"Fine place for our time there, for the price. Not too much at breakfast but there was a place open next door. Packwood is about the awesome places you go from there, not Packwood itself.
Note to the management: do something with the old car by the staircase. That became the subject of many inside jokes on our trip. We didn’t mind it, but it’s just not a good look"
"The place was clean and in good condition. Beds were comfortable, which is very important to my wife. Laundry washer and dryer available in the house. Updated kitchen appliances. They made the effort to groom the vegetation along the walkway to the lovely fire pit out back. We used it as our base camp for exploring Mt. Rainier, both Paradise and Sunset portions of the park. A bit of a drive to each location, but tolerable. My wife and I both liked the small town of Packwood quite a bit. Packwood has more amenities and options than Ashford on the west side of the park. The only disappointment was the hot tub isn’t working, but we made the owner aware and he said he would get it repaired soon. We would stay here again and recommend it."
"Location can’t be beat for a couple days spent around Rainier. Room was a little musty smelling upon arrival, but did air out decently with the AC on and window open for the afternoon. Also there was no functioning light above the tub / toilet area, admittedly I didn’t notice until after front desk hours and wasn’t able to ask for assistance. Overall was fine for the price paid given the peak season."
"Staff is great! Overall would recommend! Lovely town too!
The beds were not comfy but that is always a personal thing.
The AC was really noisy and startling when it kicked on."
"Old motel was revitalized for today’s travelers on a budget. It’s on a busy road so we did have road noise, but it had all the essentials of a cabin-style stay. We walked next door to the speakeasy Irish pub for dinner and a drink and an awesome piece of chocolate cake before calling it a day. Friendly owners run the whole property."
Cozy St. Helen's Cabin is Pet-friendly, Hot tub, AC, WIFI, Seasonal River Access
8/10 Good
"The property was perfect for 3 adults and 2 kids. Quiet. Clean. Not an easy trek to the Cowlitz River. The stairs to the loft are not for senior citizens. No shoes inside so I suggest bringing some comfy slippers. My feet hurt after three days on the hard (attractive) floor. We alerted the owners that the hot tub only got up to 94 so I’m sure that is fixed now. Bring essential ingredients for cooking. There were salt and pepper and that was it. There was coffee. Nice towels and comfy beds. The owners seem very easy going. No hassles. Not a lot of frills but relaxing and away from the hustle and bustle of life. I recommend this cabin."
Cozy Packwood Ski Cabin near White Pass and Mt Rainier
8/10 Good
"Outside is "rustic" but inside was really nice. Firepit needs re-doing and a railing for the steps. I am an older gal.
Very quiet area. I could walk dog around neighborhood and there is a park .5 miles down the road.
Town has a tree- cooled grass area by library and is dog friendly.
Nice drive to Chinook Pass.
Lively but not crazy for 4th of July"
