The space
1830. The Santorinean family Sigalas builds a sheepfold hewn in the rock, in the settlement of Karterados in the center of Fira, to hide their animals when pirates raided the island. Forty-seven years later, the cave is converted into a home to house the large family with the children and grandchildren who expected to be given pancakes with sugar every night. One and a half centuries later, the home that remains today a home, near that a separate place for the goats, the grandmother’s house and a canava, the family winery where the year’s crop was stoically aging in oak barrels, were converted into a luxurious, intimate lodge with three suites: Canava (= winery), Eutopia (=seeking of the best possible world), and Lala (=grandmother in the Santorinean dialect). Eutopia Cave Suite

The guest opens the doors of his suite and enters another world, a respite from the ordinary life. Antiquity, though principal, transcends in its era and becomes inextricably intertwined with a contemporary design, dramatic features and the art deco element that triumphs is this suite. Arches housing glass doors, the opulence of the coach, the rock above the bed as an organic texture of the suite. The jacuzzi plunge pool with its many twists and "turns" that hugs the water, the light that is highlighted as the protagonist of an impressionist painting, the aesthetics of tranquility that are periodically disturbed by the iron textures on the perimeter of the door leaf. The strict stylistic patterns in the alcoves of the roomand the simple clear-cut geometry of the walls. The supremacy of the water adds a sense of exotism that every paradise loves to evoke. A room and a word intricately linked to it, which enfolds what dreams do not say. One big word "Aegean".
