Winter Getaway
Donna's place was great. Felt secluded, yet close to things needed. The fireplace was fantastic, as well as having access to the snowshoeing gear to enjoy the trails behind the house. Responsive and detailed communication, and smooth check-in and out processes.

Great Snowy Weekend Getaway
Great little place in the mountains for our snowy weekend. We booked this place over the MLK holiday weekend and was anticipating nearly 8-12" of snow. The owners were both very responsive during 0 degree hot water issues. It was the most picturesque snowy weekend near the cozy warm woodburning stove. We used the house snowshoes to romp around the snow. We had great memories in this place and would love to visit again!

This cabin was the perfect quiet getaway! My partner and I needed a break from work and regular life, and this lovely spot in the mountains was a great choice. The internet may have been slower than we’re used to, but it worked fine for being way out in the woods. The views were gorgeous, and an easy drive into Nederland - such friendly people - gave us access to any supplies we needed. We’d definitely come back to Dancing Bear, and happily recommend it to friends!

We really enjoyed our stay. The cabin was neat and clean and provided a great base for our adventure in Colorado. The host was responsive but not intrusive. We would stay again for sure. We loved seeing the Moose mom with her calf several times in the community.

Mountain Get Away
I normally don't write reviews or surveys but in this case I need to chime in. The cabin was very clean with a great location. It exceeded my exceptions by far. The hosts are some of the nicest folks I have ever had the pleasure to speak with. One of the best vacations I have ever had and the cabin was just so nice. If you are wanting to stay somewhere in the mountains and you do not give this place a try-I think you made a mistake. I hope to go back again !

We can’t wait to return
Spending 4-5 days at Bear Cabin each summer has become a family tradition, one that we look forward to throughout the year. The location is perfect—hiking trails from the back yard, short distance from Golden Gate Canyon Park, many other wonderful hiking trails, and close enough to Nederland for a trip into town. The cabin is well appointed and welcoming and the host is always responsive. Frankly, I just can’t say enough good things about Bear Cabin. We love it!!

Great cabin the woods!
The cabin was great! It's location was nice and private. There is plenty of room in the cabin as well. It was great enjoying coffee on the front deck or on the picnic table in the back in the morning. We traveled to Nederland, Boulder and Golden while we were staying. We would definitely stay here again!

Perfect quick getaway
All-around great experience! The location is great, cabin is quaint but not too rustic and the owner was very friendly and helpful. We had an unexpected issue with the dates and Donna worked with us to resolve it, which really appreciate. The only downside is that given the size of the cabin and the tasks you’re asked to complete before leaving, the cleaning fee seems excessive. But it was broken out in the upfront fees so it wasn’t a surprise.

This was a beautiful and well appointed home in a very beautiful and convenient location for us. Donna was quickly responsive at check in when I forgot the instructions! Beautiful cabin that was larger than appeared in the pictures. Lots of information about the surrounding area was provided. We were blessed to have stayed here.

119 is pretty, mellow drive. Mild to Med grade, 8,500 ft. Some hard dirt road. Kit update. New/ish floor, paint, lights, windows, sliders, drapes, bed, bedding. Sm BR hard bed, slider to back, TV. Big BR warm pillowtop; walk through to big den w/ pullout, TV, slider to deck. Has everything. Cameras and close, loudish cabins.

Cozy Cabin next to a big forest.
My Family had a great stay in this friendly cabin. Woods and trails right out back. Hummingbirds, rabbits, and chipmunks love the place. We even saw a moose. Great time, we would do it again.

Our Favorite Home Away From Home
We love Dancing Bear cabin!! The cabin has everything you could need, it’s cozy yet spacious, and the location can’t be beat. Donna is an incredible host and we are so glad we found this gem. This was our third time staying here and we can’t wait to come back! My favorite part about this place: the back yard opens onto a national Forest with great trails!

The owner will watch you be naked on camera so will the neighbor we have a civil lawsuit and charges pending against the neighbor who I filed with the sheriff also don’t start a fire because they’ll call it in and view you on the cameras and lie to the police department and then you’ll have to get the police department records from the sheriff like I did and file a lawsuit like I did …..see you guys in court 👋 👋

Facts seems to be grossly distorted. Safety of our guests, our family cabin, and the national forest surrounding it are a top priority. Security cameras are placed with view to the external perimeter only. Disclosure of the outside cameras is clear and documented. All security cameras are placed within plain view. The security system is motion activated and rarely monitored. This is a small community. Neighbors look out for one another and for the safety of the properties and the national forest, along with their homes. To protect the beauty of the forest and the cabin, the decision was made by the owner to dismantle the fire pit during this high wind season. Numerous House Rules clearly documented through Vrbo were violated. House Rules: No Guests of Guests, No Party’s, No Events and other violations are clearly stated, we're blatantly ignored. Rules set forth by Gilpin County regarding Short Term Rentals were also violated, jeopardizing our license. No criminal complaint has ever been located with Gilpin County Sheriffs Department. No service notices of any legal actions of any type have been made except through malicious threats.

Lovely cabin in the woods!
Our small family really enjoyed staying at this cabin. There was a horseshoe pit and swings to keep my 10 yr old occupied outside. We also enjoyed just exploring the wilderness right out back. It was a very comfortable cabin and we hope to visit again when the weather is warmer.

