Beautiful spot! Serene, peaceful and calming. The owners/host (Jake) were so accommodating and friendly. The house was perfect for our needs. Exceptionally clean. Comfortable for everyone, great amenities for in house cooking, and to our surprise river tubing on site!!! Our grandson is a new corps cadet at VT …this was the perfect place to re-set for all of us.Plan to return in October.Kudos to the Moody family for getting this home and their camp site ready in quick order after Hurricane Helene. You can feel their love and respect for the area that is home to them.We appreciate their conversation and kindnesses…looking forward to future visits.
We had to move two Hokies, one out and one in to a BB townhouse. Having stayed at the Little Blue Cottage in the winter 2021 to take our Hokie skiing at Winterplace, we knew this house would be ideal for a multi day stay and a place to park our trailer and once done moving, tube the New River at the New River Junction campground next store. We had so much fun and the cottage is ideal. Comfortable beds and plenty of space. The scenery is lovely and we enjoyed watching the egrets over morning coffee on the small deck. It was so much fun and we look forward to staying next year and perhaps have more time to relax.

We had a great stay and the Host was very accommodating. The home was recently remodeled and the scenery was breath taking. Absolutely loved the fact we could bring our fur babies with us!! We would love to come back when it is warmer so we could do some tubing!
Jake the host was very responsive and seemed to be very nice and told us if we needed anything let him know The house was updated with very nice appliances and furniture all in all it was a very wonderful stay for us I would recommend this place
Jake (Host) was very responsive and friendly throughout our stay. The property is tucked away in a stunning, private rural setting—beside a rivermountains (and train tracks). We had no cell service with our provider and were grateful for the guest wifi. The house was clean, furnished, and the kitchen was well equipped. The place worked well for my wife and 3 dogs. The dogs loved the huge front and backyard. The plumping appears to be well water and has a sulfur smell, we brought bottle of waters to help. We enjoyed our visit and appreciate the accommodations.
Amazing location on The New River with easy access to the water for kayaking and canoeing. Very clean home, appliances are brand new and kitchen is very well appointed. Fire pit, outdoor table, and gas grill made for very enjoyable evenings. Host communication was well above average, very helpful and friendly.
We had a great time at this rental. Perfect for our family and two dogs. The owners were very accommodating, brought us firewood for the fire pit and recommended a terrific restaurant for dinner, The Palisades. We would definitely stay here again and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to others.
Great stay with Jake. He let us know we could check in early if we wanted and he had the driveway plowed after (the first wave of) the winter storm. He brought us 2 packs of wood for the fireplace after I said we'd like to use it. He was very laid back and made checkout very easy. He accommodated us easily when I asked him if it would be a problem for us to stay less than 45 minutes after the listed checkout time. We enjoyed the couches and the place had everything we needed. My wife really enjoyed the view and warming herself by the fire. I will convey that, though not a deal-breaker, we noticed a string smell of sulfur when we turned on the shower. Jake says that's what the ground water in that area smells like and I still drank the water there, but some might want to know this in advance.
As advertised, on the river in a rural area, pretty views of river and hills, brand new interior, appliances and towels/sheets, also relatively close to Virginia Tech considering it was graduation. As it was May and on river, bring bug spray and be on the lookout but other than that, worked for us!
Spent 4 days fishing the New River and enjoying fun evenings around the camp fire. Beautiful Location right on the New RIver. Jake, the host, was a great guy, made you feel welcome and right at home. We will be back next year!

No WiFi at all, no phone signal. Hard to communicate if you have students at VT. Closest restaurant/gas/wifi signal is about 10 minutes driving. Water is well and it smells like sulfur, we had to brush our teeth with bottle of waters. Beautiful river and mountain view. Open backyard.
The property was perfect. The river was fast but perfect for tubing or kayaking (bracelet for shuttle at the nrj main property next door) ! Fishing is good if you go before its too hot or late in the evening (summer months). My son caught several bass & a 27" catfish! Firewood, on delivery! Perfect little snack shop with ice next door. Pots & pans in the kitchen you would buy ( not beat up from the dollar store). Tbh, the mattresses were a lil stiff but the couch recliners & throw fuzzy blankets were fought over. There is a sulfur smell to the well water especially when you use hot water. But it doesnt leave a taste on the dishes or smell on the laundry; its "country water". Took the dogs and my adult kids for a multi-day vaycay and made memories to last a life time! Loved playing in the water, fishing, bocce ball, grilling out and just good old fashioned fun. Thank you! 12 out of 10 recommend
Quite, Relaxing, and perfect for a family get together
The property owners were very nice and responsive. I rented this property to host my family Christmas. The temperatures were in the single digits. They made sure we had extra blankets, fire wood, heaters, and made us some delicious cookies.

Lovely Riverfront
The home seems to be in the process of being upgraded. Sleeping conditions weren't great...there is not actually room for 6 adults, and the beds weren't great. We appreciated both the outdoor firepit and the indoor fireplace. Wonderful waterfront location about 20 minutes from downtown BB. Host was friendly and responsive
Gorgeous scenery!! On New River and way from the busy life. There’s no Wi-Fi or cable so kids will learn the definition of family time!!! There are movies and board games which we enjoyed. Our dogs came with us which was extra special. Great communication with the owner Jake. He was also very accommodating!
Jake was a perfect host. The Blue House is nice & clean as well as being right on an excellent section of the New River for smallmouth wading. Perfect place to play, rent tubes and kayaks, and enjoy the beautiful New River. Jake recommended a local guide, Tangent Outfitters, and they hooked me up with a great day-long fishing raft trip. I returned to stay again about three days after checking out, which is the best review I could leave.
Excellent location. Nice river access in back yard. Owner communication was great, quick to respond and checked in a few times to see if we needed anything. Will definitely be back!!
My son is a medical resident in Blacksburg and couldn’t come home so we decided to spend Christmas with him. The house sits right on the New River. Gorgeous view. We had several indoor fires though there was a fire pit too. The owner brought us some wood and we were thrilled. Perfect for a weekend with your mate, or a girls trip.
We rented this cabin while in Blacksburg for the VT vs ND game. It's about 15 miles from campus and it provided a peaceful get away. It's modest and functional. Had it not been raining a fire in the fire pit would have been perfect with the river flowing in the background. Only downside was my phone service (T mobile) didn't work well there Nad made communicating with others on gameday a little challenging. Also , no wifi or cable channels. Which is fine, but know that going in.
We had such a great getaway weekend, the property was clean, staff was all incredibly nice and helpful and the view was to die for!! Would highly recommend and we will definitely be returning!!
We had a great time staying in the blue house. We were moving a kid into Tech so coming back to relax by the river was amazing after a long day. Jake was a great host and always available if we needed something. Would definitely return!!!
