About this property
Moonlit Hearth & Hickory | Ski-In/Out + Hot Tub
Ski out the garage, ski home to the hot tub. Moonlit Hearth and Hickory is a true ski-in/ski-out retreat in Moonlight Basin's Cowboy Heaven neighborhood, with direct trail access to Moonlight Basin and Big Sky Resort right from the end of the road. The home has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms and sleeps 13, with two stacked stone fireplaces and a private hot tub. It's made for families and groups who want first chair in the morning, fresh tracks all day, and a fireside evening without ever getting in the car.
No shuttles, no parking lots, no hauling gear. Clip in, exit through the garage, and the Natawista ski access trail is waiting at the end of Mountain Home Road. From there, ski to the Iron Horse lift via Moonlight Lodge for access to Big Sky Resort's terrain, or cruise down to the Madison Base Area, where direct access to the Ski School makes morning lessons a breeze for the kids. When the day winds down, ski back from the Iron Horse, Six Shooter, or Pony Express lifts and glide right down the road to your home. Once you arrive and unload the groceries, the car can stay parked for the rest of the week. Spend your days skiing everywhere, then your evenings cooking dinner together in the cabin and soaking in the private hot tub under the stars, just a few steps from where you kick off your boots.
The great room is the heart of the home. Vaulted ceilings rise above a floor-to-ceiling stacked stone wood-burning fireplace with a hand-hewn timber mantel. Tall windows frame snow-covered pines and open onto the deck. Leather club chairs, a plush sofa, wide plank hardwood floors, and a custom log staircase give the home a classic Montana mountain feel, with western art and a few playful touches throughout.
The kitchen has warm knotty alder cabinetry, granite countertops, a pressed tin backsplash, and stainless-steel appliances, including a gas range. Hickory log stools line the kitchen bar for 4, and the dining table seats 6 beneath a pine tree chandelier, the perfect spot to trade stories about the day's best runs.
Big Sky Resort's Mountain Village and Lake Levinsky are roughly 10 minutes away by car. Town Center is about 20 minutes away by car with shopping, dining, and summer concerts in the park.
The Beehive Basin Trailhead is just 2.1 miles away and leads to one of the area's most popular alpine hikes. Mountain biking, fly fishing on the Gallatin River, and day trips to Yellowstone National Park round out a summer stay.

Good to Know: Ski Access Season
Access lift start dates vary but typically fall in early to mid-December. Access lifts may close before Big Sky Resort's closing day depending on snow conditions. Ski-in/ski-out access is not available before the access lifts open or after they close.
Ski Out
Exit through the garage and turn right to the Natawista ski access trail, which connects at the end of the road. Go left down the trail until it splits into a "Y."
To reach Moonlight Lodge, Iron Horse, and Big Sky Resort: go straight on Bootlegger, then follow the signs to Moonlight Lodge. To reach the Madison Base Area: go left on Natawista, veer left over the bridge to Drover Trail, then take Cinnabar to Madison Base at Moonlight Basin.
Ski In
From the top of the Iron Horse or Six Shooter lifts: follow signs to Cinnabar, then Natawista, and back to the house. From the top of the Pony Express lift: cross the Powder River run and go under the ski bridge to Natawista.
The end of Mountain Home Road will be on your left. Ski down the road to your home.
