impressive hotel in beautiful countryside, but not luxury and the bathrooms (and furnishings) are in need of updating. Example is shower head on flexible pipe half way up body on the wall in bath tub and no curtain or glass screen. Our room (12) was big and spacious and nice bed. Food in the hotel was very expensive (30-60 Euros for dinner per person), and breakfast at 15EU per person for a cold typical French bread and jam and cold meat)... very nice staff.

I wasn’t told until arriving that the restaurant was closed. The nearest alternative was 15 minutes drive. The bar closed at 8 pm when all the staff (1) went home. A beautiful venue but I won’t go back until they get their act together.

This is a lovely chateau with traditional décor. Our room was large and comfortable with lovely views across the countryside. Our dinner in their restaurant was excellent. The only slight negative was our WiFi was intermittent and kept dropping out.

Château de la Côte is a fairytale
What a wonderful place Hotel Château de la Côte is, truly magical and fairytale. The food is an absolute must during your stay! The reception and service is fabulous from the Guillaume family. The pool is an oasis on a hot summers day. We stayed in room 23 which is the turret without a roof and gave us access to outside space - we’d always wanted to stay in a Château and in a turret and this did not disappoint.

Our stay was amazing! The chateau, the gardens, our bedroom were all incredible. The staff was also very helpfull. We loved it so much that we decided to stay another night!

A wonderful setting in an old chateau. However, our room was very worn out and could definitely need a renovation. The beds and pillows were ok, but the quilt was an awful old blanket with a simple sheet. Breakfast was fine and so was dinner.

Lots of potential, but somewhat run down and all meals/drinks priced to reflect no nearby restaurant alternatives. Nice to say that you’ve spent a single night in a chateau, and the location is glorious, but wouldn’t want to stay longer.

Beautiful setting, magnificent building! Cleanliness not great: dead bugs in the staircase for our whole stay of 3 nights. Bedding threadbare: my foot got stuck in the holes in the sheets. Furniture adequate but not luxurious. Bathroom equipped to fairly low standard: for instance shower above the bath but no shower curtain or screen so you had to crouch..... Firealarm went off at 1 am: no staff inside to guide us out. No staff outside to check us in and out. The door to reception was closed and locked. telephone calls to the hotel were routed to voicemail. The alarm stopped after 20 minutes or so. Eventually we trooped back inside after ¾ hour but didn't feel very safe. We knew one lady had impaired mobility but we didn't see her outside. Upon enquiry the next day we were told that the owner had checked the surroundings for signs of a fire then shut down the alarm - but none of the assembled guests outside saw him. Thank goodness there had not been a real fire!

cher Monsieur, nous vous remercions pour ces informations et sommes ravis que vous ayez passe un agréable séjour en Dordogne dans notre château du 15éme siècle situé au cœur de la campagne vallonnée du Perigord vert. Vous nous avez confie avoir diner de très bons petits plats sur la terrasse chaque soir, peut etre avez vous remarque notre environnement naturel ,classée réserve ornithologique de la région nouvelle aquitaine . Alors bien que les services veillent au bon entretien de nos locaux, la porte d'entree de la cage d'escalier restant ouverte, et il se peut que des insectes en profitent pour rentrer.. Nous ne souhaitons pas aseptiser avec des pesticides. Notre système de détection incendie Chubb est programmé a sonner 3 min et s'arrête automatiquement, l'emplacement indiquait une zone (un couloir)avec une odeur de cigaretes que j’ai pu sentir bien que cela soit prohibe. vous avez pu observer a votre départ que le réarmement de la centrale incendie n'est pas automatique et donc qu’un membre du personnel etait bien évidement présent. Nous esperons malgres le declenchement de cette sirène que vous conserverez un bon souvenir de vos vacances Au plaisir de vous accueillir une prochaine fois La direction

Loved the Chateaux. My room in annex was fine, very hot though. A.C would have been nice. Restaurant was very nice, enjoyed my meal. Had to leave before breakfast started which was a shame.

It was a very neat experience to stay in a castle that was built in the 15th century! The bathroom had been remodeled in one of the tower rooms . There was plenty of heat to keep the rooms warm and their restaurant served delicious food! The owner, Oliviier, was very friendly and helpful. It was a good experience and the prices were reasonable.

Enchanting Chateau
As soon as we entered the Drive of the Chateau de La Cote we were taken back by its Medieval sight. Check in was swift and efficient. The Bedroom or what appears as a suite amazed us. It was very very spacious and light and airy. We even had a walk in dressing area. The Bathroom was a of an immense size. Our suite was immaculately clean and ever so inviting. The facilities were modern and yet the refurbishment kept most of the ancient features. The whole place was so clean with helpful staff willing to make your stay memorable. We had a really delicious dinner and the service was very attentive. We immensely enjoyed the experience and will definitely return whilst on our travel.

Not a great choice overall. No A/C. No coffee/tea in room or any way to boil water. Wi-Fi was poor unless you were at main building. Breakfast was expensive so found something on the road when we left. Nice location but suggest looking elsewhere.

A million stars
This is one of the *best* hotel experiences I've ever had. The chateau looks exactly like it does in photos: spectacular. The staff are wonderful and go out of their way to help with anything. The meals are all out of this world - try the beef fillet! - and local wines are exceptional. Room was great & had everything, including a view onto the green rolling hills. Cannot rate this place highly enough.

A beautiful chateau experience
We actually stayed in the gatehouse looking up at the chateau. Very comfortable, clean and warm. No tea/coffee making (normal in France). Restaurant food very good, may seem a little expensive especially breakfast. Service in all areas excellent.

