About this property
Cozy Cabin Near Boulder with Wildlife and WiFi
Nestled into the earth in the Rocky Mountain foothills above Boulder, Colorado, The Chaled (Chalet + Shed) is a sunny, relaxing hideaway. It’s located on expansive land bordering the National Forest with abundant wildlife, yet just 12 minutes to downtown Boulder and 17 minutes to the ski town of Nederland. It has high-speed internet, off-street parking, mature fruiting apple and apricot trees, a small lawn and garden, and a stone patio and outdoor dining area.
You'll have the 350 square foot cabin and its private yard to yourself. It's situated on a quiet, paved road with little traffic and is part of a larger property with a single family home in full-time residence with two kids. (The main house and one neighboring house are approximately 100 yards away.)
A south-facing window seat is always the favorite spot to read or watch wildlife, and the open floor plan includes comfortable chairs, a dining table with chairs, and a fully equipped kitchen. The bedroom is quiet and cozy and has ample storage space. The bathroom includes tub and shower. The outdoor dining table with umbrella, grill, and outdoor seating overlook the property and are delightful for outdoor meals and entertaining.
Guest access The cabin is easily accessible from Boulder via paved roads. One parking space is provided in front of it. AWD or 4WD is not necessary most of the year, but in the winter, if snow comes down, it is recommended to get up and down the mountain roads safely.
Other things to note:
The cabin has high-speed internet and cell service, depending on your carrier (AT&T seems to work best up here.) The WiFi is fast, and to use your cell phone for phone calls/texts, simply turn on “Wi-Fi calling”. Please note that there is no AC or TV.
It’s a 5-minute drive to Betasso Mountain Preserve, a Boulder County-maintained trail system for running and biking with 3-mile and 7-mile loops. In the winter you’re about 30 minutes from skiing at Eldora Resort. Rocky Mountain National Park is about 45 minutes drive.

Great cabin in the foothills outside Boulder. Secluded but easily accessible to Boulder and popular hiking trails. Views from the patio were fantastic.
Ideal location near Boulder but driving distance to Rocky Mountain National Park. Cabin was perfectly sized, spotless and had all the amenities required. Extremely peaceful stay and would absolutely recommend.
Thanks for having us!
Thoughtfully designed, comfortable cottage in a wooded setting with a well-equipped patio. Wish we could have stayed longer.

What a lovely place to spend a long weekend! Encountered deer and even a fox on the patio. Easy to drive to hiking. Thoughtful details and decor inside. Highly recommend!
We loved this sweet little place nestled up in the mountains. It was clean, well equipped, and had lovely furnishings. My daughter is at CU and this was a great place to stay while visiting her. Close, but not too close. And enough room to have her and her boyfriend over for dinner. I will look to stay here again!
Booked a holiday trip for myself. The Chaled was perfect as a solo traveler or a couple. Very clean, quiet, and stylish. Loved that I could head down to the Betasso Preserve for trail running. You’re only about 15 minutes down the canyon to Boulder. Well maintained winter roads. I would book again!
The cabin was so cute surrounded by nothing but trees. It’s in the mountain and on your way there the view is incredible. It felt very homey and cozy, perfect for couples. The host is very kind and responsive. I’ll be coming back for sure! ☺️
What a gem. Deer, turkeys, rabbits abound up in these hills. Gorgeous sunrises and very pleasant patio. Winding roads were navigable in the dark for me, convenient location to Boulder. A sweet tiny home was welcoming.

We had a wonderful stay in this delightful cabin! Charmingly tucked into a hillside, with large windows and a bright window seat from which to view the sunrise and wildlife – we saw a fox and deer. We were greeted with chocolate and lip balm, a luxurious bed, everything we needed in the kitchen and a fully appointed bathroom. We had a truly lovely stay and would definitely stay here again. Its high up some winding roads which we quickly got used to and is a short distance from Boulder. A definite 5 star experience! The pictures don’t do it justice!
We came to visit my son for family weekend at CU and I am so happy we found this adorable little cabin. It is a very easy and pretty drive to and from Boulder. I would actually even consider staying here for snowboarding weekends at Eldora! The home is very well equipped and thoughtfully designed. Everything was clean and the linens were very comfortable. It made for a unique and cozy getaway! Highly recommend!
My boyfriend and I ended up staying on the first snow storm of November so it was a bit of excitement getting to the location! Jeb met us on the road and kindly reassured us we he would help us if we had any car trouble, but we got in and out of the driveway no problem. The accommodation was great with some really nice little touches and the snow made it even prettier. We also got some great hike and food recommendations from Jeb. Eldora and Nederland are both worth a visit.
We will definitely be back again in summer!
A must-stay location if you're looking to get away and relax
Our stay at this home was exactly what we needed. The house is simply adorable and a must-stay for anyone who loves unique and special getaways. During our time here, we were lucky enough to spot deer, wild turkeys, and even a fox, which added to the charm of the location. Nestled just outside of Boulder City, Colorado, the spot couldn't have been more perfect—tucked into one of the most beautiful mountain ranges in the country.
The Wi-Fi worked flawlessly, and the kitchen was well-equipped with everything we needed. The hosts were fantastic—always quick to respond and incredibly hospitable, making sure we felt right at home. This place is now our top choice whenever we return to Boulder City, hands down beating out other options. Highly recommend adding this gem to your bucket list.
We had a wonderful time staying at the chaled. The location is about 10-15 minutes west of boulder, up in the mountains enough to get seclusion without needing to worry about getting to the store if you realize that you forgot something. The cabin was absolutely immaculate and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay during the shoulder season - there were blankets and pillows galore, the heating system worked well and responded quickly when temperatures dropped, the seating was comfortable, and the kitchen was very well stocked. We especially appreciated that there were 3 different coffee brewing devices available and a grinder! It was also a very nice touch that there were actual kitchen knives, good pots and pans, and pantry staples at check-in.
I highly recommend staying at the chaled if you're looking to get close to nature (hiking, biking, climbing, etc. galore) without the need to do a full-on camping trip.
We had a wonderful time staying here during our first ever visit to Colorado. The space was clean, cozy, and perfect for my husband and I. We enjoyed being in nature and exploring Boulder and all surrounding areas.
