About this property
Black Dog of Blue Ridge- Pet Friendly | Fenced In Yard | Hot Tub | Outdoor Fireplace
Black Dog of Blue Ridge is named for the owners' loyal dog, who loves coming to Blue Ridge to relax on the deck and roam in his fenced yard. This peaceful retreat is great for a family, few couples, or a girls/guys weekend. Bring your own furry friend as well!
This prow front home offers a rustic yet elegant setting with contemporary, premier furnishings, almost all purchased locally from Blue Ridge stores. Here, gazing out at spectacular views, you'll feel at peace and at home while the real world disappears and your cares fade away.
Start each morning with the sun rising over a view that even the locals call "amazing." Have breakfast in the gorgeous dine-in kitchen as dazzling colors outside your window transform into a clear blue sky.
In pursuit of adventure? Take your loyal pooch for a hike through the mountainside, then head out to the river for whitewater rafting or tubing. Head over to the stables for a lovely horseback ride through the hills, then hit some balls on one the area's pristine golf courses. Wind up the afternoon with a visit to nearby apple orchards for some beautiful fresh fruit.
Kids of all ages will love hanging out downstairs, spending a rainy afternoon playing pool or board games. Fix a drink at the wet bar and grab a snack from the mini-refrigerator, then relax watching a movie snuggled up on the couch in front of the fireplace…Even the twin bedroom is downstairs for the ultimate weekend getaway.
When stomachs start growling, grill some steaks out on the deck for an easy, carefree dinner. Then take in a glorious sunset as you lounge on a sofa by the outdoor stone fireplace. Or, perhaps go for a twilight walk on Black Dog's two sprawling acres of land.
After a fun-filled day, enjoy a soothing soak in the hot tub by the light of the moon. Rinse off in the master bath's walk-in shower or whirlpool tub before crawling in to bed for a wonderful night's sleep. Spend a leisurely morning in bed before starting another great day of mountain activities!
You, the ones you love and your faithful friends are guaranteed to have an amazing time at Black Dog of Blue Ridge. After spending some time here, your favorite command is sure to be “stay.”

We stayed 5 nights in the spring. The house was exactly as described with the views being even more spectacular in person. We went with our two young children and our 80lb dog. We took advantage of hiking trails and horseback riding in the area.
We stayed with friends, children and fur babies! Cabin was very clean & pet friendly. The staff was very easy to communicate with and customer service was excellent!
We loved our stay at Black Dog of Blue Ridge. It’s convenient to town (but make sure you follow the host directions and not Google), has great views from the deck, a comfortable outside fireplace in winter, and a perfect fenced yard for pups who like to run around. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would love to travel back soon
This property was everything the listing said it was! If you want a secluded vacation with wonderful views, this is the property for you. It was wonderful having a fenced in yard for my dog to be in
I had rented this cabin as a Thanksgiving getaway with my family. We had a perfect holiday. The cabin was equipped with everything we needed and great location for trips to downtown and visiting Elijay. The sunrise view was AMAZING!!!
Visited for a quick long weekend trip. Directions to the cabin were very accurate and the descriptions were great. The pictures of the views didn’t do it justice. We had some bad weather our last night, but we only lost power for a few hours. All in all amazing trip and can’t wait to book it again.
Cabin was beautiful, well stocked and organized! We enjoyed the many fireplaces, well maintained hot tub and gorgeous view. Some items within the home could have been cleaner, but overall we were very happy. One road into the cabin was nearly impassable, but second road (which gps has difficulty locating) was fine.
Cabin has truly amazing views! Greatly enjoyed the outdoor fireplace every night, so relaxing! Loved having the fenced in area for my furbabies. Beautiful cabin, very well stocked. The owner has thought of everything! Only negative would be that main floor mattress definitely needs replaced, really sunken in on one side and uncomfortable. Overall, great cabin and I'd stay here again!
This is an absolutely amazing cabin! The view from every window and every deck is just beautiful! We really enjoyed the outdoor fireplace, the hot tub, the fully stocked kitchen and the fenced in yard for our dog. It was also really nice having a fully paved road and driveway. My Volkswagen Jetta was able to handle the mountain roads without any issues. The cabin was clean, and convenient to eveything too. We truly enjoyed our stay and can’t wait to come back!