Great scenery location. Staff friendly and helpful. However there were a few minor matters that were a little inconvenient such as no iron when asked at reception. No lemonade only a fizzy lemon drink which wasnt ideal with a spirit and could not buy wine by the glass only bottles which made me and my partner drive to a nearby town for a few drinks when we wanted to stay in the beautiful surroundings of the chateau.

A warm welcome and a great place to relax
If you are looking for a pristine hotel environment, the Château de la Côte may not be for you. But if you are looking for a warm welcome and a unique, historic atmosphere, then I recommend it wholeheartedly. Views from the Chateâu are of trees and rolling fields. There was no pressure at all to eat dinner in the hotel restaurant (60€/head for three courses). Breakfast was simple (14€/head) but all buffet items were put out in small batches, ensuring bread was warm and cheese, meats etc. were always cool. Brantôme is less than 10 miles away with stunning riverside scenes and many restaurant choices for lunch or dinner. I definitely plan to return to the Château de la Côte and I hope to stay more than one night next time I visit.

16th century chateau in Perigord
A nice respite from a month of camping nearby. Enjoyed the restaurant and the pool. A nice stop if you're staying near Biras.

Truly amazing Chateau... Lovely change from modern hotels even though fewer creature comforts (we had a bath with just a hand shower. No tea or coffee making facilities) The food was superb. Loved it.

We were at the Chateau for a wedding and the weekend was absolutely fabulous. The accommodations were like nothing we had ever experienced before and the staff was very welcoming and nice. The area is beautiful!

Stay in a Chateau!
Without a doubt, our stay at Chateau de la Cote was wonderful. Staff was gracious and efficient. The staff member who welcomed us gave us a full intro to the hotel and amenities. We were upgraded to a beautiful spacious room since the hotel was not fully booked. The pool was lovely. We also had dinner on the terrace and it was well worth it. Lovely location and very close to canal town of Brantome.

This is a wonderful place to stay.
The grounds are beautiful, the staff was charming and helpful. Definitely would stay there again. It's a little more remote, but we had no trouble finding it because there were plenty of signs pointing the way. Don't forget your bathing suit and make sure you have dinner there at least once.

Perhaps the best hotel I have stayed at in my life. An exquisite chateau in bucolic countryside near the lovely town of Brantome. Outstanding service and food and spectacular ambience, and VERY reasonably priced.

Magical, wonderful stay chateau de la cote
We booked for one night at the chateau de la cote and the experience surpassed our expectations. The castle is beautiful, the grounds well kept, the vue is incredible wherever you look, the people/staff were friendly, and efficient. We were upgraded to two large connecting rooms very spacious, tasteful furniture.. Bathroom was clean and Contemporay We also stayed for dinner and had an excellent meal on the terrasse. The pool was also relaxing after a long day driving..

Enjoyed our 2 night stay at the chateau. Beautiful and scenic surrounds, lovely big room and big bathroom. Restaurant on site quite expensive & slow (but nice) and they prohibit food and drink in the rooms. Nearby Brantome and Perigueux nice little towns with plenty of cafes and restaurants. We did a day trip to Bordeaux from here easily. Wifi not free. Our Tomtom took us to the wrong spot too, ensure you search first for Biras then La Cote!

A step back in time
The hotel/chateau is impressive, standing within extensive grounds on the top of a hill, complete with round turrets and fortifications. Inside, the owners have done their best to match tasteful restoration with modern amenities. Some may not appreciate the 19th Century furnishings, the odd draught of cold air and creaking boards, but the old world charm of the building, the wide corridors, extensive views of empty countryside from every window and total quiet are its undeniable attractions. Breakfast, the only meal we took, was excellent and the service prompt and courteous.

Château de La Côte - an overnight stay
Beautifully located in the Dordogne countryside - its a wonderful sight as you drive up the long drive way. Furnishings could be modernised a little (I understand its a 600 year Chateau) but our stand alone wardrobe was massively past its best days. A small bar fridge would be a nice touch. The management and reception team were excellent and very engaging. However the Maitre'd in the restaurant clearly takes herself too seriously and does not fully understand she is there to make the guests feel welcomed and important. We were told to have a champagne and wait in the library - ok, pre-dinner drink, nice...but to forget us and leave us in there for at least 45mins was not to our standard. In the end I had to go back to the restaurant and claim a table as opposed to being guided to a table. Its a small thing, but these are the 1% things you must get right all the time. 3 hours for a dinner course comprising 4 simple plates (for my wife and I) was a little irritating, especially after our meals were mixed up with other guests even though there were only 3 tables of guests in the room by this late hour. After a 550klm drive, a nice meal and wine/beer was all I was craving at 6:30pm - but having to go through the 4 or 5 course selection, we finished our meals (they were -very good) at 10.20pm!!! The isolation is one of the reasons why you pick this place, it really is gorgeous. Bring a bottle of Red, baguette of salad and ham if you are tired of the restauarant scene and just sit outside watching the countryside.

Nous avons passé un bon séjour. Le château est beau ainsi que le parc et la piscine. Le petit déjeuner est copieux avec de bons produits. Nous avons dîner un soir, c'était très bon. Accueil sympathique et personnel agréable.

Una experiencia fabulosa de poder hospedarse en un lugar tan fabuloso, fantástico. La atención es espectacular, muy atentos todos, el restaurante ofrece excelentes platitos de cocina francesa con productos frescos de la región. Pasear por los jardines es encantador.
