be, Up to par. If your not going to be in the cabin that much it’s in a great location close to the downtown area. I personally probably won’t stay here again. But it was decent for our short trip.
Pros: Amazing yard, beautiful view of lake, small slope for kids sledding. Back patio is great. Beds were comfortable. The location and yard made this house 100% worth it and we’re so glad we were able to stay here! Easy to set up internet and tv. Easy to cook in the kitchen. Very clean. Highly recommend.
Cons: Some missing amenities (not all bathrooms had hand soap, no potholders and not enough towels for hand-washing dishes in the kitchen). The carbon monoxide detector was beeping every minute, in need of new batteries. We alerted the management company within 5 min of walking in the door, no one ever came to address it. These were minor inconveniences and we would still highly recommend this quaint cabin!
The place we rented was of good size, great view. Would have liked a better spot to fish, because the home doesnt have it's own dock access and the shoreline is a bit riddled with underwater plant life. Loved the closeness to The Village & the Marina. We rented a boat there and that was great. We would rent from Destination Big Bear again, but we'd explore another location in a different spot maybe.