Perfect weekend getaway
Thanks so much for hosting us! The cabin was perfect for the three of us. It had everything we needed to prepare meals and stay warm. The property is only a 15 minute drive to the casinos in Black Hawk, we really enjoyed having both the secluded nature feel as well as being close. Also very close to some great hiking :)

Hopefully, next time you'll get. a chance top visit one of the many restaurants, and or spa's there. Also, if you north from the cabin, about the same distance you'll find a little town called Nederland.

Beautiful Cabin, Great Location
We had a fantastic stay at the Dancing Bear Cabin celebrating Thanksgiving with our daughters who live in Denver. The cabin was a convenient hour drive from Denver. The cabin is beautifully decorated and very clean. Anything a person could want for is supplied. We enjoyed the warmth of the wood burning stove with wood provided by the owners. Donna was responsive and quick to answer our questions. She went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed. We also enjoyed the beautiful hiking trails right out back of the property. We would definitely stay here again!

This cabin was even more than I expected. The pictures don't do it justice. Very clean, easily accessible, full kitchen, cozy rooms, great outdoor space, easy check-in/out. I would definitely love to come back during the summer too! Only regret...that I couldn't stay longer!

Fantastic home and grounds!

A relaxing week in the mountains
This was our second visit to Dancing Bear Cabin. Aside from a mix-up with the door code which was quickly resolved with a phone call to the owner, our stay was everything we expected. We always enjoy a short morning hike and coffee and hummingbird time on the deck. The cabin is modern yet just rustic enough. We will be back!

Lovely Family Getaway
We had such a great stay at Dancing Bear! The home was well equipped for all of our needs and very comfortable. There was plenty of space indoors and out for us to enjoy. Happy hikes and family fun time!
This property was an amazing place for my family and two dogs to acclimate to higher elevation. We loved the ease of trails outside the back patio with access to a lovely creek! A Perfect Mountain Getaway
We enjoyed another wonderful time at Dancing Bear! The home is lovely and spacious and the backyard is a national forest with plenty of trails. The cabin is also close to Golden Gate Canyon Sate Park and a short drive to Nederland. Bonus points for the swings and children’s house in the yard. This place is a true gem.

Great getaway in the mountains near Nederland
The cabin was larger than the photos can display. The owners have created a well-appointed remodel of an older cabin tucked in an area where other cabins are visible through the trees yet spaced in order to provide privacy and quiet. Clean, comfortable beds, and new furnishings are mixed with some antique pieces. There are areas outdoors to eat on the deck or under the shade of trees and relax. The trails through the National Forest are not marked, but one can find the “loop” by wandering around.....right out the back of the cabin. We would definitely stay here again.

My favorite thing about this cabin was that it included everything mentioned in the posting, nothing missing as sometimes happens with properties. My second favorite thing was the woodburning stove - with firewood provided! The cabin felt bigger than we'd thought it would be from the photos, and our family of family of four and two dogs had a great time there. It was very comfy and cozy feeling but with a lot of modern tech conveniences (wifi, Alexa, big TVs, etc.). Our 5-year-old had lots of fun on the two tree swings and in the playhouses. The weather was really warm during our early-spring stay, so we spent a lot of time relaxing outdoors in the backyard and on the front deck watching the snow melt.

Make sure you have 4 wheel drive to get there. Once you get there it is lovely and peaceful. The kids had a great time playing in the snow and watching for wildlife! Definitely going to stay here again.

Thank you so much for your amazing review. We do recommend all wheel, or four wheel drive to all guests arriving during snow season. It's not always needed, but good to have in case of a big storm. I don't remember the last time we had this much snow in the area. We're at 100% for the year.

Wonderful stay at Dancing Bear!
We absolutely loved our time at the Dancing Bear cabin. The cabin was much more spacious than I was expecting, and was very clean. Donna was incredibly accommodating and quick to respond. The kitchen had everything we needed for our long weekend away- pots, pans, spatulas, utensils, dishes, wine glasses, coffee and more! There were some games and books to read, and we all loved the wood burning stove (and plenty of firewood was provided by our hosts). It was a very cold weekend while we were there, but when it was warm enough we enjoyed playing outside on the swings and toy house as well as using the sleds and snow shoes they provided. We would definitely come back! Thanks for such a lovely stay!

Secluded, relaxing cabin
My wife, myself, and our two elementary-age daughters had a restful weekend at the cabin. We enjoyed the secluded location and exceptional privacy, and the cabin had the amenities we needed to make our own meals and to be comfortable. We live in Denver and appreciated that it was within easy driving distance of the city to drive up to the cabin after work. The hosts were very responsive to our emails. Prior to booking our reservation, I saw a user comment from last May that was concerned about a security camera on the front porch-- however, my family and I didn't even notice it; it wasn't a concern. Looking forward to returning.

And yes, we do have security cameras outside to make sure that guests arrive to the cabin and are able to get in, they are then turned off upon arrival and not reactivated util after departure time. The cameras have been a great help when it comes to knowing how much snow we have, when our housekeepers arrive and to watch the bears try to get into the bear dumpster...watching the bears is actually the best part:-)

This property was the best. It was far enough to make you feel away from the city but just a 15 minute drive to the casinos. Our children enjoyed the snow and the older kids loved keeping the fire going in the fireplace. Donna provided the wood for us. I would definitely recommend this little hideaway for anyone with or without children.

What a wonderful first family experience! It was a beautiful area! This cabin was an absolute treasure! We loved every minute of it! We hope to stay again!
