My wife and I stayed at this location for 3 weeks recently. On the negative side, the directions were a bit off. Do not turn at the first Bamboo but wait until the second Bamboo. After that it's fairly straight forward. Once you turn left onto Milnor Path, it's going to get pretty steep but don't fear you can do it. It's the second drive on the right. The cabin is worth the climb. Also, make sure the provided key/lock combination is correct. Fortunately, someone happened to be at the cabin and got the key for us. The folks were very helpful.
The Home is secluded and, overall, is well maintained and will provide a most pleasant and relaxing experience. The two decks provide a great view of the surrounding woods and the bold creek presents a delightful auditory and thoroughly relaxing experience. The cabin is well equipped but you may want to bring some of your favorite kitchen pots and such.
The home is large enough to adequately serve six persons without constantly bumping into each other but the stairs could present an challenge for those who may be tested by transitioning from bedroom to main floor via the stairs. Remember it's actually 3 stories...
The two main bedrooms on the lower floor are insulated so that sounds from other parts of the home are prevented from being heard once you are down stairs. If you leave the bedroom doors opened, you will only be accompanied by the sounds of the stream and possible snoring of those around you.
The fireplace works well and is adequate for taking the chill off of a cool mountain morning. Conversely and although it was quite warm in Boone, the home never got above 80 during the day but quickly cooled to blanket temps after sunset. For those of us from Florida, it's the primary summer time objective!
It's close to Boone and shopping but you may prefer to stock up and just stay put! We have rented cabins for many years in the NC mountains and most are just that...a cabin. This restful residence is really has a "you're at home" feel and will enhance your Boone experience. So happy we found it!