Cabin was beautiful, inside and out! It rained so we didnt get to use outdoor firepit but hot tub was great! Phenomenal management company, they followed up our trip with a call. Great cookware, kitchen had everything we needed. Bring your own spices if you want something other than salt and pepper. Will definitely be back with pups because the fenced in yard was solid.
The house was incredible and gav e everyone their own space. The pool played pools and watched the games on Cable TV, I was able to grill out during the evening while looking over the incredible view of Blue Ridge. My way loved the outdoor fireplace that she used every night while catching up on her reading. 5 stars!
I rented the cabin for my best friend and I to have a quiet weekend. The house was perfectly clean and more than enough space for the two of us. This would easily be a great rental for 2 couples with or without kids. I brought my dog and having the fenced in area was a huge plus for me. We did not utilize the outdoor grill or hot tub since the weather was bad. I was kind of disappointed that the outdoor fireplace was broken as we had been looking forward to using that. There was also plenty of parking on the driveway and checkout was super easy. I would definitely rent the cabin again.
Beautiful home and location. The view is amazing and calms the soul.
The fenced in area for our fury friends was just enough allowing them to wander/search and enjoy the time away from the city.
Would have preferred to know how close the neighbors were. Also was under impression no fireworks allowed, but those around us used and scared the dogs. I also would recommend some maintenance on the outside of home to keep the same presentable fee as on the inside.
Overall enjoyed the trip and was happy overall. Thank you.
The filters on the pictures make it look a little nicer than it is, but it is still in pretty good shape. There is a great view from the deck and it has a nice layout.
The water is a milky white that you can't even see through it, so consider bringing a filter or bottled water if that makes you uneasy (as it did for us).
The unit also needed a good cleaning. The view from inside was bad because the windows were so gross (streaks of "stuff" running down them). There were cobwebs on the railing and we could write our name on the table dust. These are not show-stoppers and we gave feedback so hopefully cleaning will be better moving forward.
A few glasses (yes, literally) and some utensils/cookware were broken, which was unfortunate. And the upstairs bed has two very noticeable dips. (They should probably be flipped or replaced.)
Overall it is a good unit but a cleaning + replacing a few things would make it a more enjoyable experience.
Pros: nice property w/great views! The master is huge w/a huge en suite & nice deck access. The wrap-around deck is very nice and the patio-type deck is really nice with a normal-sized outdoor fireplace (flue was cracked so couldn't use). We didn't use the pool table but nice to have - the downstairs area is good. Nice to have a separate half bath behind the kitchen. Considerations: the drive up is SUPER steep & the road is no bigger than a driveway in some places. Very glad that we drove up right before dark. Some of the drop offs were kind of scary (& we are not wussy folks). The living area is much smaller than it looks online as is the 2nd main level bedroom. Some of the frying pans needs to be replaced and I forgot to mention to property mgt but the icemaker is very odd: when it is on cube mode, it comes out half cubes and whole cubes and slivers. Perhaps should be serviced. The master br door wouldn't stay shut but I know they will fix that as I mentioned it to them. Overall I would definitely recommend. Just go up in the daylight for the first time to get a feel for the very narrow, steep, super windy roads to reach the house...maybe 1.5 miles up. I would like to go back in the spring/summer too.
This home is just beautiful and the view is stunning. The pictures do not do it justice. It is pet friendly, but definitely not "pet shabby". We stayed four nights and cooked in most of the time. The kitchen is well stocked with pots, pans, utensils, etc. We enjoyed the grill. It rained during our stay, but the outdoor fireplace porch was perfect. We also enjoyed the pool table. Our Golden Retriever was able to access the fenced area from any door, which was nice. Our only issue was with the property mangagement company. A man showed up unexpectedly one morning and said he needed to change air filters. We had just gotten up and were not ready for visitors. We called the management complany to be sure this was OK, as the man parked so that we could not identifying his truck. He came into the house as I was on the phone. The person I spoke with, Lisa, seemed to think this was amusing. The man went into every room upstairs and downstairs. When he was leaving, he told us that he thought the house was empty. I called back after he left and asked to be notified if anyone else needed to access the house. Lisa said she was "sorry if I misunderstood her laughter". Shortly after, we let our dog out and discovered that the maintenance man left the gate open. There was no one in the house on either side of us, and we were able to get our dog back in pretty quickly, but this was needlessly frustrating. The house is awesome, the management complany not so much.
